Abstract

A multi-user desk system for simultaneous use by one or more people. We describe an apparatus comprising a frame comprising a plurality of desk capsule receiving chambers; a plurality of desk capsules; and at least one moveable desk capsule support frame.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS Received by the International Bureau on 02 April 2007 (02.04.07).
1. A multi-user desk apparatus comprising:
(a) a frame comprising a plurality of desk capsule receiving chambers; (b) a plurality of desk capsules; and
(c) at least one moveable desk capsule support frame.
2. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 in which the plurality of desk capsules are each slidably mountable within and removable from a respective chamber to the at least one moveable desk capsule support frame.
3. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 2 in which each desk capsule is slidably removable from front, rear or side sections of the frame.
4. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3 in which the plurality of desk capsules are vertically stacked within the frame.
5. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any of claims 1 to 4 in which the at least one moveable desk capsule support frame is adjustable for height to facilitate removal of any of the stacked plurality of desk capsules.
6. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 5 in which a pulley and cable system provides the height adjustment means.
7. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 6 in which the height adjustment means is motorised.
8. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 7 in which the motorised height adjustment means is programmable and further comprises a series of sensors to facilitate precise positioning of a moveable desk capsule support frame operatively-adjacent to a desk capsule-receiving chamber. 19
9. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any of claims 1 to 8 in which the moveable desk capsule support frame is slidably engaged and mounted within vertical channels formed in the apparatus frame.
10. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 9 in which the vertical channels are formed at corners of the apparatus frame.
11. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 9 or Claim 10 in which the moveable desk capsule support frame is hingedly mounted within the channel of the apparatus frame to allow the support frame to be folded against the apparatus frame for storage or when not in use.
12. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any of claims 9 to 11 in which the moveable desk capsule support frame further comprises at least one support leg.
13. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 12 in which the moveable desk capsule support frame further comprises two support legs.
14. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 12 in which the moveable desk capsule support frame is demountable from the hinge attachment and comprises four support legs.
15. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any of claims 9 to 14 in which the support legs are adjustable for height.
16. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any of claims 9 to 15 in which the support legs further comprise wheels.
17. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 in which two moveable desk capsule support frames are provided for simultaneous use. 20
18. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 in which three moveable desk capsule support frames are provided for simultaneous use.
19. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 in which moveable desk capsule support frames are provided for each and every desk capsule.
20. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 8 in which a desk capsule is demountable from the moveable desk capsule support frame and engageable with at least one wheeled support element.
21. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 20 in which the desk capsule further comprises slots or channels hi an underside thereof for engagement with the at least one wheeled support element.
22. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 21 in which the at least one wheeled support element lockingly engages with the desk capsule.
23. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim in which the multi-user desk apparatus former comprises vertical privacy panels.
24. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 23 in which the privacy panels are hingedly attached to the apparatus frame.
25. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 23 or Claim 24 in which the privacy panels are demountable.
26. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim in which the support frame further comprises electrical service means.
27. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in Claim 26 in which the electrical service means comprises an electrical power supply and computer network and telephone connection means. 21
28. A multi-user desk apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim in modular form comprising a top mechanism-containing panel, front, back and side framework pieces, secrecy panels, at least one moveable desk capsule support element, and a plurality of desk capsules.
29. A desk capsule for use with a multi-user desk apparatus, wherein the desk capsule comprises a working surface, front, side and rear upright panels and a lid portion, and further comprises means for engaging a wheeled desk support frame.
30. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 29, wherein the desk capsule further comprises slots or channels in an underside thereof and with which the desk support frame is engageable.
31. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 29 or Claim 30, wherein the desk capsule is lockingly engageable with the desk support frame.
32. A desk capsule as claimed in any one of claims 29 to 31 in which the lid portion is hingedly attached to the rear panel.
33. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 32 in which the front panel and lid portion are integrally formed.
34. A desk capsule as claimed in any of claims 29 to 33 in which the lid portion further comprises illuminating means.
35. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 34 in which the illuminating means comprises a lamp.
36. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 29 in which the capsule further comprises a postbox, preferably located in the capsule front wall or the lid. 22
37. A desk capsule as claimed in any of claims 29 to 36 in which the Hd is lockable when closed.
38. A desk capsule as claimed in any of claims 29 to 37 in which the lid comprises a locking means for locking the lid in a working position.
39. A desk capsule as claimed in any of claims 29 to 38 in which the desk capsule further comprises means for connecting to the electrical service means of the support frame.
40. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 39 in which the means for connecting to the electrical service means of the support frame is integrally formed with the lid.
41. A desk capsule as claimed in Claim 39 in which the desk capsule is connected to the electrical service means when the capsule lid is raised and locked in a working position.
42. A multi-user desk apparatus substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
43. A desk capsule substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
