Definitions

  • a hand-propelled vehicle with tipping body or load platform A hand-propelled vehicle with tipping body or load platform
  • the present invention relates to a hand-propelled vehicle, such as a trolley or a wheelbarrow, specifically a wheelbarrow, and more specifically a tipping wheelbarrow.
  • a hand-propelled vehicle such as a trolley or a wheelbarrow, specifically a wheelbarrow, and more specifically a tipping wheelbarrow.
  • PRIOR ART A common problem with the use of wheelbarrows is the need to tip them to unload the transported material. The tipping is performed by pivoting the wheelbarrow around the wheel axis levering on the lifting handles. This requires a considerable effort, which may cause injury to the operator and however limits the admissible load.
  • Italian patent application Ml 2003 A 002277 suggests a wheelbarrow provided with a tipping mechanism: the handles slide in an element hinged to a rear stand, in turn hinged onto the tipper body and propped on the ground.
  • the handles are rigidly fixed to a wheel axis support, underneath it, the support also being hinged above to the tipper body.
  • the wheel support is induced to pivot forwards and the hinging point with the tipper body descends. Concurrently, the rear stand is lifted and this causes the tipper body to be tipped forwards.
  • This system is not entirely satisfactory as concerns reducing the operator's effort and furthermore, the system which allows the handles to slide is more complex to manufacture with respect to a simple hinge and is subject to jamming or frictions due to foreign bodies, rust or other. It would therefore be desirable to provide a wheelbarrow with a tipping mechanism displaying a simpler construction and being most effective in reducing the operator's effort.
