A further object of the present invention consists of carrying out a system for conveying and selecting fruit and vegetable products applying the above described method.
According to the present invention a method is obtained for conveying and selecting fruit and vegetable products characterised in that it comprises: a step, wherein a table relative to a plurality of product related weights and to a respective range for each of such weights is obtained and stored; a step, wherein a series of data is set, as the selection of a discharge station among a plurality of said stations, to which the products are directed until a predetermined overall weight is achieved; a step, wherein a series of data is set, as the predetermined overall weight, in a determined range, of the transferred products in a seat of said selected station; a step, during which the handling of the specified products along a conveying line is carried out; a step of determining the weight along said line of the single product; a step of transferring the single product in said seat of said selected station; a step of storing for each said seat of the overall weight of the products that are gradually transferred to the various said seats of the various said stations; a step of comparing, for each said seat of the various said stations, of the overall weight of the products stored therein and the predetermined overall weight for said seat of said station; and a step, during which, in the case a predetermined overall weight for said seat is achieved, the feeding of said seat to a packaging step is ordered, whereas, in the case such a predetermined overall weight is not achieved, the transfer to said seat of products having a weight such that the predetermined overall weight is achieved for that said seat, is ordered.
According to the present invention a system for conveying and selecting fruit and vegetable products is also obtained, having: a conveying line for specified products; first means for determining the weight of the fruit and vegetable product conveyed along said line; a plurality of discharge and packaging stations, each provided with at least one storage seat for the products; an assembly, for each said station, for controlling the transfer of a product from said conveying line to a preselected station among said stations; and an electronic control unit for the operation of said conveying line, of said first means, of said stations and of said assembly; characterised in that it comprises a storage block, wherein there are stored a table relative to a plurality of product related weights and to a respective range for each of such weights, said stations to which the products having weight in a determined range are to be transferred, the predetermined overall weight, in a determined range, to be achieved for each said seat for all said stations, and the overall weight relative to each said seat as it receives the products, and characterised in that it comprises a block, wherein the stored overall weight of the products for each said seat is compared to the predetermined overall weight for said seats so that, if such predetermined overall weight in a determined range is achieved, the transfer of the products to the packaging is ordered and, should that not be the case, it is ordered the transfer to said seat of at least one product of weight such that the predetermined overall weight for said seat is achieved. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The present invention will now be described with reference to the attached drawings illustrating a preferred embodiment thereof and in which: figure 1 is a perspective view with removed parts of a system constructed according to the dictates of the present invention; and figure 2 is a block diagram relative to the operation of the system of Figure 1.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION With reference to the figure, it is indicated as a whole by 1 a system adapted to carry out the conveyance and the selection of fruit and vegetable products 2, comprising: a conveying line 3 for specified products 2 along a horizontal axis X; means 4 (of known type and therefore schematised) for determining the weight of the fruit and vegetable product 2 conveyed along line 3; means 5 (of known type and therefore schematised) for determining a further feature (as size, colour, etc.) of the specified product along line 3; a plurality of discharge and packaging stations 6 arranged on one side of said conveying line 3; an assembly 7, for each aforesaid station 6, for controlling the transfer of a product 2 from the conveying line 3 to one preselected among said stations 6; and an electronic control unit 8 for operating said conveying line 3, means 4 and 5, stations 6 and assembly 7.
The conveying line 3 is of known type and specifically exhibits a chain 9 displaceable along a annular path. The conveying line 3 supports, according to an even distribution, a plurality of brackets 11 supporting a respective plate 12. Specifically, each plate 12 is hinged to the respective bracket 11 so as to be able to rotate about a horizontal pin 13 from a conveying position, in which it results being tilted by a predetermined angle. The hinge pin 13 is arranged on the side of line 3 facing the stations 6. Each plate 12 integrally supports a respective bucket 14, on which the single product 2 is positioned. The conveying line 3 may be formed by a carrier defined by a plurality of rollers which are reciprocally parallel and orthogonal to the X axis; the single product 2 being positioned between two adjacent rollers.
Assembly 7 is of known type and specifically illustrated in the patent application of again the same applicant n. BO2003A00280. In any case, group 7 comprises a cam plate 15 installed on one side of line 3 at and on the opposite part of each station 6, a tappet profile 16 extending downwards from a corresponding plate 12, and an actuator 17 positioned near each cam plate 15. Actuator 17 comprises a stem 18 horizontally displaceable between an extracted position, in which it does not interact with the tappet profile 16 so that plate 12 and its tappet profile 16 remain in the conveying position and a withdrawn position, in which stem 18 pushes the tappet profile 16, through a body 19, towards cam plate 15 determining the contact between the tappet profile 16 and a rising ramp 21 defined on the cam plate 15 through a rotation of plate 12 about pin 13. Such contact increases the rotation of plate 12 and of its bucket 14 promoting the exit of the product from the bucket 14. Of course, cam plate 15 sequentially exhibits a rising ramp 22 that returns plate 12 in its horizontal conveying position.
Station 6 comprises a conveyor belt 31 and relative handling means controlled by control unit 8 and not illustrated as being of known type. Conveyor belt 31 exhibits, along its entire length, a plurality of appendixes 32 reciprocally defining a plurality of seats 33 in which, from bucket 14, the fruit and vegetable product 2 is discharged.
Bucket 14 is defined by a plurality of rollers 34 carried by two side fins 35 extending upwards from plate 12. Rollers 34 are parallel to the X axis, are idle mounted and define an upward concave resting surface for the fruit and vegetable product 2. System 1 finally comprises a block 36 connected to the control unit 8 for programming data and for specifically selecting station 6, to which products 2 having a determined weight, colour or other feature are to be directed, and to define for each seat 33 the overall weight of the products 2 conveyed thereto.
Figure 2 shows a representative block diagram of a system that carries out the control of system 1 through control unit 8. Specifically, starting block 41 is followed by a block 42, in which, through block 36, a table is produced relative to a plurality of predetermined weights and to a respective range for each of such predetermined weights . Such a table is stored in a memory block 43 of the control unit 8 (figure 1) . Block 42 is followed by a block 45, in which it is defined, again through block 36, which station 6 is to be concerned with a predetermined weight product 2 and this occurs for each station 6; of course, such setting being stored in block 43. Block 45 is followed by a block 46, in which, through block 36, the overall weight to be achieved for each seat 33 for all stations 6, is set in a predetermined range; this predetermined overall weight is also stored in block 43. Block 46 is followed by a block 47, in which it is set, again through block 36, which station 6 is to be concerned with products 2 having a common feature as e.g. colour; this setting also being stored in block 43. Block 47 is followed by a block 48, in which the motion of conveying line 3 is controlled. Block 48 is followed by a block 51, in which the weight determination through means 4 of each single product 2 carried along line 3 is controlled. Block 51 is followed by block 52, in which the determination of a further feature as the colour of each single product 2 carried along line 3 is controlled. As may be noted, control unit 8 is aware for each single product 2 of its weight, its colour, to which station 6 it may be channelled and of its position along conveying line 3. Block 52 is followed by a block 53, in which the transfer of product 2 to seat 33, to which it is destined, is controlled through assembly 7. Moreover, in such block 53 is stored in block 43 the overall weight that gradually results with the transfer of products 2 in each seat 33. Block 53 is followed by block 54, in which the stored overall weight of products 2 for each seat 33 is compared, through a comparison block 55 of control unit 8, to the predetermined overall weight for seats 33. In the case that such predetermined overall weight in a determined range is achieved, block 54 is followed by block 56, in which the feeding of seat 33 to packaging is ordered. Should that not be the case, block 54 returns to block 53 where transfer of a product 2 of weight equivalent to the lacking one in order to achieve the predetermined overall weight for seat 33 is ordered. The subject method of the present invention comprises : a step, wherein, through block 36, a table relative to a plurality of predetermined weights and to a respective range for each of such predetermined weights is obtained and stored in control unit 8; a step, wherein, through block 36, a series of data is set, as the selection station 6, to which products 2 of weight (in the range) equivalent to a predetermined weight are to be directed; a step, wherein, through block 36, a series of data is set, as the selection among stations 6, to which products 2 having weight equivalent to a predetermined weight and a further similar feature as colour are to be directed; a step, wherein, through block 36, a series of data is set, as the overall weight of the transferred products 2 in a seat 33 of the selected station 6; a step, during which the handling of the specified products 2 along line 3 is carried out; a step of determining the weight along line 3 of the single product 2; a step of determining a further feature (size, colour, etc.) of the single product 2 along line 3; a step of transferring the single product 2 in the seat 33 of the selected station 6; a step of storing for each seat 33 of the overall weight of products 2 that are gradually transferred to the various seats 33 of the various stations 6; a step of comparing, for each seat 33 of the various stations 6, the overall weight of the products 2 stored therein and the predetermined overall weight for such seat 33 of such station 6; and a step, during which, in the case a predetermined overall weight for a seat 33 is achieved, the feeding of such seat 33 to a packaging step is ordered, whereas, in the case such predetermined overall weight is not achieved, it is ordered the transfer to seat 33 of products 2 having a weight equivalent to the predetermined weight for that seat 33, until the predetermined overall weight is achieved for that seat 33. Essentially, after a table has been programmed, in which sample weights are predetermined and for each of these a weight range or interval is set, station 6 is selected, to which products 2 having the same weight and possibly the same colour may be directed. At the same time, the overall weight is set for each seat 33 so that, once such an overall weight is achieved, products 2 stored in such seat 33 are sent to be packaged. The previously predetermined overall weight may now be achieved either with products 2 of weight equivalent to a predetermined weight or with a certain number of products 2 of weight equivalent to a predetermined weight and at least a product 2 of weight different to the predetermined weight for that selected station 6. Finally, the most important feature is to determine the packaging of a plurality of products 2 having the predetermined overall weight. It would be desirable that such overall weight is achieved with all similar weight products 2, but in the case this is not possible, control unit 8 orders the transfer to seat 33 of a product 2 even having weight different to those already stored in such seat 33 provided that the predetermined overall weight, of course in the predetermined range, is achieved.
According to the above, the advantages obtained by the implementation of the present invention are apparent and numerous .
Specifically, a reduced size system is obtained, as along the same conveying line specified fruit and vegetable products even of different weight are conveyed, and such system is provided with an arrangement directing the various products having the same features (weight and possibly colour) to a station until a number of products achieving the predetermined overall weight for packaging is obtained.
It is finally clear that modifications and variations may be made to the method and system 1 here described and disclosed without however departing from the scope of protection of the present invention.
Specifically, the constructive solution of the conveying line may be different to that described, as long as the conveyance of single products exists. As the discharge and packaging station may be different from that described, as long as it is provided with a seat, in which products having similar features gradually accumulate .
