Abstract
A component assembly (10) comprising a housing (12) having an internally reflective surface (14); an optically clear media (44) filled in said housing (12), said media (44) comprising a non-electrically conducting liquid (48) having a first refractive index and a mass of light scattering non-conductive particles (46) having a second refractive index significantly different from said first refractive index and a particle size between 0.1 micron and 3 micron dispersed in said liquid (48), the ratio of said mass of particles (46) to liquid (48) being at least 60:100; and a plurality of optical components (16) spaced apart from each other, each of said optical components (16) having at least one optical transmitter (30) and one optical receiver (36), said optical components (16) being submerged in said media (44).
