Abstract

The object of the invention resolves the issue of constructing a container with openable lid, which may be used together with a motor vehicle seat armrest. The container (1), on the two opposing side walls has got a rectilinear groove (2) made on each of these, which constitutes a guide for the slide (3) being situated on one end of each of the two levers (4), by means of which the container (1) is connected with the lid (5). The lever (4) is formed in the shape approximating letter 'C'. The other end of the lever (4) is connected by articulation with the lid (5). Each groove (2) runs rectilinearly vertically.

Description

Container with lid
The object of the invention is a container with openable lid for application in armrests, especially in motor vehicle seats. «
The container with lid built inside into a car seat armrest is already known. The lid is connected with the container in its rear part by means of a hinge, the axis of rotation of which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of vehicle. The part of hinge assigned to the lid is constituted by two, rigidly connected to it, longitudinal arms being bent down archwise in the direction of their free end; on this free end there are through-holes used for passing through them the hinge rotation axis. In the mentioned arms, there are also made through-holes situated closer to the lid, through which a locating rod is passed. The container, in its rear part, apart from utility space, is provided with the second part of hinge. A shelf, durably connected to the container, enters into the composition of it, and forms an extension of the upper edge of container. It has got two rectangular openings used for passing through them the arms of the part of the hinge that is assigned to the lid. Under the shelf, there are, durably affixed to it, ribs with through-holes through which the axis of hinge rotation is passed. Moreover, the ribs are provided with slots running archwise, where each of the latter is provided with, at their upper part, an elastic locating protrusion that is directed to the inside. The locating rod, being placed parallel to the axis of hinge rotation, which is fixed in the openings of the arms of the part of the hinge that is assigned to the lid, shifs in the slots. The locating rod and the elastic protrusions in the slots cooperating with it are intended to set the lid in open position. There are cases, where the above-described container may not be made use of for the reason of its lid opening "upwards", which means that the axis of rotation of the lid is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of vehicle.
The object of the invention is to devise a container with lid which is opened "to the side", which means that the axis of rotation of the lid towards the container is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container, itself. Moreover, after its opening, the lid should be rested in a position approximately parallel to the external side wall of the container, as close to this wall as possible, and the edge of the opened lid should protrude beyond the top edge of this container as little as possible.
In order to accomplish the conditions as described above, in the first phase of opening the lid is raised up, then, it is tilted to the side and lowered to the position approximately parallel to the external side wall of the container.
The essence of the invention is the construction of container, on which the lid is fixed via a lever, by articulation. At least one of the side walls of the container is provided with a groove constituting a guide for the slide shifting inside it, which is fixed at the end of the connected- with-the-lid lever. The groove, together with the slide shifting inside it, makes possible to raise the lid at the time of container opening, and to lower the lid at the time of container closing. Preferably, the groove runs rectilinearly vertically. Slanted direction of the rectilinear groove is also possible, as well as is making a groove that runs curvilinearly. The lever connecting the container with the lid is preferably formed in the shape approximating the letter "C", and on one end, it is provided with the slide, whereas, through the other end, it is connected by articulation with the lid. Instead of a one-piece lever, it is also possible to use a set of a few levers interconnected with one another, either rigidly, or by articulation. It is also possible to assign the slide to the container wall and to make a guide groove inside the lever.
The basic advantage of the solution according to the invention is little demand for free space when placing the opened lid next to the container wall. It is especially important in case of using the container in a car seat armrest, where free space which may be taken up by the opened lid, is limited by lateral sections of seat back-rests. It is of no lesser importance that when the lid is opened, it protrudes over the top edge of the container only slightly. The object of the invention has been more closely explained with the example embodiment in the drawing, where: Fig. 1 presents cross-section of the container with the lid closed, Fig. 2 presents cross-section of the container with the lid in the phase of opening, and Fig. 3 - cross- section of the container with the lid opened.
The container j_, on the two opposing side walls has got a rectilinear groove 2 made on each of these, which constitutes a guide for the slide 3 being situated on one end of each of the two levers 4, by means of which the container J_ is connected with the lid 5_. The lever 4 is formed in the shape approximating letter "C". The other end of the lever 4 is connected by articulation with the lid 5. Each groove 2 runs rectilinearly vertically.
