Abstract

This invention is an enhanced oil filter which prevents unfiltered oil penetrating to the drivetrain when the bypass-valve opens up due to pressure between the entrance and the exit. This filter contains a case (30) which has an opening on top, a top-plate (31) that is connected to the opening case area composed of an entrance and an exit to which the oil flows in and out. Also contains a filter-box (40) located within the case (30) which filters out foreign substances, and a bypass-valve (50) located in the filter-box (40) which bypasses the oil to the exit when there is an abnormal oil pressure between the filter box (40) and case(30), when part of filter box is clogged due to foreign substances. A valve-filter (60) filters out oil that streams in through the above mentioned bypass-hole(44a) and the first spring (70) presses the valve-filter (60) close to the filter-box (40), and the filter-box (40) close to the top plate (31). Unlike the traditional oil filter; which fails to prevent the bypassing oil that does not filter to re-supply the engine's drivetrain, this filter does exactly that, thus reducing damage to the engine's drive train.

Description

Description
THE OIL FILTER
Technical Field
[I] This invention is about the oil filter which is ultimately designed to prevent unfiltered oil flowing to the drivetrain, as the bypass valve open up due to pressure between the entrance and exit of filter.
[2]
Background Art [3] In the engine of an automobile, there is an oil supplier that delivers oil to the friction area in order to smoothen the engine's operations and extend its life span. In this oil supplier, an oil filter is installed to prevent carbon and foreign substances to enter which generated from metallic dust and combustion from inside of engine. [4] Figure 1 depicts this oil filter in its basic form. A bypass- valve( 10) is installed in the lubrication area in combination with fϊlter(20) and this bypass- valve( 10) directs oil which did not penetrate to the inside of engine because of the oil's pressure changes
(for example, when the filter is clogged by foreign substance and oil pressure is increased) between the entrance(21) and exit(22) of the filter. [5] The filter(20) illustrated in figure 1 is composed of a metallic case(23), an element(24) installed within the case(23), and a spring(27) that keep the case(23) and element(24) in close together. [6] The element(24) mentioned above is composed of a filtering net(25) made of paper
(or stainless etc.), and a support(26) supporting filtering net(25) made of multiple holes. [7] When foreign substance flow into the entrance(21) of the filter(20), as it runs through the filtering net(25) and the support(26), foreign substance is filtered and filtered oil is supplied to the inside of engine through the exit(22). [8]
Disclosure of Invention
Technical Problem
[9] The oil filter(20) mentioned above in Background Art' has the following problems.
[10] First, the bypass-valve(lθ) is installed in the main frame of the engine, thus the construct of the engine due to the installation of the valve becomes complicated.
[II] Second, the bypass-valve(lθ) is installed in the narrow space in the entrance(21) of the filter(20), thus the oil may not go via element(24) and skip the filtering process as the outflow of unfiltered oil in the bypass-valve( lθ) cause early damage to engine. [ 12] Third, filtering net(25) made of paper(or stainless etc) will degrade as highly pressured oil flow through, damaging filter efficiency and shortening life span of filter. [ 13]
Technical Solution [ 14] This invention is designed to solve such problems by installing the bypass-valve along the filtering channel. Thus, less foreign substances will be included in the oil passing the bypass-valve. [ 15 ] Another reason for such invention is to simplify engine's construct by installing the bypass-valve in the oil filter, reducing the cost of automobile oil filter. [ 16] This invention is designed to provide an automobile oil filter that filters foreign substances through the bypass-valve and also to provide a filter that is built to last longer than the former filters. [ 17]
Advantageous Effects
[ 18] This enhanced oil filter brings the following advantages.
[ 19] First, unlike previous filters, the bypass -valve(50) is installed within the case(3ϋ) in the filter-box(40). The oil will go through the main filter(41) which filters some foreign substances before the oil is discharged to the bypass-valve(50). Less foreign substances is discharged to the bypass-valve therefore lessens damage to the engine's drivetrain. [20] Second, oil that is bypassed will go through a valve-filter(6ϋ) which will minimize damage to the engine's drivetrain. Where as in the previous filters, oil that bypass were resupplied to the engine's drivetrain without being filtered. [21 ] Third, unlike previous filters where the valve was attached to the engine's main frame, this filter holds the bypass-valve(50) in the filter-box(40) therefore simplifying engine's construct and reducing the cost of automobile oil filter. [22] Fourth, as the main filter(41 ) is composed of metal, it is possible to be recycled by being removing foreign substances while cleaning the main filter(41) without deforming filter. Also the filter can outlast high pressure far extending life of filter. [23] Fifth, as magnet is attached to the inside of the case(30) it helps the main filter(41 ) improve filter effect better by catching all the metallic foreign substance in the oil. [24] Also the case(30) will be magnetized by the magnet therefore making the case itself possible of filtering out metallic foreign substances. It makes filter effect of main filter(41 ) better. [25]

[35]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [36] A valve filter(60) which filters foreign substance when oil is inflowing through a bypass-hole(44a) mentioned above. [37]
Mode for the Invention [38] The guider(51 ) that is located inside the spindle of filter-box(42) in which one end in attached to the center of the bypass-hole(44a) and the slit(51 a) around the outside lets the oil in. [39] The lift(53) is installed allowing the guider(5 1 ) to slide and the bypass-valve which the movement depend on the pressure of oil as it opens and shuts the bypass-hole(44a). [40] The bypass-valve(50) containing the second spring(52) which be held by the guider(51) as it keeps the bypass-hole(44a) to stay shut by maintaining the lift(53) and filter-box(40) close together.
[41 ] The valve filter(60) filters the oil that enters through the bypass-hole(44a).
[42] The first spring (70) presses the valve-filter(60) close to the lower cap(44), and the filter-box(40) close to the top plate(31). [431 The oil filter with a magnet that is installed inside of the case(30) and catches metallic foreign substances in the oil. [44]
Industrial Applicability [45] 1 ) Excellent Filtering : Unlike previous filters where the oil was filtered through a paper filter and delivered to the inner engine without the residue being eliminated, this invention shows much more efficient filtering as the residue slides down to the lower part of the valve where the oil is filtered through a metallic filter.
[46] 2) Engine protection : As most residue from oil is eliminated, inner engine is protected along with the pathway thus making smooth ride possible for oil entering engine cycle. This will lead to increase in response, engine protection ability and fuel efficiency.
[47] 3) Less lubricant usage and reduction of environmental polluting substance : This invention doubles the filtering ability, as the past oil filter required an oil change every 5,000km, this filter makes possible a change every 10,000km~20,000km thus saving energy in the entire world and also reducing environmental polluting substances.
