Sensor (1), insbesondere ein kapazitiver Niveausensor, der ein Sensorgehäuse (3) und ein Sensorelement (5) ausweist, das mit einer Isolierschicht versehen ist und das an dem Sensorgehäuse (3) befestigt ist, wobei die Isolierschicht (7) aus einem feuerfesten nichtmetallischen Werkstoff besteht und eine hermetisch dichte Verbindung zwischen dem Sensorelement (5) und dem Sensorgehäuse (3) bildet und Verfahren zur Herstellung eines solchen Sensors (1).
