Abstract

The invention concerns a built-in lighting device comprising an anchoring frame (11) forming a housing with a front frame (13), a supporting head (15) associated with said frame and oscillating at an angle on a first axis (7), a primary support (1-9) associated with said head and orientatable on a second axis (20) perpendicular to the first. A secondary support (21) is connected to the main support (19) to follow its direction and holds a reflector (22) with relative light source (23). The auxiliary support together with said reflector is movable between a retracted position, where said auxiliary support is almost on a level with the edge of the anchoring frame and a forward position, protruding from the front of said frame to spread the light without interference from the anchoring frame even when the auxiliary support with the reflector is directed at its maximum angle.

Description

"ORIENTATABLE AND EXTRACTABLE BUILT-IN
LIGHTING DEVICE"
******
This invention concerns a built-in lighting device that enables light to be diffused to cover a wide area.
It is already known for example from the EP-1 098 136, a lighting device, that comprises an oscillating head on a built-in body or frame and supporting an optical body that, starting from a position at a right angle to the installation base, can be tilted at a set angle in every direction to direct it in the area to be illuminated. However, given that the optical group in order to operate is set in the built-in frame, when it is tilted and orientated to its maximum angle, the beam of light from the relative light source can be intercepted by at least a part of the edge of the frame, thus forming an area of shade, with consequent unwanted limitation of the illuminated area.
It is the objective of this invention therefore to produce and supply a built-in lighting device for wall or ceiling lamps, which, besides being orientatable in all directions within a certain tilting angle, can be moved in a front direction to protrude from the anchoring frame so as to eliminate the cones of shade and be able to take advantage of a full coverage of light in any of its working positions.
According to the invention the objective is achieved by a built-in lighting device comprising a body or anchoring frame forming a housing with a front frame, a supporting head associated with said frame and oscillating at an angle on a first axis, a primary support associated with said head and oscillating and revolving on a second axis perpendicular to the first, and an auxiliary support, holding a reflector with a relative light source, connected to the main support to follow its direction and movable between a retracted position in the primary support and almost on a level with the edge of the anchoring frame and a forward position protruding from the primary support and from the front of the anchoring frame.
Furthermore, the auxiliary support, together with the reflector, can be separated from the main support at the front of the device at least for the replacement operations of the light source.
More details of the invention will become more evident in the
continuation of this description made in reference to the enclosed
indicative and not limiting drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows a side view of the lighting device;
Figs. 2 and 3 show, respectively, a view from below and a top
view of the device in Fig. 1 ;
Fig. 4 shows a vertical cross section blown up view of the device
in Fig. 1;
Figs.5 and 6 show, respectively. The lighting device in each of
the two operating positions;
Figs. 7 and 8 show the primary support (a see through view) and
the auxiliary support connected in a first and in a second position
respectively; and Fig. 9 shows the device with auxiliary support and reflector
separated.
As shown, the device under examination comprises a body or
anchoring frame 11 to be recess assembled in a corresponding opening
provided for example in a ceiling, where it delimits a housing 12
enclosed at the front by a frame 13.
The anchoring frame is held in position in said opening by flexible
perimeter grips 14, and a supporting head 15 is assembled in said
opening having two opposite and parallel primary arms 16 which are
pivoted to the anchoring frame so that it is subject to moving to and fro
on a first transverse axis 17. The oscillating head has two other
opposite and parallel arms 18 to which a primary annular support 19 is
pivoted so that the latter can move to and fro on a second axis 20
perpendicular to the oscillating axis 17 of said head.
The primary annular support 19 is associated with an auxiliary
support 21 , also annular, that houses internally a reflector 22 with a
light source 23, which is clasped in 22' and closed at the front by
hardened protective glass 24.
The anchoring frame, ...the oscillating head and primary and
auxiliary supports can be made of any appropriate material and/or with
ant surface treatment. The reflector can be anodized aluminium with
sanded high gloss internal finish; it is coupled to the auxiliary support by
means of a bayonet joint or some other connecting means. The light source can be metallic halides or made up of a usual light bulb.
Furthermore the device will be equipped with means of control and
protection according to the regulations in force.
At all events, and in agreement with the invention, the auxiliary
support 21 , with relative reflector 22 has an internal diameter smaller
than the internal diameter of the primary support 19 and is associated
with the latter so as to be positioned and stopped in two different
operating positions, besides being separable in the front direction.
For this purpose, as in the example shown, the two primary and
auxiliary supports 19, 21 are equipped with bayonet type means of
connection, that is by a partial rotation of one with the other. More
precisely, the annular primary support 19, has, internally, two series of
at least two circular grooved segments 25, 26 at two different levels,
respectively adjacent to its front and rear edges, whereas the annular
auxiliary support 21 , has, externally, a series of at least two circular
ribbed segments 27 adjacent to its rear edge, made to selectively and
complementarily engage with one or other of said two series of grooved
segments in the primary support.
Basically, the oscillating head 15, the primary support 19, and the
auxiliary support 21 holding the reflector 22, when assembled, form a
group that, thanks to the oscillating axes 17, and 20, can be tilted to a
certain angle, for example 35° to 45° to a vertical and moved in any
direction within this limit. In addition the auxiliary support 21 complete with reflector 22 forms an optical body that can be connected to the
primary support in two different positions for the same number of
operating methods and diffusion of the light emitted by the light source.
A first position is achieved by coupling the annular ribbed
segments 27 of the auxiliary support 21 to the series of grooved
segments 25 inside and adjacent to the rear edge of the primary
support 19, as shown in Figs. 5 and 7. In this position the
abovementioned optical body 21 , 22 retracts into the primary support
and almost on a level with the edge 13 of the anchoring frame 11.
A second position is achieved by coupling the annular ribbed
segments 27 of the auxiliary support 21 to the series of grooved
segments 26 inside and adjacent to the front edge of the primary
support 19, as shown in Figs 6and 8. In this other position the optical
body 21 , 22 is forward, protruding from the primary support and also
from the front edge 13 of the anchoring frame 11 so as to avoid ant
interference with the luminous beam by said front edge when the
oscillating group is positioned at its maximum angle.
Finally, it should be noted that, in either of the positions, the
auxiliary support, together with the reflector, can be separated from the
primary support in a forward direction from the anchoring support by
uncoupling the bayonet coupling devices turning them in the opposite
direction to the one used to couple them.
