  • a problem that has come to light in locations of more extreme climate is sudden structural failure of one of these assemblies, resulting in structural collapse or complete separation of the parts. It has been observed that structural failure primarily occurs at the central part of the assembly at the interengaged toothed annular members. In some cases, this structural collapse of one coupling has given rise to strains and stresses in the other coupling which have caused a simultaneous or near simultaneous failure of the other coupling. The result has been complete separation of the handle assembly from the rest of the vehicle, which can of course have very serious consequences depending upon the location of the vehicle.

L'invention concerne un couplage ajustable au niveau angulaire (10) qui comprend une paire d'éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32) conçus pour rentrer en contact et se fixer sur des composants tubulaires respectifs (12, 14). Cette invention a aussi pour objet des dispositifs (24, 34) reliant les éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32) qui sont relativement mobiles au niveau de plusieurs positions possédant différentes relations angulaires entre les composants tubulaires (12, 14). Les éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32) sont formés dans au moins une matière plastique et le couplage (10) présente un dispositif de renforcement allongé (70) comoulé à l'intérieur des éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32) et disposé de manière à relier les éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32). Sur un quelconque défaut structurel des éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32) ou des dispositifs de liaison (24, 34), les éléments à bout femelle ou mâle (22, 32) restent rattachés ensemble.
