- MP3 players More recently, portable MP3 players have been sold, some of which have a relatively large storage capacity (for example, up to 60 GB). These MP3 players can accommodate up to 20,000 pieces of music.
- the invention has for its object to provide a novel system and a novel method for managing music data, and a device which can be used for such a system and / or a method, in particular a USB device.
- the invention solves this problem by the subject matter of claims 1, 13 and 16. Advantageous developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
- the object is essentially achieved in that a device is provided, in particular an MP3 player, which records a part of a played piece of music, in particular by means of a microphone, as a file (eg in MP3 or .wav format) and can save and this file when later connected to a computer can be transferred to this.
- a device in particular an MP3 player, which records a part of a played piece of music, in particular by means of a microphone, as a file (eg in MP3 or .wav format) and can save and this file when later connected to a computer can be transferred to this.
- the recording is compared by means of software on the computer or a connected server with a piece of music stored on a database and the result, in particular the title and artist of the piece of music, transmitted to the user of the device.
- the recording of additional users instead of comparing the recording data stored in a database 1 pieces of music, the recording of additional users, in particular, other such devices, transmitted for detection.
- the result in particular as to which title or interpreter is then transmitted by one of the other users directly or by means of a server to the user of the device, in particular by displaying on a website or within a computer program.
- the other user on a website or within a computer program given the opportunity to listen to one or more records to identify them if necessary (possibly after previously made by a comparison software a pre-selection or an identification proposal was made).
- the result of the further user can preferably enter this directly on the Internet page or within the computer program by means of a keyboard connected to the computer.
- the device has a USB port for easy connection to a computer.
- the device has a special push button, which is an automatic recording, in particular by means of a built-in microphone, in particular a piece of music for a certain duration, e.g. 10 or 20 seconds starts.
- a special push button which is an automatic recording, in particular by means of a built-in microphone, in particular a piece of music for a certain duration, e.g. 10 or 20 seconds starts.
- a conversion of the recording into a computer-readable format or into a format other than the original recording is automatically initiated
- each record is stored as a file in the memory of the device.
- each file automatically receives a name, especially with ascending digits (e.g., record1.wav; record2.wav ).
- the time (with date and time) of the recording is stored.
- the memory of the device for storing the recordings is a so-called flash memory, as used in so-called USB memory sticks or portable MP3 players.
- the memory is a hard disk memory, in particular a hard disk space small size as it is used in MP3 players use (eg in size 1 "or 1.8"), with the advantage of a relatively large capacity to provide can.
- the device is designed so that it is detected when connected to a computer, in particular by means of USB, as a so-called “mass storage device” or “mass storage medium”. This allows access to the device eg of Windows operating systems without using a separate driver, and allows a user or a special software on the computer directly to access the stored files, in particular to read, write, or delete them.
- all and / or selected records are automatically transmitted to the computer and / or a server connected thereto.
- the transferred recordings after the transfer possibly automatically - deleted from the device to release space for further recordings.
- so-called fingerprints are generated from the records prior to the transmission of the records to a server.
- the generation of fingerprints can be done on the device or on the computer connected to the device. This has the advantage that, on the one hand, only the fingerprints that are very small in relation to the files of the recordings have to be transmitted to the server and, on the other hand, a lower computing power of the server is required, which does not have to take over the creation of the fingerprints.
- the records transmitted to a computer for detection by means of the Internet are transmitted to a server.
- Listening to e.g. offered the first seconds of the song this is linked in particular to an Internet music download shop - or to a server operated by this - this is particularly advantageous to check whether it is the recognized music track to those whose part previously recorded has been.
- the option of downloading the title is offered in addition to the information on title and / or artist, this is in particular linked to an Internet music download shop - or to a server operated by this -.
- this is particularly useful if the user already has the recorded piece of music as a file (eg as an MP3 file).
- a software installed on the user's computer can compare the information about title and / or artist with the information about title and / or artist with pieces of music already stored on the user's hard disk.
- the user is offered a purchase and / or download of the piece of music, in particular on a website in the absence of the piece of music to be included in a playlist.
- the option of displaying title and / or artist of offered further music pieces that have recorded (or only own) other users who have also recorded the first piece of music is advantageous because the musical taste of the first and the further user could be similar if both of them recorded the same piece of music, so there is also the likelihood that further pieces of music of the further user will also correspond to the music taste of the first user.
- the first user can thereby music pieces that has also recorded the other user or has to buy and / or download offered
- a statistic is created which pieces of music were recorded most frequently by all users or by certain user groups, in particular summarized according to parameters such as age, gender, etc. This allows the creation of leaderboards of the most popular pieces of music whose individual pieces of music in turn users can be offered for purchase and / or download.
- the device additionally has a possibility for playing music pieces, in particular MP3 encoded music pieces.
- the device for storing pieces of music has a larger and / or a separate memory, in particular a flash or a hard disk memory.
- the device has a display, in particular to display the number of current and / or remaining records.
- the display is an LCD black-and-white display, allowing cost-effective manufacture of the device.
- the display is a color display, preferably a TFT or an LTPS color display, which offers improved reproduction quality.
- the device has a display or display capability of images stored on an internal memory, in particular in JPEG or GIF format.
- the device also has a display or display option of images stored on a device externally connected to the device, in particular by means of an integrated USB connection, in particular in JPEG or GIF format, and in particular of so-called mass storage devices compatible "media (eg so-called USB memory sticks, digital cameras with USB port or external USB hard disks).
- a display or display option of images stored on a device externally connected to the device in particular by means of an integrated USB connection, in particular in JPEG or GIF format, and in particular of so-called mass storage devices compatible "media (eg so-called USB memory sticks, digital cameras with USB port or external USB hard disks).
- the device has a display or display capability of stored on an internal memory movies and / or videos, in particular in AVI or MPEG format.
- the device also has a display or display capability of films and / or videos stored on a memory connected externally to the device, in particular in AVI or MPEG format, and in particular of so-called “mass storage-compatible” media (eg so-called USB memory sticks, digital cameras with USB port or external USB hard drives).
- a display or display capability of films and / or videos stored on a memory connected externally to the device, in particular in AVI or MPEG format, and in particular of so-called “mass storage-compatible” media (eg so-called USB memory sticks, digital cameras with USB port or external USB hard drives).
- the device has an integrated Bluetooth transceiver for connections, in particular for Data exchange and in particular with computers and / or mobile phones.
- the device has a microphone, which is integrated in particular in the housing of the device.
- the microphone is integrated in the earphones, in particular in its connection cable.
- the device has an integrated Bluetooth transceiver to connect, in particular to
- Earphone and the microphone of the device used to input or input of the audio transmitted from the mobile phone are Earphone and the microphone of the device used to input or input of the audio transmitted from the mobile phone.
- the Bluetooth transceiver is used for receiving stereo audio signals, in particular using the Bluetooth profile A2DP and outputting the received signals via the earphones of the device. This is particularly advantageous when music data (e.g., in aac or mp3 format) stored on a connected mobile phone is to be transmitted to and reproduced by the device.
- music data e.g., in aac or mp3 format
- the Bluetooth transceiver for receiving data or files, in particular of music titles (eg in aac or MP3
- the power supply of the device via a battery only when connected to a computer, the power supply via the connected computer can be done.
- the power supply of the device via a rechargeable battery.
- the rechargeable battery is charged when connecting the device to a computer.
- the device has a built-in clock.
- the date and the time of recording is stored in addition to each record.
- the clock or the timing signal which the timer of the device generates is also synchronized with the clock of the connected computer. This ensures that the clock of the device matches the clock of the computer.
- the device further comprises means for automatically transmitting the recordings stored in the memory of the device to the connected computer.
- the execution of the functionality of this device can be carried out, for example, by an automatic call procedure after connection of the device to the computer. This has the advantage that with each connection to the computer automatically the records to the computer or one connected servers are transmitted. If necessary, confirmation by the user can be requested before the transmission is carried out.
- the device is arranged to have means for automatically transmitting the recordings.
- This can be done by means of a so-called "autorun file” which is executed when the device is automatically connected to the computer and thus starts the corresponding functionality of the computer program.
- the synchronization program can be stored as an executable file in the memory of the device, which is then executed by the computer to which the device is connected to transmit the records.
- it can also be configured as a program permanently running on the computer to be connected, which then accesses the recordings stored in the first memory of the device after connection of the device and recognition thereof by the operating system and executes a transmission to the connected computer.
- the device comprises a first memory, which can be accessed by the connected computer as external memory, next to a second memory, on which the firmware for storing and possibly converting the recordings is stored. Only the microcontroller unit of the device can be accessed. This ensures that the program for storing and possibly converting the recordings can not be accidentally or deliberately modified or even deleted by the user who accesses the external memory.
- the records are stored in a predetermined format in a designated portion of the first memory.
- the first memory is the computer-accessible memory, part of which may be reserved for recordings.
- the recordings are stored in a fixed format, which allows the microcontroller in a comparatively simple manner, access the data, manage it, in particular to display the number of remaining recordings on a display.
- the firmware in particular of the microcontroller of the device, may be designed such that it allows the user to edit the recordings, in particular to play or delete them.
- the editing may be provided in "reduced form", ie. instead of editing using a full keyboard, there are only a few buttons for preset editing functions such as “scroll up / down, delete” or "play.
- the device stores the device, if this has a play option for pieces of music, when playing pieces of music, especially when playing pieces of music in MP3, wmp or aac format, from, when, especially relative to the beginning of the piece of music and / or with absolute Timing, and / or how often when playing a particular piece of music, the so-called “skip” and / or “fast forward” button was pressed.
- the “skip” button allows a piece of music to skip during playback and start playing the next piece of music.
- the “fast forward” button allows fast forwarding of a piece of music (ie playing with increased speed).
- this allows later to form a ratio, in particular in what percent of the plays a piece of music this was not completely listened to but skipped .
- information about the time of use of the "skip” or “fast forward” function in relation to the number of plays are formed, for example, it could be determined in what percentage of all plays the music already skipped after less than 10 seconds of playing time has been. Storing this information (via the use of the "skip” or “fast forward” function) is advantageously carried out on the memory of the device, which also serves to store the pieces of music. Alternatively, this information can also be stored in a special memory (eg a flash memory).
- the information about the use of the "skip” or “fast forward” function is stored so that both the device itself, as well as a device connected to the device, in particular for the purpose of synchronizing pieces of music, can read this data.
- the device or a computer connected to it can then draw conclusions about the popularity of the individual pieces of music. If, for example, in a piece of music in more than 70% of the plays the piece of music is already skipped before the end of the play, the popularity of the piece of music is most likely not very high for the user.

- the playback preferably takes place by means of a mediaplayer (eg the Microsoft Windows media player) located on the computer (6).
- the possibility of playing gives the user the opportunity to select whether or not it is a successful recording of good quality or not, and in particular whether a part of the piece of music was recorded as intended or not.
- the files can be transmitted automatically or manually by a user, in particular by means of an Internet connection from the computer (6) to a server (9).
- This server is connected to a database (10).
