[Background Art]
The present invention relates to a hinge, in more particular, a hinge with magnet which has two hinge members which are fixed to the door and door frame respectively and rotate on a shaft. Of the two hinge members, one is formed with a stopper attached with a magnet rod and the other member is made of magnetic material, so that, when said two hinge- members open up, the magnet rod and the magnetic member attract each other to prevent the door from sudden closing by wind.
Generally, a hinge is comprised of two plates fixed to the door and wall respectively and a pin connecting the two plates which acts as the rotating shaft. Hinges are widely used in furniture and fixture which have opening and closing doors. However, as the conventional hinges open by angles wider than 180 degrees, doors may collide with the walls, damaging the doors and walls. In addition, as doors may be closed unwontedly by external forces such as wind, there have been such inconveniences as the doors have to be opened again, sudden clash sound, or even the danger of injury by being caught between the door and wall.
Users may wedge the doors to prevent aforementioned problems, and as the fundamental solutions, hinges with stoppers which can control the maximum opening of doors and fixing devices which prevent sudden closing of doors have been presented. However, they cannot have both the two important functions of controlling the maximum opening angle and preventing sudden closing, or complicated in structure, or manufacturing cost is high.
Furthermore, the existing hinges which have not stopper or fixing devices have to de discarded and replaced with new hinges, taking cost and waste of resources>
[Disclosure of Invention]
The technical constitution of the present invention is described herein below.
As shown in the Fig. 1 to Fig. 3, and Fig. 14, the hinge with magnet in accordance with the present invention is characterized by; being formed with a 1st hinge member(lθ) which has a stopper(40) which has a rotating hole(l 1) and is curved in ring shape, integrated to and extended from one side edge including a magnet rod(40) inside, and multiple connecting holes(12) are formed on the front side; the 2nd hinge member(20) formed with rotating holes(21) on one side and multiple connecting holes(22) on the front side; a rotating shaft(30) which is formed with a fixing groove(31) on one side, penetrating said rotating holes(l l)(21) formed by said 1st hinge member(lθ) and 2nd hinge member(20) and multiple bearings(33) having washers(32) on both sides and placed inside of said rotating holes(ll)(21) and jointed with the fixing member(35) formed with fixing projection(34) to rotate said 1st hinge member(lθ) and said 2nd hinge member(20), and said 2nd hinge member(20) opens at a certain angle with said 1st hinge member(lθ), attached with said magnet rod(41) to prevent the door from closing unwontedly by external forces such as wind.
As shown in the Fig. 1, said 1st hinge member(lθ) is a plate having a certain thickness, formed with multiple connecting holes(12) on the plate and at least one rotating hole(l 1) on the edge of one side. The material of said 1st hinge member(lθ) is desirably stainless steel which has good mechanical strength, and its dimensions and shape are adjustable according to the application. Said 1st hinge member(lθ) is fixed to the door frame to be connected with the door.
Said rotating hole(l 1) which holds said rotating shaft(30) to enable the rotation of said 1st hinge member(lθ) is provided at least one for the minimum structure for rotation. This document will describe an exemplary embodiment which has two rotating hole(l l) herein below. Said rotating holes(l l) are concaved by cutting for a certain length to have a certain width from one side edge of said 1st hinge member(lθ), and the protruded part is curved in tubular shape. Said rotating holes(ll) are formed to have the same inner diameters and in correct circle so that said rotating shaft(30) can rotate smoothly.
Said connecting holes(12) are formed on the plate portion of the 1st hinge member(lθ) so that the 1st hinge member can be fixed to the door frame(200) with screws(400) in multiple numbers.
Said stopper(40), which is the most characteristic part of the present invention, is formed in tubular shape surrounding said rotating shaft(30), extended from a side of said hinge member(lθ) along the rotating path of said 1st hinge member(lθ) and said 2nd hinge member(20), with said magnet rod(41) attached inside. Said stopper(40) is formed, in the process of forming said rotating hole(l 1) of said 1st hinge member(lθ), by bending a cut portion which is not bent completely to form tubular shape at less degree than the part which forms said rotating hole(l 1).
Said magnet rod(41) prevents the door from closing unwontedly by external force by adhering to the 2nd hinge member(20) when the 1st hinge member and the 2nd hinge member open at a certain angle. The magnet rod(41) can be selected to have strong magnetism so that the door can stand against strong wind.
Said 2nd hinge member(20) is made with plate having a certain thickness, formed with multiple connecting holes(22) on the plate part and at least one rotating hole(21) on one edge. The material of the 2nd hinge member(20) should desirably be light weighted, strong, and must be a magnetic material. The 2nd hinge member must be a magnetic material so that said magnet rod(41) can be adhered to, however, the part that contacts the magnet rod(41) may only be made with magnetic material. The 2nd hinge member is fixed to the door(lOO) and connected with the door frame(200), and its dimensions and shape can be adjusted to fit the application.
Said rotating hole(21) provides the penetrating hole for said rotating shaft(30) so that said 2nd hinge member(20) can rotate, and formed by one or more to support the rotation. The exemplary embodiment in accordance with the present invention described hereinafter has two rotating holes(21). Said rotating hole(21) is formed on one edge of said 2nd hinge member by cutting the 2nd hinge member at a certain width and length and bend the cut portion to form a tubular shape. Said rotating holes(21) are formed to have the same inner diameters, in perfect circle so that said rotating shaft(30) can rotate smoothly.
Said connecting holes(22) are formed on the plate portion of the 2nd hinge member(20) in multiple numbers so that the 2nd hinge member(20) can be fixed to door(lOO) with screws(400). Said rotating shaft(30) is formed with a fixing groove(31) on one end, penetrates the rotating holes(l l)(21) formed by said 1st hinge member(lθ) and said 2nd hinge member(20) and the multiple number of bearings(33) which have washers(32) on both sides and placed inside said rotating holes(l l)(21), and jointed with the fixing member(35) which is formed with a fixing projection(34), to rotate the 1st hinge member(lθ) and the 2nd hinge member(20).
Said rotating shaft(30) is a round-pin shaped spindle to enable the rotation of said 1st hinge member(lθ) and 2nd hinge member(20), and said bearings(33) which have washers(32) on both sides are provided to support smooth rotation.
According to the structure described hereinabove, with the hinge with magnet in accordance with the present invention, the maximum opening angle between the door(lOO) and the door frame(200) can be adjusted according to the bending degree of said stopper(40). For example, comparing the Fig. 4 and Fig. 13, the stopper(40) illustrated in the Fig. 4 has larger bending degree than the stopper(40) illustrated in the Fig. 13. The degrees of bending of the stoppers shown in Fig. 4 and Fig. 13 are illustrated in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 13, respectively, in perspective views to show the difference in the degree of bending. As shown in the Fig. 4, when the 1st hinge member(lθ) and the 2nd hinge member(20) are opened by about 90 degrees, the 2nd hinge member(20) and the magnet rod(41) adhere together. And, as shown in the Fig. 13, when the 1st hinge member(lθ) and the 2nd hinge member(20) are open by about 90 to 180 degrees, the 2nd hinge member(20) and the magnet rod(41) adhere together.
As was described hereinabove, by forming a stopper(40) which has a magnet rod(41) to a hinge, the maximum angle of the hinge can be controlled to prevent door(lOO) from colliding with wall(300), also preventing the door(lOO), when it is open, from closing unwontedly, or suddenly by external force such as wind, and the door(lOO) can be opened and closed by human power only. Fig. 2 illustrates the assembled status of a hinge with magnet, and Fig. 3 illustrates the parts unseen in Fig. 2 with dotted lines. As shown in the Fig. 2, as the stopper(40) covers the bearings(33) and washers(32) and joint part, the structure is simple with good appearance, causing less failure.
In the exemplary embodiment of the present invention described above, said 1st hinge member(lθ) is fixed to door frame(200) and said 2nd hinge member is fixed to door(lOO).
However, since the 1st hinge member(lθ) and 2nd hinge member(20) have about the same structure, as shown Fig. 15, it is possible to fix the 1st hinge member(lθ) to door and the 2nd hinge member to door frame(20).
According to another characteristics of the present invention, said stopper(40) is manufactured separately and welded to an edge of said 1st hinge member(lθ).
As shown in the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, by separately manufacturing and attaching said stopper(40) by welding, the hinge with magnet in accordance with the present invention can be applied to existing, conventional hinges which have no stopper. Therefore, the cost of replacing the existing hinge with new hinge can be saved. Furthermore, in a circumstance where plate bending process is difficult to be carried out, only the stopper(40) in accordance with the present invention can be welded to existing hinge, which enables diversified fabricating processes.
In addition, according to the characteristics of the present invention, an edge of said stopper(40) is bent to form a contact surface(42).
As shown in the Fig. 7, by forming said contact surface(42) by bending the end of said stopper(40) in a right angle, said magnet rod(41) can be attached to the stopper(40) more strongly. In addition, according to another characteristics of the present invention, said maget rod(41) is formed with silicon coating(43) on one side.
As shown in the Fig. 8 and Fig. 9, by coating said magnet rod(41), which is attached to the 2nd hinge member(20), with silicon(43) which has elasticity, the noise which is generated when the magnet rod(41) contacts metal surface can be removed. In more particular, the metallic sound generated at the time of contacting between the 2nd hinge member(20) and the magnet rod(41) can be absorbed by the silicon coating(43) between the two members due to the elasticity of the silicon coating(43). Such constitution can prevent the noise which may be generated when user opens the door, since the magnet rod(41) and 2nd hinge member can contact without sound.
In addition, according to another characteristics of the present invention, as said magnet rod(41) is so formed as to have its crossways length(a) is longer that the vertical length(b), and by forming the side of said stopper(41) has magnetism, the magnet rod(41) and the stopper(40) contact and separate by the force of magnet only so that one of the crossway section and vertical section of the magnet rod(41), which contacts the 2nd hinge member(20), can be selected.
As shown in the Fig. 10 and Fig. 11, by forming the magnet rod(41) to have different lengths in crossways and vertical, and by forming the stopper(40) to have magnetism on its side which contacts the magnet rod(41), the magnet rod(41) can be attached to the stopper(40) without additional jointing process, and the maximum opening angle of the hinge can be precisely controlled because the side of the magnet rod(41) which contacts the 2nd hinge member(20) can be altered between crossways and vertical direction.
