Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et/ou un système destinés à la poursuite d'objets, tels que des êtres humains, sur une zone étendue (c'est-à-dire sur une zone qui est délimitée par un domaine spatial important et/ou un domaine temporel de longue durée). Cette poursuite est facilitée par le traitement en temps réel ou quasi réel d'images saisies par chacun des capteurs d'une pluralité ou d'un réseau de capteurs stéréoscopiques légèrement juxtaposés, tels que des caméras stéréoscopiques. Le procédé et le système permettent, d'une part, d'obtenir une pluralité de segments de poursuite locale, la pluralité de segments de poursuite locale correspondant à un objet sous forme d'images saisies par certains des capteurs stéréoscopiques et, d'autre part, de combiner ces segments de poursuite locale de manière à former une poursuite globale.
