  • the head 36 is provided with dimples (not shown) on its upper surface to assist in positioning a golf ball (not shown) on the head 36.
  • the head 370 has a radially outwardly projecting circumferential rib or flange 374 at its upper extremity and the head 370 defines a circumferentially extending groove 344 adjacent and axially inwardly of the rib 374, to facilitate gripping thereof when the anchoring portion 314 is being inserted in the ground or withdrawn therefrom.
  • the supporting portion 12 has projections in the form of screw threads 326 which engage with grooves provided by complementary screw threads 328 defined in the wall of the socket 322 of the anchoring portion 314, the socket 322 being defined in the head 370.

  • the end of the passage 482 of the collar 480 remote from the tip 440 of the spike 472 is constricted by a radially inwardly projecting lip 486, which abuts against the shoulder 484 of the supporting portion 12 when the golf tee 400 is in its assembled form.
  • the lip 486 defines a right circular cylindrical neck of the passage 482, the neck being slightly larger in inside diameter than the head 36 of the shaft 38 of the supporting portion 12.
  • the collar 480 has a radially outwardly projecting circumferential rim 492 opposite the lip 486 and the collar 480 defines a circumferentially extending groove 444 adjacent the rim 492, to facilitate gripping thereof when the anchoring portion 414 is being inserted in the ground and when it is withdrawn therefrom.
  • the tee 10 in use, the tee 10 is inserted in the ground with the tee more or less upright, as shown in Figure 1 , the apex 40 of the anchoring portion 14 being lowermost and the head 36 of supporting portion 12 being uppermost.
  • the golf ball 18 is positioned on the head 36, and if the rib 42 abuts the ground 46, as shown, the ball 18 will automatically be at an acceptable or predetermined height above the ground.
  • the golf tees 100 (Figures 3 and 4), 200 (Figure 5), 300 ( Figures 6 and 7) and 400 ( Figure 8) are used in a similar fashion, the collar 480 being screwed on the upper end 470 of the anchoring portion 414 when the tee 400 is inserted into the ground.
  • the invention also provides for a golf tee which can be easy to use as well as relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
  • the gripping formation on the anchoring portion can allow for easy insertion of the tee into the ground and removal of the tee from the ground. Insertion and removal can also be facilitated by the anchoring portion's being of a more rigid material than the resiliently flexible ball- supporting portion, as described above.
  • the anchoring portion and the ball-supporting portion can be sized such that, when the anchoring portion is more or less fully inserted into the ground, a ball will be supported at an appropriate, predetermined height above the ground.
  • the ball-supporting portion or the anchoring portion, or both can be manufactured in different sizes, thereby to allow a ball to be supported at different heights above the ground, as desired by a user, for example to accommodate different ground conditions or different types of golf clubs being used.
  • the invention can also provide for easy replacement of different ball-supporting portions and/or anchoring portions, which may be of different sizes as may be selected by a user, for assembly into a golf tee.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un tee de golf (10) qui inclut une partie de support (12) comportant une extrémité libre (16) destinée à recevoir la balle de golf et une partie d’ancrage (14) destinée à ancrer le tee dans le sol. La partie de support (12) est fixée à la partie d’ancrage (14) par emboîtement, une extrémité (20) de la partie de support formant un bout mâle s’emboîtant dans un bout femelle (22) défini par la partie d’ancrage (14), des nervures (26) formées sur le bout mâle (20) venant en prise dans des rainures (28) du bout femelle (22). La partie de support (12) est en caoutchouc ou en matière plastique similairement souple tandis que la partie d’ancrage (14) est constituée d’une matière plastique rigide. L’invention concerne également une partie de support de balle pour tee de golf et une partie d’ancrage pour tee de golf.
