Abstract

L'invention concerne des techniques de négociation de sessions de protocole point à point (PPP) sur un réseau Ethernet, qui consistent notamment à recevoir des données de configuration indiquant qu'un premier noeud est connecté à un second noeud par le biais d'un réseau Ethernet qui supporte des tailles de charge utile de trame Ethernet dépassant 1500 octets. Des données de demande sont reçues au niveau du premier noeud en provenance du second noeud. Les données de demande indiquent une demande de communications PPP entre le premier et le second noeuds moyennant une taille de charge utile PPP demandée supérieure à 1492 octets. On détermine une taille de charge utile PPP. Les données de réponse sont envoyées du premier au second noeuds. Les données de réponse indiquent que la taille de charge utile PPP supérieure à 1492 octets doit servir aux communications PPP entre le premier et le second noeuds. Ces techniques permettent une meilleure utilisation des trames Ethernet Jumbo, Giant et Baby Giant.
