Abstract
Es werden neue Thieno[3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymere hergestellt, indem 5,7 funktionalisierte Thieno[3, 4.b]pyrazine mit substituierten Aromaten in Anwesenheit von Lösungsmitteln, Basen und Polymerisationskatalysatoren umgesetzt werden und die so hergestellten Copolymere vorzugsweise bei der Herstellung von photovoltaischen Zellen zur Anwendung gelangen.

[Bezeichnung der Erfindung:]
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolyme- ren, nach diesem Verfahren hergestellte Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymere und deren Verwendung
[Beschreibung]
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren, die nach diesem Verfahren hergestellten Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren und die Ver¬ wendung der erfindungsgemäßen Copolymere in photovoltaischen Materialien, wie Solarzellen, in Photodioden und Photodetektoren, sowie in organischen Leuchtdioden und Transistoren. Die Herstellung dieser Copolymere erfolgt durch Reaktion von 5,7-funktionalisierten Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazinen mit substitu¬ ierten Aromaten.
[Stand der Technik]
Polymere Thieno [3, 4~b]pyrazine der Formel IV sind bekannt (Don D. Kenning, Seth C. Rasmussen Macromolecules 2003, 36, 6298: Gursel Sonmez, Clifton K. F. Shen, Yves Rubin, Fred Wudl: Angew. Chem. 2004, 116(12), 1524-1528):
Sie werden durch Elektropolymerisation oder unter Verwendung von FeClß als chemisches Oxidationsmittel hergestellt. Die Polymere sind unlöslich und können deshalb nicht aus der Lösung verarbeitet werden. Alkylseitengruppen führen ebenfalls nicht zu ausreichender Löslichkeit. Das letztgenannte Verfahren ist außerdem dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass entweder Fe3+ komplex gebunden im Polymer verbleibt, was die Anwendung
einer Dedoping Technik, wie sie für photovoltaische Zwecke notwendig ist, unmöglich macht oder die bei der Elektropoly- merisation gebildeten Kationenradikale leicht überoxidiert werden und die Polymerisation versagt. Problematisch ist auch die hohe Sauerstoffempfindlichkeit der Polymere, wodurch die Anwendung erschwert wird. Es ist weiter bekannt, dass das Vorhandensein von Ethinyl-Bindungen aufgrund deren hohen Oxidationspotentials die Beständigkeit einer polymeren Verbindung gegenüber Sauerstoff erhöht. Es ist ferner bekannt, polymere Thienopyrazine als Lumineszenz-Schicht in lichtemittierenden Dioden einzusetzen (US 6,413,658 Bl, JuI.2, 2002, Erf. : Kattsumi Araki) .
[Aufgabe der Erfindung]
Das Ziel der Erfindung besteht darin, Copolymere zu entwickeln, welche die einer technischen Anwendung der Po- Iy (thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin) e entgegenstehenden Eigenschaften wie Oxidationsempfindlichkeit und Schwerlöslichkeit nicht besitzen, wobei die positiven Eigenschaften der langwelligen Lichtabsorption erhalten bleiben sollen und bei dem durch Variation der Comonomeren eine breite Palette von physikalischen Eigenschaften erreichbar ist. Es ist weiterhin Ziel der Erfindung, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b] pyrazin Copolymeren zu entwickeln, welches die negativen Eigenschaften der oxidativen Polymerisation nicht aufweist. Es ist Ziel der Erfindung, die erfindungsgemäßen Copolymere in photovoltaischen Materialien, organischen Leuchtdioden und Transistoren zu verwenden. Copolymere der erfindungsgemäßen Struktur und ihre Verwendung in photovoltaischen Materialien, wie Solarzellen, in Photodioden und Photodetektoren sowie organischen Leuchtdioden und Transistoren sind bisher aus der Literatur nicht bekannt.
Erfindungsgemäß werden das Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren sowie die Verwendung der nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren hergestellten neuen Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymere dadurch erreicht, dass 5,7- disubstituierte Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazine der Formel I mit substituierten Aromaten der Formel II und/oder der Formel III umgesetzt werden, wobei die Strukturelemente I und II, I und III sowie I und(II+III) bei der Polykondensation alternierend ins Polymer eingebracht werden (Molverhältnis 1:1) :

Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kann auch invers durchgeführt werden. Das bedeutet, dass das Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin an Stelle von X die Substituenten Y oder Yi trägt und umgekehrt. Die Copolymere können nach jeder geeigneten C-C- Knüpfungsmethode hergestellt werden, beispielsweise gelingt die Synthese durch Anwendung der Sonogashira-Reaktion, der Heck-Reaktion, Suzuki-Kreuzkupplung oder nach Wittig, Hor- ner-Wadsworth-Emmons sowie über die Knoevenagel- Kondensation. Das Verfahren kann so durchgeführt 'Werden, dass in Anwesenheit von Lösungsmitteln wie beispielsweise Toluen, Benzen, Dimethylformamid, Dimethylacetamid, Tetra- hydrofuran oder Dioxan bei Raumtemperatur oder höherer Tem¬ peratur, vorzugsweise 60 0C bis 80 0C, bei der Heck-Reaktion auch bis zu 140 0C, bei einer Reaktionszeit von 4 bis 20 Stunden die Copolymerisation erfolgt. Das Verfahren lässt sich vorteilhaft so durchführen, dass neben geeigneten Basen
(beispielsweise Amine, Kalium-tert-butylat, Kaliumcarbonat)
Polymerisationskatalysatoren, vorzugsweise Palladium ( 0) - oder Pd (II) -Verbindungen in Anwesenheit von Cu(I)- Verbindungen eingesetzt werden. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren gelingt aber auch ohne die Anwesenheit der Kupfer- Verbindung.
Als für die Copolymerisation geeignete 5, 7-disubstituierte Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazine (Comonomere) entsprechend der Formel I seien folgende Beispiele genannt:

Die erfindungsgemäßen neuen Thieno [3,, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymere zeichnen sich teilweise infolge des Vorhandenseins von Ethi- nyl- und/oder Vinylenbindungen innerhalb der Copolymeren, aufgrund deren hohen Oxidationspotentials durch eine herabgesetzte Empfindlichkeit gegenüber Sauerstoff bzw. eine erhöhte Beständigkeit gegenüber Sauerstoff aus, was sich wiederum positiv auf die Verwendbarkeit der jeweiligen Copolymeren in den geeigneten Fällen auswirkt. Alle erfindungs-
gemäßen Copolymere besitzen ein kleines Bandgap und daher eine langwellige Lichtabsorption bei gleichzeitig guter Löslichkeit und Filmbildung,- weshalb sie sich für die Anwendung in photovoltaischen Zellen, wie Solarzellen, sehr gut eignen. Aufgrund der ungünstigen Kostenstruktur anorganischer Solarmodule sind Photovoltaikkonzepte, die im Vergleich dazu niedrigere Investitions- und Herstellungskosten erfordern, hoch attraktiv. Im Falle der Kunststoffsolarzelle auf Basis der erfindungsgemäßen neuen Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren eröffnet die Polymerverarbeitung aus Lösungen mit geringen Energiekosten ein Potenzial zu einer low-cost Dünnschichttechnologie. Die Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Copolymere in Photodioden, Photodetektoren und organischen Leuchtdioden ist ebenfalls möglich. Desweiteren ist durch die gleichzeitige Anwesenheit von sowohl Donor- als auch Akzeptoreinheiten in den Copolymeren ein Einsatz in ambipo- laren Transistoren denkbar, welche es gestatten, Schaltungen analog zur CMOS-Technik aufzubauen, deren wesentlicher Vorteil im Vergleich zur p- oder n-MOS-Technik der geringere Energieverbrauch ist.

Ausführungsbeispiele 1-4 für die Synthese der erfindungs- gemäßen Copolymere
Ausführungsbeispiel 1 (Sonogashira; I+III)
In einem geeigneten Reaktionsgefäß werden zu einer entgasten Lösung aus 40 ml Diisopropylamin und 600 ml Toluen unter Aus- Schluss von Luft 476 mg (1,066 mmol) 5, 7-Dibrom-2, 3-diphenyl- thieno[3, 4-b]pyrazin, 500 mg (1,066 mmol) 2, 5-Diethinyl-3, 4- didodecylthiophen, 0,04 mmol Pd(PPh3J4 und 0,04 mmol CuI gegeben. Die Mischung wird 1 Stunde bei Raumtemperatur gerührt und anschließend 40-50 Stunden bei 65 0C erhitzt.
Danach gibt man die Mischung in Methanol. Das sich ausscheidende Copolymer wird abfiltriert, mit Methanol gewaschen und 24 Stunden mit Methanol extrahiert. Zur Reinigung wird aber¬ mals aus Methanol ausgefällt, mit Hexan extrahiert. Anschlie- ßendes Trocknen im Vakuum ergibt 0,7 g (87 %) des blauen PoIy [3, 4-didodecylthiophen-2, 5-diylethinylen- (2, 3-diphenyl- thieno[3,4-b]pyrazin-5,7-diyl)ethinylen] . 1H-NMR (250 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 7.37-7.06 (m, 10H), 2.63 (m, 4H), 1.48-0.64 (m, 46H) ppm. 13C-NMR (62 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 154.1, 148.3, 142.9, 138.7, 130.1, 129.2, 128.0, 120.1, 115.5, 95.2, 89.2, (-C≡C- ), 31.9, 30.2, 29. lf 29.7, 28.8, 22.7, 14.1 ppm. Ausführungsbeispiel 2 (Suzuki, I+II)
In einem geeigneten Reaktionsgefäß werden unter Luftaus- Schluss (Argon) 446 mg (1 mmol) 5, 7-Dibromo-2, 3-diphenyl- thieno[3,4-£>]pyrazin und 699 mg (1 mmol) 1, 4-Bis [4, 4, 5, 5-tet- ramethyl- (1,3,2) -dioxaborolan-2-yl] -2, 5-didodecyloxyphenylen zusammen mit 1,5 mol% Pd(PPh3J4 vermischt und mit einer wässrigen Kaliumcarbonatlösung 12 ml (2,0 molar) und 36 ml Toluol versetzt. Die Mischung wird unter Rühren für 72 Stunden auf 80 - 90 0C erhitzt. Danach gibt man sie langsam zu Methanol, um das Copolymer auszufällen. Es wird abgetrennt, mit Methanol gewaschen und durch mehrmaliges Umfallen weiter gereinigt. Nach Trocknen im Vakuum erhält man 0, 6 g (80 %) des blauen PoIy (2, 3-diphenylthieno[3, 4-b]pyrazin-a2t~2, 5- didodecyloxyphenylen)s. 1H-NMR (250 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 7.51- 7.32 (m, 10H), 6.77 (s, 2H) 4.03 (t; 4H), 1.83-0.74 (m, 46H) ppm. 13C-NMR (62 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 153.2, 151.1, 149.7, 149.1, 139.8, 138.3, 132.0, 131.6, 129.9, 128.4, 127.8, 127.4,

Die Mischung wird unter Rühren für 72 Stunden auf 80 - 90 0C erhitzt. Danach gibt man sie langsam zu Methanol, um das Copolymer auszufällen. Es wird abgetrennt, mit Methanol gewaschen und durch mehrmaliges Umfallen weiter gereinigt. Ausführungsbeispiel 4 (Ηorner, I+Il^)
In einem, geeigneten Reaktionsgefäß werden 0,67 mmol (0,5 g) 5, 7- (Bis-4-formyl-3, 6-dihexyloxyphenyl) thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin (Formel I, X =PhCHO, R1, R2 =H) und 0.67 mmol (0,426 g) 2,5- Dioctyloxy-p-xylylen-bis (diethylphosphonat) in 10 ml Toluen (wasserfrei) gelöst und unter Rühren und Luftausschluss (Argon) am Rückfluss erhitzt. Man fügt 2,67 mmol (0,300 g) Kalium-tert.-butanolat hinzu und erhitzt für drei Stunden am Rückfluss. Nach Abkühlen auf Raumtemperatur wird mit verd. HCl angesäuert, die organische Schicht abgetrennt, mit Wasser neutral gewaschen und getrocknet. Die Toluen Lösung wird eingeengt das Polymer mit Methanol ausgefällt, abgetrennt und danach mit Methanol, Aceton extrahiert und im Vakuum bis zur Gewichtskonstanz getrocknet. Das tieffarbige dunkelgrüne Polymer wird in 65 %iger Ausbeute erhalten. 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 8.57 (bs, 2H), 8.42 (bs, 2H), 7.59 (bs, 2H), 7.34- 6.87 (m, 6H), 4.2-4.12 (m, 12H), 1.93-0.88 (m, 74H) ppm. 13C- NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ = 151.3, 150.9, 149.8, 142.6, 140.5, 128.4, 127.6, 127.4, 123.8, 123.4, 122.5, 115.7, 114.3,110.7, 110.38, 69.97, 69.6, 69.5, 31.9, 31.7, 31.6, 29.6, 29.5, 29.4, 26.3, 26.0, 25.9, 22.7, 22.6, 14.1, 14.0 ppm. GPC (THF, Polystyren Standards) : H* = 64600 g/mol, Mn = 29200; PDI = 2.2; Pn = 27. UV-Vis (CHCl3): λmax/nm (ε/ (1 -mol"1 • cm"1) ) 326 (18200), 437 (33300), 552 (23400). Ausführungsbeispiele 5-8 für die Anwendung dieser Copolymeren in photovoltaischen Zellen
Ausführungsbeispiel 5 .
Für photovoltaische Zellen wird ein Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin- Copolymer gemäß Ausführungsbeispiel 1 mit R1 = R2 = Phenyl, Ar = 3,4-Dialkylthiophen mit R3 = R* = Ci2H2S als Elektronendonator und ein Methanofulleren, nämlich [6, 6] -Phenyl-C61- butylsäuremethylester (PCBM) , als Elektronenakzeptor verwendet. Auf ein Indiumzinnoxid (ITO, 100 nm) beschichtetes Substrat (Polyester) , das als transparente Frontelektrode dient, wird eine Schicht aus Polyethylendioxythiophen- Polystyrenlsulfonat (PEDOT-PSS, Baytron P, H. C. Starck, wäßrige Suspension) in einer Dicke von ca. 100 nm mittels Spincoating aufgebracht. Anschließend wird als photoaktive Schicht ein Komposit aus dem im Beispiel genannten Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin-Copolymer und PCBM (1:1 Masseverhältnis) in Form einer Lösung ebenfalls durch Spincoating aufgebracht (Schichtdicke ca. 100 nm) . Als Lösungsmittel dient Chlorbenzol. Die photovoltaische Zelle wird komplettiert durch eine thermisch aufgedampfte Aluminiumelektrode und anschließend durch Aufnahme von Strom-Spannungskennlinien mittels eines AMl .5 Sonnensimulators (100 mW/cm2) charakterisiert. Die so erhaltene Solarzelle weist einen Kurzschlußström von 10,72 mA/cm2, eine LeerlaufSpannung von 670 mV, einen Füllfaktor von 0,33 sowie einen Wirkungsgrad von 2,37 % auf.
Ausführungsbeispiel 6 Für photovoltaische Zellen wird ein Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin- Copolymer gemäß Ausführungsbeispiel 1 mit Ri = R2 = Phenyl, Ar = 3,4-Dialkylthiophen mit R3 = R4 = C12H25 als Elektronendonator und ein Methanofulleren, nämlich [6, 6] -Phenyl-C61- butylsäuremethylester (PCBM) , als Elektronenakzeptor verwen- det. Auf ein Indiumzinnoxid (ITO, 100 nm) beschichtetes Substrat (Polyester) , das als transparente Frontelektrode dient, wird eine Schicht aus Polyethylendioxythiophen- Polystyrenlsulfonat (PEDOT-PSS, Baytron P, H. C. Starck, wäßrige Suspension) in einer Dicke von ca. 100 nm mittels
Spincoating aufgebracht. Anschließend wird als photoaktive Schicht ein Komposit aus dem im. Beispiel genannten Thie- no[3, 4-b]pyrazin-Copolymer und PCBM (1:2 Masseverhältnis) in Form einer Lösung ebenfalls durch Spincoating aufgebracht (Schichtdicke ca. 100 nm) . Als Lösungsmittel dient Chlorbenzol. Die photovoltaische Zelle wird komplettiert durch eine thermisch aufgedampfte Aluminiumelektrode und anschließend durch Aufnahme von Strom-Spannungskennlinien mittels eines AMl.5 Sonnensimulators (100 mW/cm2) charakterisiert. Die so erhaltene Solarzelle weist einen Kurzschlußstrom von 8,90 mΑ/cm2 f eine Leerlaufspannung von 690 mV, einen Füllfaktor von 0,37 sowie einen Wirkungsgrad von 2,27 % auf.
Ausführungsbeispiel 7 Für photovoltaische Zellen wird ein Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin- Copolymer gemäß Ausführungsbeispiel 1 mit Ri = Rs = Phenyl, Ar = 2, 5-Dialkoxyphenylen mit R3 = R4 = OCi2H2S als Elektronendonator und ein Methanofulleren, nämlich [6, 6] -Phenyl-C61- butylsäuremethylester (PCBM) , als Elektronenakzeptor verwen- det. Auf ein Indiumzinnoxid (ITO, 100 nm) beschichtetes Substrat (Polyester) , das als transparente Frontelektrode dient, wird eine Schicht aus Polyethylendioxythiqphen- Polystyrenlsulfonat (PEDOT-PSS, Baytron P, H. C. Starck, wäßrige Suspension) in einer Dicke von ca. 100 nm mittels Spincoating aufgebracht. Anschließend wird als photoaktive Schicht ein Komposit aus dem im Beispiel genannten Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin-Copolymer und PCBM (1:2 Masseverhältnis) in Form einer Lösung ebenfalls durch Spincoating aufgebracht (Schichtdicke ca. 100 nm) . Als Lösungsmittel dient Chlorben- zol. Die photovoltaische Zelle wird komplettiert durch eine thermisch aufgedampfte Aluminiumelektrode und anschließend durch Aufnahme von Strom-Spannungskennlinien mittels eines AMl.5 Sonnensimulators (100 mW/cm2) charakterisiert. Die so erhaltene Solarzelle weist einen KurzSchlußström von 4,52
mA/cm2, eine Leerlaufspannung von 700 mV, einen Füllfaktor von 0,43 sowie einen Wirkungsgrad von 1,36 % auf.
Ausführungsbeispiel 8 Für photovoltaische Zellen wird ein Thieno [3, 4b]pyrazin- Copolymer gemäß Ausführungsbeispiel 1 mit Ri = R2 = Phenyl, Ar = 2, 5-Dialkoxyphenylen mit R3 = R4 = OCi2H2S als Elektronendonator und ein Methanofulleren, nämlich [6, 6] -Phenyl-C61- butylsäuremethylester (PCBM) , als Elektronenakzeptor verwen- det. Auf ein Indiumzinnoxid (ITO, 100 raα) beschichtetes Substrat (Polyester), das als transparente Frontelektrode dient, wird eine Schicht aus Polyethylendioxythiophen- Polystyrenlsulfonat (PEDOT-PSS, Baytron P, H. C. Starck, wäßrige Suspension) in einer Dicke von ca. 100 nm mittels Spincoating aufgebracht. Anschließend wird als photoaktive Schicht ein Komposit aus dem im Beispiel genannten Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin-Copolymer und PCBM (1:3 Masseverhältnis) in Form einer Lösung ebenfalls durch Spincoating aufgebracht (Schichtdicke ca. 100 nm) . Als Lösungsmittel dient Chlorben- zol. Die photovoltaische Zelle wird komplettiert durch eine thermisch aufgedampfte Aluminiumelektrode und anschließend durch Aufnahme von Strom-Spannungskennlinien mittels eines AMl .5 Sonnensimulators (100 mW/cm2) charakterisiert. Die so erhaltene Solarzelle weist einen Kurzschlußstrom von 3,53 mA/cm2, eine Leerlaufspannung von 725 mV, einen Füllfaktor von 0,44 sowie einen Wirkungsgrad von 1,13 % auf.
Claims
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno[3, 4-b]pyrazin Copoly- meren bei dem 5, 7-disubstituierte Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazine der Formel I mit substituierten Aromaten der Formel II und/oder der Formel III in Anwesenheit von Lösungsmitteln, geeigneten Basen und Polymerisationskatalysatoren umgesetzt werden:

2. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copoly- meren nach Anspruch 1 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Verfahren mit inverser Substitution durchgeführt wird, das heißt, X und Y sowie X und Yi sind vertauschbar
3. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copoly- meren nach Anspruch 1 und 2 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Molverhältnis der monomeren Strukturelemente I und II, I und III sowie I und (II+III) nach der Umsetzung in den jeweiligen Copolymeren 1:1 beträgt.
4. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren nach Anspruch 1 bis 3 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Verfahren in Anwesenheit von Lösungsmitteln wie z.B. Toluen, Benzen, Dirnethylformamid, Dimethylacetamid, Tetra- hydrofuran oder Dioxan , von Basen wie z.B. Amine, KaIi- um-tert-butylat, Kaliumcarbonat und von Polymerisationska¬ talysatoren wie z.B. Palladium(O) - oder Pd(II)- Verbindungen in oder ohne Anwesenheit von Cu(I)- Verbindungen durchgeführt wird.
5. Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymere hergestellt nach dem Verfahren der Ansprüche 1 bis 4.
6. Verwendung der Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren, hergestellt nach dem Verfahren der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, für pho- tovoltaische Materialien, wie z. B. Solarzellen, Photodio¬ den und Photodetektoren.
7. Verwendung der Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren, herge¬ stellt nach dem Verfahren der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, für orga¬ nische Leuchtdioden.
8. Verwendung der Thieno [3, 4-b]pyrazin Copolymeren, hergestellt nach dem Verfahren der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, für organische Transistoren.
