  • the present invention provides a divider in the form of a corrugated member 30.
  • Corrugated member 30 which is also formed of paperboard or other suitable material is formed to have undulations or crenulations 32 which are oppositely opening.
  • the corrugated member 30 is sized to be received within interior 20 of package housing 14.
  • the length (L) of the corrugated member is approximately the length of the package while the width (W) of the corrugated member defined by lateral side walls 34 approximates the width of the package and which is slightly larger than wrapped gum pieces which are inserted therein.
  • the front faces 36 of corrugated member 30 extending between lateral walls 34 may include on the outside thereof, adhesive locations 37 so that the member may be adhesively secured within the package.

  • the corrugated member 30 When inserted in the package as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 5, the corrugated member 30 serves to separate the center-filled gum pieces 12 from one another. Such separation is particularly important with respect to center-filled gum pieces as it keeps apart the gum which has a soft or liquid center.
  • the particular configuration of the corrugated member 30 helps prevent crushing of the package housing 14. Crushing is a particular problem with respect to center- filled gum pieces, as if the package is crushed, it may result in crushing of the gum piece and undesirable release of the liquid center of the gum piece.
  • the lateral walls 34 provide rigidity to the package to prevent such crushing.
  • a pair of corrugated members 30 is used in combination with a double package assembly 100.

Abstract
