Definitions
- the present invention relates to a punching apparatus for a teethridge, and more particularly, to a punching apparatus for a teethridge or gum, which is used in a foundation hole forming work performed for placement of an implant into the gum.
- an artificial tooth has generally been applied to a place from which a permanent tooth is removed.
- a fixed artificial tooth it is necessary to peel or strip off adjacent permanent teeth in order to install the artificial tooth.
- an interchangeable artificial tooth used when more than one tooth are missing since external forces derived from the artificial tooth are applied to the gum, wearer discomfort and unnatural feeling are unavoidable.
- a dental implant As remarkable improvement to the problems of the artificial teeth, an implant has been proposed.
- the term "implant" is originally used to mean a replacement material to reconstruct a tissue loss of a human body
- a dental implant refers to artificial tooth implantation.
- the dental implant is an advanced surgery performed to recover original dental functions by placing an artificial tooth root, which is made of biocompatible titanium for replacement of the root of a missing tooth, into the alveolar bone of the missing tooth to be integrated into the bone and affixing an artificial tooth to the implant.
- Implant placement surgeries vary according to kinds of implants.
- a screw-type implant placement which is most widely used, consists of a series of surgical procedural steps, including a soft tissue surgery step for opening a gum into which an implant is inserted, an osseous preparation surgery of cortical bone and cancellous bone for forming a foundation hole in the alveolar bone, an implant insertion step, a step of connecting an abutment of the implant outside the gum so as to embed a prefabricated tooth after a stabilization period was allowed to osseointegrate, and a step of combining the prefabricated tooth with the implant when the implant is securely affixed to the bone once the gum is completely healed.
- a dental drill is used to drill a foundation hole for placement of an implant during the osseous preparation surgery.
- the dental drill In order to make the dental drill accurately drill the foundation hole, it is necessary to mark a center on the alveolar bone prior to a drilling work during a soft tissue surgery. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem

- the punching apparatus 10 includes a body 11, a marking member 14 provided inside of the body 11, and a tapping portion 15 formed on a top portion of the body 11.
- the body 11 has an open bottom end and is cylindrically shaped.
- a hollow 12 is formed within the cylindrical body 11.
- the body 11 has a diameter corresponding to that of a connection member securely installed at the alveolar bone (2 of FIG. 3) in order to place an implant.
- a blade 13 for facilitating punching of the gum is formed at the lower end of the body 11.
- the punching apparatus 10 according to the present invention is provided for drilling the gum. Accordingly, in order to prevent the body 11 from being inserted into the alveolar bone, the blade 13 is preferably formed in a continuous form in a circumferential direction of the body 11 for the purpose of facilitating cutting of the gum, which is a soft tissue, while hindering the body 11 from being inserted into the alveolar bone.
- multiple scales 16 are drawn at constant intervals on the outer circumferential surface of the body 11.
- the marking member 14 extends downwardly from the internal top surface of the body 11 and is formed to protrude beyond the lower end of the body 11.
- the marking member 14 has a sharply formed tip used to mark a center on the alveolar bone for a drilling work.
- the marking member 14 may be integrally formed with the body 11 or detachably formed.
- the tapping portion 15 is formed at the top surface of the body 11 to transmit external forces to the body 11. A bottom of the tapping portion 15 is led to the top surface of the body 11 and extends upwardly by a predetermined length.
- a top surface of the tapping portion 15 is relatively wider than the bottom thereof to facilitate a tapping action using a device such as a rubber hammer.
- the tapping portion 15 may have a handle to be gripped by a dentist, the handle formed such that it extends from one lateral side of the tapping portion 15 in lengthwise and perpendicular directions of the body 11.
- a punching apparatus 20 according to the current embodiment includes a body 21, a marking member 25, and a tapping portion 15.
- the body 21 has a blade 23 for punching the gum 1 formed at its lower end.
- the body 21 is cylindrically shaped and has an inner space 22.
- an extraction hole 24 is formed on the body 21.
- an auxiliary member is inserted into the body 21 through the extraction hole 24 from the outside of the upper portion of the body 21, and the securely attached gum tissue is then pushed away toward the lower portion of the body 21 to then be removed from the body 21. In such a manner, the gum tissue can be easily removed from the body 21 through the extraction hole 24.
- the marking member 25 has a hook 26 formed at a lower end, the hook 26 provided for easily separating the cut gum tissue from the alveolar bone.
- the hook 26 is frusto-conically shaped to have a tapered bottom end. That is, the hook 26 has a top portion diameter relatively greater than that of a bottom portion diameter. Since the hook 26 is frusto-conically shaped to have a tapered bottom end, it is easy to insert the body 21 into the gum. However, when the body 21 intends to separate from the gum 1, the gum tissue is hooked on the top portion of the hook 26, and the cut gum tissue as well as the body 21 is separated from the alveolar bone 2.
- FIG. 4 is a partially cut-away perspective view illustrating a third embodiment of a punching apparatus 30 for a teethridge according to the present invention.
- the punching apparatus 30 includes a body 31 having an open bottom end, and an upwardly extending tapping portion 15 formed on top of the body 31.
- the body 31 according to the current embodiment has a protrusion hook 33 spaced apart by a predetermined distance along a circumferential direction of a blade 32 provided at a bottom end of the body 31 and protruding toward an inner space of the body 31.
- an extraction hole 35 is formed on top of the body 31.
- the punching apparatus 30 according to the third embodiment is not provided with a marking member.
- connection member In some cases where a connection member is placed during an implant surgery procedure, the gum is partially cut, the connection member is then placed into the alveolar bone, the cut gum tissue is positioned over the connection member until os- seointegration between the connection member and the alveolar bone is established.
- the punching apparatus 30 according to the present invention can be used. Since the connection member is provided in the punching apparatus 30 according to the present invention, a marking work for forming a foundation hole is not necessarily performed. Accordingly, in the punching apparatus 30 according to the present invention, the body 31 is provided with the blade 32 formed at its bottom portion to drill the gum without a marking member.
- a punching apparatus 40 includes a body 41, a marking member 45 installed within the body 41, and a shank 44 installed on the body 41.
- the marking member 45 extends downwardly from the internal top surface of the body 41 and has a drill-shaped bottom end so as to facilitate downward rotation. Since the punching apparatus 40 according to the current embodiment punches the gum using a rotary power, the marking member 45 has a drill- shape for promoting a marking action for marking a center for a drilling work on the alveolar bone.
- a marking member 47 may be shaped of a rhombus having a flat distal end.
- the marking member 47 marks a center on the alveolar bone while rotating by means of an electronic device 48 to be described later.
- the shank 44 extends upwardly from the upper portion of the body 41 and is led to a driving chuck 49 of the electronic device 48 for rotating the punching apparatus 40.
- a motor of the electronic device 48 the shank 44 transmits a rotary power of the electronic device 48 to the body 41 and the body 41 punches the gum by rotation.
- the blade 42 formed at the bottom portion of the body 41 is formed in a continuous form along a circumferential direction of the body 41. Accordingly, even when the body 41 rotates by means of the electronic device 48, it is not easy to drill the alveolar bone, thereby minimizing a risk of unnecessarily removing the alveolar bone.
- the body 41 according to the current embodiment includes multiple scales 43 are drawn at constant intervals on the outer circumferential surface of the body 41 in order to allow an insertion depth of the body 41 to be easily identified.
- a punching apparatus 50 includes an extraction hole 55 formed on a body 51, for extracting the gum tissue to be cut.
- an electronic device is connected for facilitating rotation of the body 51.
- a shank 52 for connecting the body 51 to a driving chuck of the electronic device is provided on top of the body 51. Since the marking member 54 is substantially the same as the marking member 47 shown in FIG. 6, a detailed explanation thereabout will not be given.
- the extraction hole 55 of the current embodiment is provided for the purpose of downwardly pulling away the extracted gum tissue of the body 51 by inserting an auxiliary member into the body 51 from an exterior of the body 51.
- an extraction hook 63 for allowing the gum tissue cut by a blade 62 to be easily separated from the alveolar bone is formed at a bottom portion of a body 61 so as to protrude toward an inside of the body 61.
- a punching apparatus 70 for a teethridge includes a body 71, a support member 72 thread-coupled to a top portion of the body 71, a center member 74 extending to an inner space of the body through the support member 72, a shank member 77 thread-coupled to a top portion of the support member 72, and a resilient member 76 installed between a head 75 provided at a top end of the center member 74 and a bottom surface of the shank member 77.
- the support member 72 has a stopper 73 spaced a predetermined length or more apart from its lower portion coupled to the upper portion of the body 71, the stopper 73 protruding from the internal circumferential surface of the body 71.
- the center member 74 extends downwardly through the stopper 73. Since a diameter of the head 75 provided at the top portion of the center member 74 is greater than that of a throughhole formed by the stopper 73, the head 75 is locked by the stopper 73, thereby preventing the center member 74 from being separated downwardly from the body 71.
- the shank member 77 is formed so as to be engaged with a driving chuck of an electronic device, while a bottom portion of the shank member 77 is thread-coupled to the support member 72.
- the resilient member 76 has a top end supported to a bottom end of the shank member 77 coupled to the support member 72 and a bottom end supported to the head 75 of the center member 74, thereby elastically biasing downwardly the center member [52]
- the punching apparatus 70 according to the current embodiment can be used to punch the gum for connecting an artificial tooth to the connection member, wherein when the center member 74 comes into a top end of the connection member, the body 71 cuts the gum while rotating.
- the center member 74 moves upward by a repulsive force of the connection member. After the completion of the cutting step of the gum, the body 71 is separated from the gum. Then, the center member 74 moves down again by an elastic force of the resilient member 76.
- the center member 74 allows the gum adjacent to the embedded connection member to be easily cut.
- the punching apparatus 70 according to the current embodiment includes multiple scales 78 drawn on the outer circumferential surface of the body 71, thereby allowing an insertion depth of the body 71 to be easily identified.
- the punching apparatus for a teethridge or gum according to the present invention allows implant placement to be performed in a smooth manner, it can be widely applied in the dental implant industry.
