Abstract
この発明の無線タグ読取装置は、読取器7に設けられたリーダアンテナ6を昇降機構8により上下することにより、読取器7上に載置された収納箱3内の複数の無線タグ2に対するリーダアンテナ6の読取距離を可変でき、常に最適な読取距離が確保されることを特徴とする。

無線タグ読取装置
技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、収納箱に無線タグ (RFID)を取り付けた物品を複数収納し、この収納箱 に収納された各物品の無線タグ力もデータを読み取る無線タグ読取装置に関する。 背景技術
[0002] 無線タグを取り付けた物品、例えば書留郵便物を収納箱に複数収納し、この収納 箱の外部に配置した読取器で各書留郵便物の無線タグに記憶されたデータを読み 取る無線タグ読取装置がある。
[0003] このような無線タグ読取装置として、例えば、特開 2002— 337827号公報には、無 線タグを埋め込んだ配達証を書留郵便物などの所定位置に貼り付け、この無線タグ に記憶されたデータを読み取る技術が開示されている。
[0004] し力しながら、特開 2002— 337827号公報に示されている技術では、読取器に設 けられたリーダアンテナと無線タグとの応答距離が数 mmと短 、ため、無線タグを精 度良く物品の所定位置に貼り付ける必要があり、さらに無線タグとリーダアンテナとの 距離を近接させなければならないという制約があった。また、複数の無線タグに対し て、全ての無線タグのデータが読み取れな 、こともあった。
発明の開示
[0005] この発明の目的は、無線タグに対して応答距離を長くし、かつ複数の無線タグに対 して全ての無線タグのデータを読み取ることのできる無線タグ読取装置を提供するこ とである。
[0006] この発明は、質問器に接続されたリーダアンテナと、無線タグを有する物品を複数 収納する収納箱とを備え、上記リーダアンテナは上記無線タグとの距離を可変できる 調整手段が設けられていることを特徴とする無線タグ読取装置を提供するものである
[0007] すなわち、上記無線タグ読取装置は、無線タグとリーダアンテナ間の距離を最適に することができ、複数の無線タグに対して全ての無線タグのデータを読み取ることが
できる。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0009] 以下、図面を参照して、この発明の実施の形態について詳細に説明する。
[0010] 図 1は、この発明に係る無線タグ読取装置の外観構成を示すものである。すなわち
、本無線タグ読取装置は、質問器 4、リーダアンテナ 6を有する読取器 7とから構成さ れている。質問器 4及び読取器 7には、パーソナルコンピュータ(PC) 10が接続され ている。

複数の封筒 1に取り付けられた各無線タグ 2は、それぞれ異なる 情報を記憶して!/、 る。無線タグ 2は、 ICチップとアンテナによって構成されており、 ICチップ内に HD情報 等の情報が記憶されている。また、無線タグ 2は、リーダアンテナ 6から入力される電 磁波により ICチップが起動され、 ICチップ内の情報を自身のアンテナから出力する。
[0012] 3はこの封筒 1を重ねるように並べて収納する収納箱で、この収納箱 3は封筒 1を局 から局へ転送する場合に使用される。なお、ここでは収納箱 3内に収納されている封 筒 1が見えるように、収納箱 3は点線で示している。 4は質問器であり、同軸ケーブル 5を介して例えば平面アンテナ力もなるリーダアンテナ 6が接続されている。リーダァ ンテナ 6は、収納箱 3が載置される読取器 (載置台) 7内に設けられている。なお、読 取器 7は、リーダアンテナ 6が見えるように一点鎖線で示している。また、リーダアンテ ナ 6は、昇降機構 8に支えられ、矢印 aの方向に上下移動されるようになっている。
[0013] なお、リーダアンテナの形状としては平面状ではなぐ棒状またはその他の形状の ものであってもよい。このリーダアンテナ 6の最大利得方向は、リーダアンテナ 6のァ ンテナ面に対して略垂直で、収納箱 1の底面に向いている。そして、複数の封筒 1が 、縦向きにして収納箱 3に入れられる。この結果、複数の無線タグ 2は、アンテナ 2の 最大利得方向に略垂直になる面に並べられる。
[0014] さらに、質問器 4には、 USB (Universal Serial Bus)等でパーソナルコンピュータ(P
C) 10が接続されている。
[0015] 図 2は、無線タグ読取装置の制御系の概略構成を示すものである。
[0016] PC10は、全体の制御を司る CPU11、制御プログラムが記憶されている ROM12、 データを一時記憶する RAM13、キーボート等の入力部 14、各種情報を表示する表 示部 15、質問器 4と接続されるインターフェース (IZF) 16、及び読取器 7と接続され るインターフェース (IZF) 17と力 構成されている。
[0017] 読取器 7は、 PC10の CPU11に制御されるドライバ 21、ドライバ 21により駆動され るリニアモータ 22、リニアモータ 22により昇降動作する昇降機構 8、及び昇降機構 8 により上下動されるリーダアンテナ 6とから構成されている。
[0018] ここで、図 1に示すような複数の無線タグ 2とリーダアンテナ 6との距離 (以下、読取 距離と記述する)について説明する。
[0019] 図 3は、約 3mm間隔に 40枚並べた無線タグ 2をリーダアンテナ 6で読み取ったとき の測定結果の一例を示すものである。無線タグ 2は、無線タグの並び方向がリーダァ ンテナ 6の最大利得方向に対して略直交するように配置されている。ここで、無線タグ
2は、 2. 4GHz帯に対応したものを使っている。 2. 4GHz帯は、 13. 56MHz帯の電 磁誘導方式を使ったものと比べて、読取距離を長くすることができるという利点がある
。図において、横軸は無線タグ 2とリーダアンテナ 6間の読取距離、縦軸が無線タグ 2 の読み取り可能な枚数である。
[0020] 図に示すように、読み取り距離が 25mn!〜 30mmで読み取り枚数が極小になり、読 み取り距離が 60〜70mmで最大の 40枚が読み取れる結果となっている。
[0021] このように読み取り距離によって読み取り可能枚数が変化する原因は、リーダアン テナの放射特性、またはリーダアンテナの放射した電波が無線タグによって反射する ことによる定在波の影響によるものである。
[0022] この結果から、読み取り距離は 65mm前後にするのが望ましいことがわかる。
[0023] し力しながら、質問器 4の出力のばらつき、リーダアンテナ 6の特性のばらつきなど により、常に読み取りに最適な距離が 65mmになるとは限らない。
[0024] そこで、リーダアンテナ 6は、昇降機構 8により上下することができる構成とすることに
より、無線タグ 2との読取距離を可変でき、常に最適な読取距離を確保することができ る。
[0025] すなわち、 PC10の CPU11は、ドライバ 21を制御して昇降機構 8を用いてリーダァ ンテナ 6を上下動させ、リーダアンテナ 6と無線タグ 2との読取距離を可変する。
[0026] なお、読み取りを開始すると同時に、リーダアンテナを上下に移動させることにより、 読取距離を常に変化させて全ての無線タグを確実に読み取るようにしても良い。
[0027] また、最初は読取距離固定で無線タグを読み取り、読み取れない無線タグの存在 が確認された際、リーダアンテナを上下に移動させながら再度読み取り処理を行うこ とにより、最初に読み取れな力つた無線タグを読取距離を変化させることにより読み 取るようにしても良い。
[0028] 上述した構成により、無線タグを封筒の端部に精度良く貼り付けることは必ずしも必 要でなぐ貼り付け位置に多少のずれがあっても、リーダアンテナを上下させることに より読み取ることができる。
[0029] なお、本実施例では読取距離を数 cm確保するために 2. 4GHz帯の無線タグを使 う例を示した力 900MHz帯でも同様な読取距離を確保することが可能である。
[0030] また、本実施例ではリーダアンテナを上下に移動させるようにした力 無線タグとリ ーダアンテナとの距離を変化させる方法として、収納箱 3を置く載置台(一点鎖線で 図示)の置き面を上下動させるようにしても良 、。
産業上の利用可能性
[0031] 無線タグに対して応答距離を長くし、かつ複数の無線タグに対して全ての無線タグ のデータを読み取ることのできる無線タグ読取装置を提供する。
[0032] 本発明によれば、質問器に接続されたリーダアンテナと無線タグとの距離を可変で き、リーダアンテナと無線タグとの間の距離を最適にして複数の無線タグに対する無 線タグのデータを読み取ることができる。
Claims
[1] 質問器に接続されたリーダアンテナと、無線タグを有する物品を複数収納する収納 箱とを備え、
上記リーダアンテナは上記無線タグとの距離を可変できる調整手段が設けられたこ とを特徴とする無線タグ読取装置。
[2] 上記複数の物品が有する複数の無線タグは、 1列または複数列に並んだ状態で上 記リーダアンテナとの距離を保っていることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の無線タグ読 取装置。
