The present invention relates to an equipment for closing and/or sealing for parallelepiped boxes with a single belt driving unit.
Equipments are well known for closing and/or sealing cardboard boxes, that include driving belts for moving the boxes along a sliding supporting plane.
Box moving belts are generally two for each equipment and are driven, continuously, by means of a special geared motor.
Said belts are, therefore, both driving and are a part of mechanically rather complex driving units.
In Italian patent application MI2004A 001498 of 23 July 2004 an equipment is described including two belt driving units driven by an inside geared motor that allows rotation of a horizontal grooved shaft.
Two angular transmission units, one for each driving belt, are connected to said horizontal grooved shaft and they allow rotation of vertical small shafts on which driving pulleys for said belts are connected.
Construction and assembling of the driving units are rather complex. More generally, driving of whole transmission unit requires a big energetic waste.
Object of present invention is to provide an equipment for closing an/or sealing basically parallelepiped boxes, which is provided with means for moving these boxes with a limited construction complexity that can be easily applied to the equipment.
According to this invention this object is reached by an equipment for closing and/or sealing basically parallelepiped boxes including a basic framework that has a sliding plane for these boxes, characterized in that it includes a single belt driving unit and in front a contrasting unit provided with low friction sliding means, substantially located parallel to said that
driving unit.
The movement driving mechanism is much simplified. The smoothness of the contrasting unit is exploited to limit the lack of a further driving force.
These and other characteristics of present invention will be made more evident by following detailed description of an embodiment thereof which is shown as a not limitative example in the enclosed drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an equipment according to present invention;
Figure 2 shows a top plan view of Figure 1;
Figure 3 shows a section view along line III-III of Figure 2 with an enlarged detail.
Figure 4 shows a section view along line IV-IV of Figure 2;
Figure 5 shows an enlarged section view along line V-V of Figure 2;
Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a second embodiment of the contrasting unit;
Figure 7 shows a perspective view of a third embodiment of the contrasting unit.
In Figures 1-4 it is shown a taping machine including a basic framework 1 with a sliding plane 2 for substantially parallelepiped boxes 3, a movable upper taping unit 4 and a fixed lower one, a belt driving unit 6 parallel to a contrasting unit 7.
Said plane 2 includes slide pads 8 having a high smoothness, that is with a low friction.
The upper taping unit 4 (Figure 4) is supported by a horizontal carriage 9 connected to a vertical guide 10 by means of slide rails 11 and driven by a vertical endless screw 12 that is driven by a crank-handle 14 and is engaged with a female screw 13.
The carriage 9 can be stopped in position by means of a knob type screwl5.
The belt driving unit 6 includes an horizontal grooved shaft 16, that is
driven by a motor (not shown) by means of a gear reducing unit 17 and on which an angled transmission unit 18 is mounted.
Said transmission unit 18 (enlarged detail of Figure 3) includes a bevel pinion 19 connected to the grooved shaft 16, that is geared with a bevel pinion 20 keyed to a small vertical shaft 21 with which a driving pulley 22 for the belt 23, which is kept in tension by a loose pulley 40, integrally rotates.
The contrasting unit 7 includes a supporting element 24 to which a slide pad 25 with a high smoothness is connected parallel to belt 23. Instead of slide pad 25, the contrasting unit may include an idling belt 26 kept in tension between two idle pulleys 27 (Figure 7) or many idle wheels 28 (figure 6).
The taping unit also includes a mechanism 29 to move away or nearer the driving unit 6 and the contrasting unit 7 in order to fit them to the dimensions of box 3.
Said mechanism 29 (Figure 5) includes a horizontal screw 30 with inverted threading driven by a handle 31. On both inverted threading parts of said screw (30) complementary connections 32 of said units 6-7, both having a second connection 33 (shown in Figures 6-7 only for unit 6) for a horizontal sliding rod are engaged.
The taping unit is mobile owing to supporting wheels 34.
As regards the operation of the moving mechanism for box 3, first of all it is necessary, according to the dimensions of box 3, to locate the driving units 6 and contrasting units 7 by moving the handle 31 and the upper taping unit 4 by moving the handle 14 and afterwards the knob 15 to block it.
By rotation of handle 31 in one or in the other side, units 6-7 move either nearer or farther.
When box 3 is in position the grooved shaft 16 is moved that allows movement of belt 23 that drives box 3 that moves on the high smoothness slide pad 25 of the contrasting unit 7.
The assembly of parts which allow forward movement of the box is much
simplified with reference to well known arts: in fact, there is only one driving belt 23, only one vertical shaft 21, and only one angular transmission unit 18.
On the other hand the result obtained is the same, because the weight of cardboard boxes even if full is usually small. Slide pad 25 with a high smoothness allows optimisation of used energy to move belt 23.
Besides, construction of this equipment in its entirety is simple and quick.
Claims
1. Equipment for closing and/or sealing substantially parallelepiped boxes (3) including a base framework (1) that has a sliding plane (2) for said boxes, characterized in that it includes a single belt driving unit (6) and in front a contrasting unit (7) provided with sliding means (25, 26, 28) with low friction, located substantially parallel to said driving unit (6).

Equipment according to claim 1, characterized in that said driving unit (6) includes a horizontal driven grooved shaft (16) connected through an angular transmission unit (18) to a vertical shaft (21) on which a driving pulley (22) of a driving belt (23) that is kept in tension by means of an idle pulley (40) is connected.
3. Equipment according to claim 2, characterized in that said angular driving unit (18) includes a bevel pinion (19) connected on said horizontal grooved shaft (16), capable to gear with a bevel pinion (20) connected on that vertical shaft (21).
4. Equipment according to any of preceding claims, characterized in that it includes a mechanical unit (29) to get nearer and farther said belt driving unit (6) and said contrasting unit (7) in order to suit boxes (3) having different dimensions.
5. Equipment according to claim 4, characterized in that said mechanical unit (29) includes a horizontal screw (30) with inverted threads with which complementary connections (32) of said units (6-7) are engaged.
6. Equipment according to any of claims 4 and 5, characterized in that said driving unit (6) and said contrasting unit (7)include further connections (33) for a horizontal moving rod.
7. Equipment according to any of claims 5 and 6, characterized in that said horizontal screw (30) with inverted threads is driven by a crank handle (31).
8. Equipment according to any of preceding claims, characterized in that said sliding means comprise at least one slide pad (25) with a high
smoothness.
9. Equipment according to any of claims 1-7, characterized in that said sliding means are made of an idle belt (26).
10. Equipment according to any of claims 1-7, characterized in that said sliding means are made of a plurality of small idle wheels (28).
11. Equipment according to claim 1, characterized in that it includes an upper taping unit (4) and a lower taping unit (5).
12. Equipment according to claim 1, characterized in that said upper taping unit (4) is supported by a carriage (9) connected to a vertical guide ( 10) by means ( 11 - 14) for vertical movement of said carriage (9).
13. Equipment according to claim 12, characterized in that said means (11-14) for vertical movement include at least one slide pad (11) with a female screw (13) that is engaged with a vertical endless screw (12) which is moved by a crank handle (14), said at least one slide pad (11) being solidly connected with said carriage (9) and being able to be blocked by means of a knob screw (15).
14. Equipment according to any of preceding claims, characterized in that it includes a geared motor (17).
15. Equipment according to any of preceding claims, characterized in that said plane (2) includes means (8) which have a high smoothness.
