Description
APPARATUS THAT PREVENTS FUELLING PETROL INTO A TANK OF THE DIESEL VEHICLE
Technical area
The technical solution concerns the filler hole of the tank of the vehicle with diesel engine preventing from erroneously replacing petrol and diesel oil.
Current technical status
On the basis of the current experience, a solution is known that prevents from fuelling diesel oil into the tank of a vehicle with spark-ignition engine using petrol, especially unleaded petrol. The danger of such erroneous replacement is avoided due to a smaller diameter of the unleaded petrol gun in comparison with the diesel oil gun. Thanks to this solution, it is not possible to insert the oil gun into the tank of the vehicle using petrol .
The opposite problem, preventing from inserting the unleaded petrol gun into the tank of a vehicle using diesel oil, has not been solved satisfactorily yet. There are several proposals that equip the tanks and guns with various electronic chips but such solutions are demanding in terms of purchase costs; it is also necessary to consider safety measures, e.g. danger of explosion, etc .
Fundamentals of technical solution
To a considerable degree, the aforesaid shortcomings are eliminated by the filler hole of the tank with diesel engine vehicle according to this technical solution. Its fundament consists of the filler hole that is
ended with a tilting flap, which is secured in the closed position with at least two safety pins, the control part of which is located in the inlet part of the filler hole before the tilting flap. The distance from the end of the control part of one safety pin to the end of the control part of another safety pin is bigger than the outer diameter of the petrol gun and smaller that the outer diameter of the oil gun.
In the advantageous design, the safety pin consists of a cranked lever, the control part of which is located in the inlet part of the filler hole and the controlled part is located on the closed tilting flap. The tilting flap and safety pins are provided with adv.anta<g:et>ius < (return!mechaiiiism. ϊ.Tέie'-flap

The advantage of this solution is especially the fact that it prevents. 'from fuelling ;petrol into a tank' of the diesel\ vehicle.1 With- respect, to the .fact .that the. filler hole of the.' -tank ; of ■■a vehicle : with- diesel engine.' is ended., with a :tilting flap: -that -.ds secured with at least ; two. safety' pints1 in its closed'.-pόsition> the control, part' of >iwhichι.is. located'-,in the- -inlet- pajrit »vόf uthe filler- hole--, .befote ''the stilting-^flap, /it -is necessary to -release all safety pins to open .the flap. As the distance- :from- the end of the control part of .one. safety pin to the' end of the control part of the other safety-pin is" bigger, that the outer- diameter of the petrol gun, if the petrol gun is inserted, all ' safety pins are. not released and, therefore, the flap is not opened. Releasing all safety pins is only possible if the oil gun is inserted, the outer ^diameter of which ensures that all • safety pins are released. . ■. !• : • .,, ;
If the safety pin consists of a cranked lever, the whole system is sufficiently strong and accurate and the costs of production and installation of such levers are low. Such levers also have long service life. With respect to the fact that the tilting flap and safety pins are provided with return mechanism, sufficient closing of the filling hole is ensured and, at the same time, undesired replacement of fuels is excluded. The flap can be provided with a venting hole or it can be made from a light-weight material. It enables extraction of gas substances and the whole design does not increase weight of the vehicle and handling the equipment during its installation is simple. If required, the safety pins can be interconnected with acoustic and/or optical signalling, which will issue another fuel replacement alarm. The safety pins can also be connected to vehicle alarm due to signalling an attempt to steal the fuel. The whole system can be made of easily available and price advantageous materials. The designed solution can be easily installed into both new and old vehicles. Owners of this protection will avoid possible damages that are caused by fuel replacement and that can be quite high in case of damaging the pump, the injection system or even the whole engine. Moreover, the vehicles equipped with this equipment become safer in case of handling naked flame at the filler hole.
