Description

Description COILER FOR WIRE AND METAL BARS
Object
This invention relates to a coiler for wire and metal bars according to the preamble of the main claim.
Technical Field
The preferred domain of the invention, even though not limitative, is that of the automatic winding in compact coils of wire or metal bars from a hot rolling mill plant.
Naturally, the coiler can also be used for other work and both wire drawing and cold- rolling plants, or even for wire winding subject to further treatments, like for example in line heat treatment, surface treatment etc.
Background Art and disadvantages
In the present state of the art, coilers of the abovementioned type are known, which have different movement mechanisms both for the contraction of the winding mandrel and also for the opening and closing of the openable flange in order to allow the extraction of the coil.
These mechanisms are generally impractical, complex and unreliable.
Aim of the invention
The aim of the invention is to avoid the above-mentioned drawbacks and in particular to improve the movement system of the mandrel (contraction and expansion) and the external flange of the coiler (opening and closing) in order to ensure a secure and reliable functioning.
Summary of the invention
The problem is solved with the characteristics of the main claim. The sub-claims provide preferred solutions.
Advantages
In this way, a simple coiler is obtained, which is extremely functional and reliable. Description of a preferred embodiment
The invention will now be better understood with the following description of a preferred embodiment with the help of the enclosed drawings including substantially:
- in Fig. 1 , the view in radial, axial semi-section of the coiler with recessed mandrel sectors and upper flange sectors also recessed, rotated upwards;
- in Fig. 2, a view as in Fig.1 , but in which both the mandrel and the upper flange sectors are moved to the uncoiling position, namely the mandrel assumes the cylindrical shape and the flange sectors are directed horizontally;
- in Fig.3, a transverse view of the mandrel at the height of the intermediate lever that moves said mandrel sectors.
As disclosed by the above-described figures, the invention substantially relates to a coiler for wire and metal bars, of the mandrel type with a vertical axis involving a base flange (4) for the support of the coil base and mandrel sectors (6) hinged at the base (41) which can be moved on the upper part by a cylindrical shape with a conical form collapsed and corresponding upper flange sectors (7) hinged on the upper part (10) movable in concomitance of said mandrel sectors, respectively from a horizontal radial position to a position rotated upwards to allow the extraction of the coil and vice-versa, where, for the synchronous movement of said mandrel sectors (6) and said flange sectors (7) a coaxial device (2) able to be moved longitudinally along the axis of the mandrel is used, and involves:
- hinged (21) lever means (61) which are hinged (62) on an internal sliding seat (60) of said mandrel sectors (6), and
- upper rack means (22) which gear with corresponding arched toothing (71) coaxial to said upper hinging (10) and bound to said flange sectors (7); so that: - when said coaxial device (2) is lowered: said levers (61) are directed upwards and withdraw said mandrel sectors (6), while said rack (22) rotates said flange sectors (7) upwards;
- when said coaxial device (2) is lifted: said levers (61) are carried substantially radially and push said mandrel sectors (6) outwards, while said rack (22) rotates said flange sectors (7) downwards, namely, substantially horizontally. Advantageously there are four said sectors, but for small diameters there could be even more than four and for bigger diameters even three. More advantageously said flange sectors (7) have a tooth (72), which, upon lowering, embeds the top of said mandrel sectors (6) to prevent their additional expansion forced by centrifugal action during the rotation of the mandrel. In this way, the danger of accidents for big centrifugal masses, which rotate at high-speed, is avoided, with greater operative security. On said base flange (4) there are interchangeable teeth (42) to hook the rod or wire head for the formation of the first coil, by means of its clamping between said teeth (42) and the base of the mandrel (6).
In this way the constructive system of the base flange is simplified and the winding of different types of wire or rod, by interchanging said teeth, is possible. It will be noted that said mandrel sectors (6) and said flange sectors (7) are hinged (10, 41) to a central rotating body of the coiler (1 , 4). In this way the structure is particularly robust and functional. Said central rotating body of the coiler consists of an annular hub (1) and a base support flange (4) screwed to it. In this way there is complete demountability and interchangeability of the pieces that form the coiler. In the figures the support and rotation systems of the coiler are not shown, this being easily realizable by the skilled expert in the art, and making this part of the known art. In the same way, the axial movement means of the control movement sectors (1) are not shown, this too being in the domain of the skilled expert in the art, like for example, fluid dynamic cylinders placed under said load-bearing body (1, 4). The bind between said lever (61) and the respective mandrel sector (6) occurs with presence of a hinging with a slotted hole (60). In this way there is the advantage to avoid rigid binds that otherwise would need greater articulation, for such reason said slotted hole is inclined upwards, giving suitable clearance.
