Description

Description STANDUP TYPE SMALL BICYCLE FOR EXERCISE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a standup type small bicycle for exercise, and in particular to a standup type small bicycle for exercise in which a saddle is removed from a conventional bicycle, and a plate pedal is longitudinally formed so that a pedal connected with a driving sprocket wheel is extended to a hub shaft of a rear wheel as if a user steps on a plate pedal with whole bodies in a posture of riding a kick board for thereby maximizing an exercise effect, and kids can easily use the bicycle. Background Art
[2] As shown in Figure 14, a conventional bicycle includes a front wheel 13 and a rear wheel 23 at its front and rear sides. A handle post 26 is connected with a shaft of the front wheel 13, and a handle 10 is fixed at the upper side of the same. A support frame 20 is connected between the handle post 26 and the rear wheel 23 in the horizontal and downward directions. A saddle 28 fixed at a saddle frame is provided at an intermediate portion of a support frame 20 at a slanted angle in up and down directions.
[3] A driving shaft is drivingly connected at a lower side of the support frame 20 in left and right directions. A pedal 58 is engaged at a driving shaft pedal arm 52 at both sides of the driving shaft with a certain length. A driving sprocket wheel 30 is fixed at one side of the driving shaft, and a driven sprocket wheel is fixed at a hub of the rear wheel 23. A chain 32 connects the driving sprocket wheel 30 and the driven sprocket wheel. A baggage rest 29 is installed at an upper side of the rear wheel 23.
[4] In the above conventional bicycle, when a user steps on each pedal 58 while sitting on the saddle 28, the rotational force is applied to the driving shaft. The driving sprocket wheel 30 connected with the driving shaft rotates, and the driven sprocket wheel connected through the chain 32 rotates for thereby generating a running force. With the generated running force, the bicycle is not slanted, but runs straight.
[5] In other words, the front wheel of the bicycle has a steering function, and the rear wheel operates by the user's feet, so that the bicycle goes forwards. The front wheel and rear wheel may independently operate by a manual type brake.
[6] However, the conventional bicycle has a problem lying in that since the force for stepping on the pedal is directly transferred to the wheels through the chain, the stepping force may a lot lose. At least one of two feet should wait for the full transfer of the stepping force based on a running situation.
[7] In addition, since the conventional cycle is formed in an inline shape with one front wheel and one rear wheel, a bicycle beginner falls down so many times when first learning how to ride. With many times of falling down, the user can learn how to balance the bicycle and body. Sometimes, the user may have a big accident while learning the riding of the bicycle. Disclosure of Invention
Technical Problem
[8] Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a standup type small bicycle for exercise which overcomes the problems encountered in the conventional art.
[9] It is another object of the present invention to provide a new standup type small bicycle for exercise in which an energy loss is minimized by stepping on the pedal with whole bodies, and an exercise effect is maximized.
[10] It is further another object of the present invention to provide a new standup type small bicycle for exercise in which a saddle is removed from a conventional bicycle, and a plate pedal is longitudinally formed so that a pedal connected with a driving sprocket wheel is extended to a hub shaft of a rear wheel as if a user steps on a plate pedal with whole bodies in a posture of riding a kick board for thereby maximizing an exercise effect, and kids can easily use the bicycle. Technical Solution
[11] To achieve the above objects, in a bicycle which includes a front wheel and a rear wheel engaged at a front side and a rear side, respectively, a handle post connected at a shaft of the front wheel, a handle fixed at an upper side of the handle post, a support frame which is horizontally connected between the handle post and the rear wheel, a driving shaft which is rotatable at a center of the support frame, and a chain which connects a driving sprocket wheel engaged at one side of the driving shaft and a driven sprocket wheel fixed at a hub unit engaged at the rear wheel, there is provided a standup type small bicycle for exercise which comprises a plate pedal 50 which is formed in a plate shape, one side of the plate pedal being connected with a driving shaft pedal arm 52 engaged at both sides of the driving shaft 36 with a pedal shaft 53, the other side of the plate pedal being connected with a driven shaft pedal arm 54 engaged at a hub unit of the rear wheel 22 with a pedal shaft 55.

[55] The hub insertion shaft 80 connected with the driven shaft pedal arm 54 rotates inde- pendently with respect to the frame fixing bar 87 and the through hub shaft 82 by the insertion shaft bearing 84.
[56] The plate pedal 50 is inserted into the pedal shafts 53 and 55 vertically connected at the ends of the driving shaft pedal arm 52 and the driven shaft pedal arm 54 respectively and rotates, and the driving shaft pedal arm 52 and the driven shaft pedal arm 54 are fixed at the driving shaft 36 and the hub shaft 70 and the hub insertion shaft 80 with the tapered pin 51. In addition, the plate pedal 50 connected with the pedal shaft 55 of the rear wheel has a margin 59 larger than the pedal shaft 55 so that the pedal shaft 55 can smoothly rotate.
[57] As shown in Figure 5, the standup type small bicycle for exercise according to a second embodiment of the present invention comprises two front wheels 15 and 16 for thereby forming a three- wheel bicycle.
[58] As shown in Figures 6 and 7, the standup type small bicycle for exercise according to a third embodiment of the present invention, the rear side of the plate pedal 50 is connected at rope fixtures 62 and 64 formed vertically with respect to the support frame 20 with a fixing rope 60.
[59] The rope fixtures 62 and 64 are connected to the upper side at the support fame 20 of the rear wheel 22, with a rope groove 65 being formed at the end of the bent part. With the above construction, the fixing rope 60 is prevented from being escaped to the outside. One end of the fixing rope 60 is provided with a loop 61 for being mounted at the rope groove 65 and is connected with the rope fixtures 62 and 64, and the other side of the same is connected with the plate pedal 50.
[60] Here, an idle bearing 56 may be further provided at an outer side of the hub unit of the rear wheel 22, so that the plate pedal 50 is more smoothly rotated.

In other words, there is provided a sync element for matching the driving shaft 36 and the hub shaft 70. The sync element may be formed of one among the first through third embodiments of the present invention.
[62] As shown in Figure 9, the rear wheel sync sprocket 91 engaged at the hub shaft 70 is engaged between the conical nut 73 and the fixing nut 74 which fixes the shaft rotation bearing 76.
[63] As shown in Figure 3, in the case that the through hub shaft 82 is used, as shown in
Figure 10, the rear wheel sync sprocket 91 is engaged at the hub insertion shaft 80. Namely, the rear wheel sync sprocket 91 is positioned outside the conical nut 85 and is fixed with the fixing nut 86.
[64] As shown in Figures 9 and 10, the rear wheel sync sprocket 91 is engaged near the pedal arm 54 of the driven shaft of the left side. It is known by those skilled in the art that it may be engaged near the pedal arm of the driven shaft of the right side, and the sync sprocket 90 connected with the chain is engaged at the driving shaft 36 of the right side.
[65] As shown in Figure 3, in the case that the through hub shaft 82 is used, as shown in
Figure 10, the rear wheel sync sprocket 91 is engaged at the hub insertion shaft 80. Namely, the rear wheel sync sprocket 91 is positioned outside the conical nut 85 and is fixed with the fixing nut 86.

In other words, there are provided a double wheel shaft 94 which connects a pair of rear wheels 24 and 25, and a differential gear unit 93 which allows the rear wheels 24 and 25 to rotate differentially. At this time, the differential gear unit 93 is engaged at the double wheel shaft 94. Since the construction and function are known like in the conventional differential gear device, the detailed description of the same will be omitted. Instead the differential gear unit 93, the gear device in which rear wheels 24 and 25 rotate independently from each other may be used.
[67] The driven sprocket wheel 34 is engaged at the double wheel shaft 94 for thereby receiving a driving force from the driving sprocket wheel 30 via the chain 32.
[68] According to the sixth embodiment of the present invention, the I-shaped pedal rod
67 is used instead the fixing rope 60 of the third embodiment. As shown in Figure 12, there is provided a pedal support member 66 which is engaged at the support frame 20 at a certain height.
[69] An upper hinge 68 formed at an upper end of the pedal rod 67 in a T shape is engaged at both ends of the pedal support member 66, and the plate pedal 50 and the lower hinge 69 are engaged at the lower end of the same.
[70] So, the pedal support member 66, the pedal rod 67 and the plate pedal 50 are stably connected with each other.
[71] Here, the pedal support member 66 is installed so that it's height can be freely adjusted. Namely, it is preferred that the angle of the motion of the plate pedal 50 can be adjusted. In other words, in case that the angle of the plate pedal 50 is large, more exercise effects can be obtained. A height adjusting element for adjusting the height of the pedal support member 66 is known. It may be preferably formed of two hollow pipes which are overlapped. The overlapped pipes may be fixed using the screws in a conventional method.
[72] As shown in Figure 13, according to the seventh embodiment of the present invention, the rear side of the plate pedal 50 is mounted on the upper side of the support bearing 96 which is engaged at the rear wheel extension shaft 97 extended from the hub shaft 70 or the hub insertion shaft 80. [73] Here, the plate pedal 50 slides along the upper side of the support bearing 96. At this time, a safe guide rod 95 is engaged at the support frame 20 so as to prevent an escape of the plate pedal 50.
[74] The operation and effects of the standup type small bicycle for exercise according to the present invention will be described.
[75] First, since the saddle is removed from the conventional bicycle, a user is needed to just step on the pedal in a standup posture. In other words, since the user steps on with whole bodies, a stronger driving force is needed.
[76] Since the user steps on the plate pedal 50, the effects of the exercise are maximized.
[77] Two front wheels 15 and 16 or two rear wheels 24 and 25 may be adapted, so that the kids can stably ride the bicycle in a balanced posture.
[78] The rear side of the plate pedal 50 may be fixed with the fixing rope 60 having a certain height instead the rear side of the same is connected with the hub shaft, so that it is possible to obtain another type of exercise.
[79] In other words, the length of the rear side of the plate pedal 50 is fixed by the fixing rope 60, so that an inclination of the plate pedal 50 changes based on the rotation of the driving shaft pedal arm 52, whereby the whole bodies can be slanted for thereby maximizing the exercise effects.
[80] The above-described construction may be implemented in a similar method with a kick board(for example, scooter kick board, sing-sing car). The present invention may be widely used as a playing facility or toys that children like so much. The present invention may be used for the purpose of developing a neural system of kids. An over load is not given to the body, and the present invention is durable and stable. Children can enjoy with the present invention. The present invention may be used as a kind of kid's exercises for toys.
[81] The kick board, which has been widely used for leisure sports, is provided with wheels at its front and rear sides. A handle is engaged at a front upper handle post of a board. User's legs are placed on the board, so that the user can enjoy more effectively. There are many kinds of kick boards.
[82] However, in the present invention, since the user rides while rotating the plate pedal whereas the user rolls the board in the kick board, adults as well as kids can easily enjoy the present invention.
[83] A chain is generally used for transferring a driving force in a conventional bicycle.
The chain may be detached from its normal engaged way by means of an abnormal driving force during a running operation or may damage a user's trousers. A sprocket gear may be used instead the chain for transferring a driving force of a driving sprocket wheel to a driven sprocket wheel(for example, Korean patent registration numbers 0542794 and 0527093). [84] Here, the driving sprocket wheel and the driven sprocket wheel are substituted with a crown sprocket gear and a plane sprocket gear, respectively. A roller gear is provided for engaging the crown sprocket gear and the plane sprocket gear at a certain angle. The detailed construction and operations of the above disclosed art will be omitted, but it may be applied to a standup type small bicycle for exercise of the present invention.
[85] In addition, a direct driving force is transferred to a rear wheel via a driving force transfer and a transmission gear apparatus formed of a plurality of gears instead a chain and a sprocket so as to overcome the problems encountered in a conventional chain(for example, Korean Utility model laid-open number 20-1986-0000757). In other words, in the present invention, a driving sprocket wheel and a chain are removed, and a plurality of gears are engaged at a rear wheel unit instead, so that a driving force of a pedal arm of a driven shaft is directly transferred to a rear wheel via the above gears. In addition, a clutch unit is provided for rotating a pedal arm of a driven shaft in a direction reverse to a running direction of a bicycle by controlling a driving force transfer to the rear wheel via the gears. The above construction may be easily combined to our present invention by those who are skilled in the art.
[86] Here, since the driving force transfer and transmission gear apparatus are well-known arts, the construction and operations of the same will be omitted. Industrial Applicability
[87] In the present invention, the height and length of the body except for the handle is a little bit smaller than the conventional bicycle. So, it is possible to manufacture at a lower cost.
[88] Since the weight of the whole body is a source of driving force, it is possible to easily go a slanted way. Since a wide plate pedal is used, it is possible to stable ride in a standup posture.
[89] The standup type small bicycle for exercise according to the present invention may be used for just entertainments as well as exercises. The user can enjoy another type of ride as compared to the conventional bicycle in which the user rides in a seated posture.
[90] As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be understood that the above-described examples are not limited by any of the details of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be construed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims, and therefore all changes and modifications that fall within the meets and bounds of the claims, or equivalences of such meets and bounds are therefore intended to be embraced by the appended claims.
