Abstract

La présente invention concerne un nouveau réacteur biologique séquentiel utilisé pour éliminer l'azote biologique d'eaux usées. Des systèmes de réacteurs biologiques séquentiels sont des systèmes particulièrement souples qui garantissent (par une succession de phases de fonctionnement) la nitrification, la dénitrification et la décantation des boues dans un seul réservoir. Une commutation raisonnablement fréquente entre des conditions de fonctionnement aérobique et anoxique élimine la croissance d'agents oxydants de nitrite et conduit à une dérivation effective de nitrate. Ce mode de fonctionnement présente l'avantage de réduire les besoins en carbone organique pour la dénitrification, les besoins d'aération (ce qui permet d'effectuer des économies d'énergie) ainsi que les quantités de boue générée.
