- This device consists of an impervious surface, preferably flexible, which isolates the resurgence, anchored at the bottom of the sea and reaching the surface where it is held by a floating dam, allowing in all cases the venting of the capture device.
- the device also includes a valve system at the bottom of the membrane thus allowing the salty water to escape; fresh water is collected by pumps installed on a floating device (raft) on the surface.
- Such a system may consist of one or more current meters installed at the output of the karst ducts and transmitting directly to the control center the speed of the outgoing current. Knowing the diameter of the duct, the flow is deduced immediately.

- the dam (circular or semicircular basin) must be equipped with an automatic control and alarm system capable of causing the opening and the neutralization of the system as soon as the instantaneous cumulative flow of the sources captured by the said dam exceeds a certain value determined for each installation after studying the case that concerns it. Indeed, in an active karst system, the flow can vary from simple to a hundredfold between age and age and exceptional flood.

- the dimensions of the set depend on each particular case but must be large enough to ensure a total volume of the basin equal to or greater than half the hourly flow of the sources included while keeping a potential of inertia capable of absorbing the variations , often violent, of the karstic network.
- the capture mode described can also be made of hard (cement, concrete, metal or other).
- this type of construction has the disadvantage, unlike the flexible device, to advantage nuisance due to turbulent flow.
- the installation of the flexible boom (4) is provided with a system for controlling the flow of the sources in real time.
- This system may preferably consist of one or more current meters installed at the output of the ducts 2, which transmit directly to the control center the speed of the outgoing current. Knowing the diameter of the duct, the flow is deduced in real time.
- the dam (circular or arcuate basin) must be provided with an automatic control and alarm system, capable of controlling the opening and the disabling of the system (feathering of the dam for example) as soon as the cumulative instantaneous flow of the included sources exceeds a value which is determined for each installation by a preliminary study of the particular case of the network concerned.
