Description

"COLLECTING CARDS SYSTEM USED IN TRANSPORTATION" .
The present patent of Privilege of Invention refers to a collecting cards system as the ones used in transportation, in association with reading devices of credits that allow reading the values of credits inserted in the cards, such credits passive of being employed for ticket payment.
As it is common knowledge, it is today popularized a way for payment of tickets in public transportation vehicles, and even other services not related to it by the use of cards that store values of credit, which may be loaded with credits and, afterwards, used for payment effectiveness of the service by introducing the card in a reader equipment that (particularly for public transportation use) debits the ticket value, which may be stipulated in currency as well as in numbers of tickets or journeys, releasing then the turning gear for the user.
In certain types of systems, it is used some cards that are recorded and read through magnetic principles or in more modern models, cards that incorporate processing chips, also known as "smart cards".
Depending on systematic of use, and independently of the reading and recording system, the cards may be successively loaded by the user or even acquired by him/her with a specific credit value, whereas by finishing this value (non-reloaded) it is necessary that the card be held in the reading terminal to be later put back in sale by the company or system administrator organ, reducing, then, due to successive reuses, the intrinsic cost of the card.
Hence, in this specific case, the card is used until its credits have finished, and when it reaches this stage, mechanisms contemplated in the reading device are prepared to physically hold the card, automatically conducting it at first to a compartment wherein the card will be stored to be later discharged along with the other previously held card units.
In general, the collecting systems that have as function to hold an unloaded card and send it to a storing compartment are projected to include one or more electric motors that activate rollers or other physical means to promote the card movement.
This type of solution of project, despite of being widely used, presents inconvenient normally related to complexity of means of actuation and wasting impinged to the electrical motors due to high number of cycles of operation during a particular period of time throughout an estimated period of equipment life cycle as a whole .
Thus, it is not rare the cases in which conventional equipment present the operation harmed due to wasting of motors used for collecting the cards, obliging more frequent interventions of maintenance and increasing, then, the operation cost of the system as a whole . On account of this state of art, it was developed the present system, which is based on a collecting device that does not employ electrical motors as an activation mean of mechanism that executes the card collecting, eliminating, thus, the inconvenient already described, and that are characteristic of conventional equipment .
The system herein referred, different from the ones adopted for conventional equipment, employs solenoids as a mean of activation of the mechanisms that make possible cards collecting, as well as positioning sensors that operate by means of light (photo sensor) that monitor the physical positioning of the card.
The system herein referred also comprises a physical structure that interconnects the validator, a device that executes card reading and promotes subsequent operations with a safe in which the collected cards are temporarily stored after being effectively collected. The system, object of this patent of Privilege of Invention is described in details as to drawings herein below mentioned, in which:
Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of the said equipment, being the equipment fixed to a analogous tubular support to a handrail normally present on passenger public transportation vehicles, said equipment is described with a schematic indication of a card in a relative positioning to the safe;
Figure 2 schematically illustrates the operational structure of the equipment in a first stage of positioning of the card; Figure 3 illustrates a view similar to the one described in figure 2, but showing in a schematic way the operational structure of the equipment in the second stage of positioning of the card; and
Figure 4 illustrates a flowchart that shows a practical operation of the device now referred.
In accordance with what the figures hereinabove illustrates, the collecting system herein referred as to physical structure consists of a structure 1, which conjugates in a single part a validator device 2 and a whole compartment 3 that acts as a storage safe.
Structure 1 also refers to a way or to a channel of passage 4 (schematically indicated in figures 2 and 3) through which a card C inserted in an entry groove 5 may be dislocated from the already mentioned validator device 2 for the whole compartment or safe 3 with no employment of electrical motors or any other conventional components operating for such function.
Figures 2 and 3 schematically illustrate structure 1, wherein it may also be seen two important types of components used in the present system, such as: photo sensor Sl, S2 , S3 and S4, and solenoids SLl and SL2. Same figures 2 and 3 allow observing that card C, when introduced and positioned in the channel of passage 4, is initially disposed between sensors Sl and S2 , and held by solenoid SLl, as specifically showed in figure 2.
In a following stage, card C is released by solenoid SLl and is held by solenoid SL2 , like the one specifically showed in figure 3, wherein the passage from one stage to another occurs due to the action of gravity, without necessity of mechanical means (motors and associated components) for such effect.
Solenoids SLl and SL2 activate, each one, a pivoting lever device X that obstructs the ticket (fall due to gravity) from card C when respective solenoids are in their resting condition (deactivated) . When solenoids are activated, pivoting lever X describes an angular movement that withdraws the route of card C, allowing it to be vertically released to go down.
Collecting system herein referred comprises the serial communication between validator 2 and a microcontrolled plate 6 (schematically referred on figures 2 and 3) , which aims at interfacing the inputs (sensors) and outputs (solenoids and also Led) with validator device 2. The beginning of collecting operation occurs when, by resting a credit value for a passage in the card C, it will be positioned in the groove of the input 5, which is indicated by Led L. The analysis of the card validity is done, and in case of a positive answer, it will be stored in the whole compartment of safe 3.
In case the verification results in a negative answer, the card is rejected, not being then collected and, thus, determining non-releasing of the turning gear of the public transportation vehicle.
Collecting system now referred operates in three phases: a) card recognition; b) ticket validity, and c) card collecting. According to the present system, when the validator device 2 detects that the credit value of a card C it is enough for just a ticket, it indicates that this card shall be collected, and such operation happens according to steps herein below described, wherein :
First step: sensors Sl and S2 detects the presence, ID reading is performed for card validity and amount of credit;
Second step: sensor S3 detects that card C is in correct position allowing equipment to perform reading and writing in the card in order to validate it;
Third step: sensor S4 detects the end of the collecting system that culminates with the ticket of card C inside the whole compartment (safe) 3.
The flowchart showed in figure
