L'invention concerne un procédé pour déterminer une pression préalable régnant entre un cylindre de frein principal (2) et une soupape d'entrée d'un cylindre de frein de roue d'une installation de freinage d'un véhicule automobile avec un système de frein électronique, le courant de moteur d'un moteur cadencé (5) d'une pompe (4) de refoulement de liquide de frein étant pris en compte en mesurant le courant lors du démarrage après l'application d'au moins une impulsion de tension au moteur (5).
