Abstract

A growth platform for growing green plants has at least one base container (a/l) and at least one other container (a/25), as well as at least one cover (a/2) arranged at a 'distance' above the surface of the base culture medium, creating a space (protection zone) in which the green plants are protected from animal access and the plant tillers are protected. Movable or fixed separating webs (a/9) are placed in the openings of at least one cover (a/2) through which the plants grow in order to limit their growth, and as a condition for the use of organically cross-linked polyacrylamides or the like polymers or superabsorbers (a/15) capable of storing liquid. Alternatively, a water vapour retaining cover (a/3a) designed with one or more sectors (chambers) can be provided to prevent the liquid introduced from evaporating into the ambient air, with the result that a large proportion of the liquid would no longer be available for plant growth. Another possible embodiment has at least one cover (a/2) with openings through which the plants grow and which functionally cooperates with at least one other cover (a/2) with openings through which the plants grow, wherein one or both of these covers, arranged at a distance from one another, can be moved or fixed, enabling the size of the openings or the amount of plants that can grow through the openings to be varied by varying the internal width of the openings or the extent to which they are mutually offset (shearing offset). It is also possible for at least one container (a/25) of water-conveying materials to be functionally connected to the growth platform.
