Description

Description
COSMETIC CONTAINER
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a cosmetic container for use in dispensing a liquid cosmetic contained therein, and more particularly, to a cosmetic container, wherein a proper amount of a liquid cosmetic is dispensed to a brush and then used by opening an outlet through separation of an outer cap and subsequent rise of a lift cap when a user applies make-up, and the outflow of the liquid cosmetic is shut off by closing the outlet through coupling of the outer cap and subsequent lowering of the lift cap after the use of the liquid cosmetic. Background Art
[2] Generally, a cosmetic container for containing a flowable liquid cosmetic such as a liquid foundation, a lip gloss or the like has a brush integrally formed with a mouth of the container. In applying make-up, the liquid cosmetic is supplied to the brush by inverting the container to cause the brush to face downward or by squeezing the container.
[3] Such a conventional cosmetic container has no opening/closing means for properly regulating the amount of liquid cosmetic flowing to the brush and shutting off the supply of the liquid cosmetic when it is not in use. Therefore, there is inconvenience in that the cosmetic container should be carefully stored such that the liquid cosmetic cannot flow out through the brush.
[4] As an example of a prior art for solving the problem in such a conventional cosmetic container, Japanese Patent Application No. 2001-40575 discloses a liquid applicator, which is shown in Fig. 9 that is a sectional view illustrating an assembled state of the liquid applicator according to the prior art.
[5] The liquid applicator 100 comprises an applicator body 110 with a reservoir 120 for containing a liquid application agent, a base 112 at a leading end of the applicator body 110 in which a brush member 11 Ia of a plurality of fiber bundles is implanted to be axially parallel to or directed toward the leading end, and a valve mechanism 122 installed at the reservoir 120 for use in supplying the application agent to an application part 111 and the brush member Ilia. The application part 111 is provided with a blocking element, which is formed with a liquid flow passage for allowing some of the application agent to be supplied to a leading end of the application part 111 while shutting off the application agent supplied from the reservoir 120.
[6] The liquid applicator 100 is constructed such that the liquid application agent contained in the reservoir 120 is supplied through a tube 113 formed at the rear of the base 112 with the brush member Ilia implanted therein. When the reservoir 120 is advanced, a certain amount of the application agent is supplied. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[7] In the liquid applicator 100, however, the reservoir 120 reciprocates in a fore and aft direction by means of a valve spring 122a installed within the valve mechanism 122. Thus, the reservoir 120 is not fixed in the advanced state but is immediately retracted and returned. Therefore, a certain amount of the applicant agent, which has been supplied to the tube 113 when the reservoir 120 has been advanced, is partially sucked from the tube 113 when the reservoir 120 is retracted, thereby reducing the actual amount of the application agent to be supplied to the brush member Ilia. Accordingly, there is inconvenience in that in order to dispense a sufficient amount of the application agent using the liquid applicator 100, the reservoir 120 and the valve mechanism 122 should be operated several times.
[8] Further, there are problems in that the liquid applicator 100 is complicated in view of its structure due to a number of parts, and a manufacturing process is complicated due to the assembly of the reservoir 120 with a plurality of parts after the reservoir 120 is filled with a liquid cosmetic. Technical Solution
[9] The present invention is conceived to solve the aforementioned problems in the prior art. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a cosmetic container, wherein when a user intends to utilize a cosmetic product with a brush, a liquid cosmetic is dispensed to the brush and then used by opening or closing an outflow passage only through separation or coupling of an outer cap.
[10] Another object of the present invention is to provide a cosmetic container, which is constructed such that a lid unit with a brush and an opening/closing means integrally formed therewith is separated from or engaged with a container body, whereby a cosmetic product can be conveniently and rapidly manufactured only through a process of filling the container body with a liquid cosmetic and engaging the lid unit with the container body.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [25] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. [26] Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a cosmetic container according to a first embodiment of the present invention. The cosmetic container comprises a container body 1, a lower cap 2, a packing body 3, a spring 4, a lift cap 5, a brush 6, a brush cover 7, and an outer cap 8. [27] The packing body 3 is inserted into and integrally coupled to a hole formed at the center of the lower cap 2. The brush 6 is fitted around and integrally coupled to an axial tube 50 protruding upward from the center of the lift cap 5. After the brush 6 is coupled to the lift cap 5, the brush cover 7 is fitted over the lift cap 5. [28] The spring 4 is interposed between the lift cap 5 and the lower cap 2 with the packing body 3 coupled thereto, and the lift cap 5 is then coupled to an upper portion of the lower cap 2 so that it can be raised or lowered. When the lift cap 5 is raised or lowered, it serves as an opening/closing means for opening or closing an outlet 51 that is an outflow passage of a liquid cosmetic. [29] Therefore, the cosmetic container shown in Fig. 1 is simply divided in view of its structure into the container body 1, the outer cap 8, and the opening/closing means that is an assembly comprised of a plurality of components. [30] The respective components of the cosmetic container according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below. [31] The container body 1 is a means for containing a liquid cosmetic therein. A receiving portion 10 in which the liquid cosmetic is filled or contained is formed within the container body 1, and a mouth 11 is formed at the top of the container body.
[32] Further, an outer periphery of the mouth 11 is formed with male threads 12 for thread engagement with the lower cap 2. An outer periphery of a lower portion of the mouth 11 is formed circumferentially with protruding ratchet gears 13.
[33] Here, the ratchet gears 13 serve as loosening-prevention means for preventing the lower cap 2 from being rotated in an opposite direction and disengaged when the lower cap 2 has been threadly engaged with the mouth. An inner periphery of a lower portion of the lower cap 2 is formed with ratchet gears 25 corresponding to the ratchet gears 13 of the mouth 11.
[34] The container body 1 is molded out of a synthetic resin, preferably, a flexible synthetic resin such that a liquid cosmetic can easily flow outward by enabling the container body 1 to be squeezed. Further, the container body 1 may be formed transparently so that the status of the liquid cosmetic filled or contained in the receiving portion 10 can be checked outside.
[35] The lower cap 2 is threadly engaged with the mouth 11 of the container body 1 to hermetically close the container body 1 and serves as a base on which the packing body 3, the spring 4 and the lift cap 5 that are main components of the opening/closing means are fixedly installed. The hole in which the packing body 3 is inserted and coupled is formed at the center of the lower cap 2.
[36] An upper portion of the lower cap 2 is formed with a rim 20 that enables the lift cap
5 to be inserted and fixed at the inside thereof and the outer cap 8 to be coupled at the outside thereof. The inside of the rim 20 is formed with a recess 22 of a predetermined depth in which the lift cap 5 can be inserted and then raised and lowered. An inner periphery of an upper portion of the rim 20 is formed with a protruding catching step 26 by which a protrusion 54 formed on an outer periphery of the lift cap 5 is caught, thereby limiting the movement range of the lift cap 5. An outer periphery of the rim 20 is also formed with male threads 21 for thread engagement with the outer cap 8.
[37] Here, it is preferred that the recess 22 have a depth enough to maximally secure an outlet 51 by allowing a lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5 to be completely separated from an opening/closing protrusion 32 of the packing body 3 when the lift cap 5 is raised.
[38] As shown in Fig. 2, an inner periphery of a lower portion of the lower cap 2 is formed with female threads 24 for thread engagement with the male threads 12 of the container body 1. A lower end of the inner periphery of the lower cap is formed with the ratchet gears 25 corresponding to the ratchet gears 13 of the container body 1. An inner bottom surface of the lower cap 2 is formed with a downward protruding guide rim 23 to come into close contact with an inner periphery of the mouth 11 of the container body 1.
[39] The packing body 3 is fixedly inserted into the hole formed at the center of the lower cap 2 and serves as a means for providing an outflow passage for the liquid cosmetic contained in the container body 1. The packing body 3 is formed at the center thereof with a space 30 into which the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5 is inserted, and with an opening hole 31 at a portion of a lower end thereof. Further, the opening/ closing protrusion 32 formed to protrude from the center of a bottom surface defining the space 30 of the packing body 3 escapes from or is inserted into a lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5 so as to open or close the outlet 51. Moreover, an outer periphery of an upper end of the packing body 3 is formed with a seating protrusion 33 that can be seated on the recess 22 when the packing body 3 is inserted into the hole formed at the center of the lower cap 2.
[40] Here, the opening hole 31 of the packing body 3 is formed to have a sectional area enough to allow the liquid cosmetic contained in the container body 1 to smoothly flow when the outlet 51 of the lift cap 5 is opened. It is preferred that the sectional area of the opening hole 31 of the packing body 3 be larger than that of the outlet 51.
[41] Although the opening hole 31 of the packing body 3 is formed only at a side of the lower end of the packing body in the cosmetic container according to the first embodiment of the present invention, it is not limited thereto. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, it is also possible to form opening holes 31' at both sides of a lower end of a packing body 3'.
[42] The spring 4 is a means for raising or lowering the lift cap 5 while being interposed between the lower cap 2 with the packing body 3 coupled thereto and the lift cap 5. When the outer cap 8 coupled to and positioned over the lower cap 2 is separated therefrom, the spring 4 is extended due to its resiliency to raise the lift cap 5 and to open the outlet 51 of the lift cap 5 at the same time.
[43] The lift cap 5 is coupled to an upper portion of the lower cap 2 with the packing body 3 coupled thereto while being supported by the spring 4 such that the lift cap can be raised or lowered. When the lift cap 5 is raised or lowered, the opening/closing protrusion 32 of the packing body 3 is caused to escape from or be inserted into the lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5, thereby serving as a means for opening or closing the outflow passage defined by the outlet 51 of the axial tube 50 and the opening hole 31 of the packing body 3.
[44] Therefore, the center of the lift cap 5 is formed vertically with the axial tube 50 that penetrates through upper and lower portions of the lift cap 5. The center of the axial tube 50 is formed with the outlet 51 through which the liquid cosmetic flows outward. Further, an upper portion of the axial tube 50 is tapered in such a manner that the outer diameter of the axial tube decreases toward an upper end thereof, thereby enabling the brush 6 to be easily fitted therearound. A lower portion of the axial tube 50 is formed to have an outer diameter that is identical to or within a tolerance range of the inner diameter of the space 30 so that it can be tightly inserted into the space 30 of the packing body 3.
[45] The outer periphery of the lift cap 5 is formed with the protrusion 54 to be caught by the catching step 26 formed at the rim 20 of the lower cap 2 in a state where the lift cap is inserted into the recess 22 of the lower cap 2, thereby limiting the raised level of the lift cap 5 and preventing the lift cap 5 from escaping from the recess. An annular rim 52 is formed to protrude from a top surface of the lift cap 5 around the axial tube 50. An outer periphery of the rim 52 is formed with a coupling groove 53 by which a coupling ridge 71 formed on an inner surface of the brush cover 7 is caught. Therefore, the top surface of the lift cap 5 is divided into an outer top surface and an inner top surface with respect to the rim 52. A flange 61 of the brush 6 is seated on the inner top surface of the lift cap.
[46] The brush 6 is fitted around and integrally coupled or attached to the axial tube 50 formed at the center of the lift cap 5.
[47] Here, as to a method of attaching the brush 6 to the axial tube 50, the brush 6 is fixedly coupled thereto in such a manner that a fixing protrusion 55 is formed on the inner periphery of the rim 52 of the lift cap 5 and an upper end of the flange 61 of the brush 6 is caught by the fixing protrusion 55 when the brush 6 is fitted around the axial tube 50. To improve the force of the fixing protrusion 55 for fixing the brush 6, it is also possible to apply an adhesive to a lower end or an inner space 60 of the brush 6 so that the brush can be bonded to the inner top surface of the lift cap 5.
[48] Further, as to another method of attaching the brush 6 to the axial tube 50, an adhesive is applied to the lower end and/or the inner space 60 of the brush 6 that in turn is bonded to the inner top surface and the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5, or the lower end of the brush 6 is thermally fused with the inner top surface of the lift cap 5.
[49] The brush 6 is a means for absorbing the liquid cosmetic flowing out through the outlet 51 of the axial tube 50 formed at the lift cap 5 and performing make-up using the absorbed liquid cosmetic. The brush is manufactured by forming a bundle of fur, a flock or the like into a proper shape. The brush 6 has an upper end formed sharply like a typical brush, and a lower end formed with the flange 61 that will be seated on the inner top surface of the lift cap 5. The brush 6 has the space 60 formed therein so that the axial tube 50 can be inserted into the space through a bottom face of the brush.
[50] The brush cover 7 is fitted over the brush 6 and coupled to an upper portion of the lift cap 5. The brush cover serves as a means for gathering an upper portion of the brush 6. A lower portion of the brush cover 7 is formed to have an inner diameter enough to be fitted around the rim 52 of the lift cap 5, and an upper portion of the brush cover is formed with a hole 70 for gathering the upper portion of the brush 6 and takes the shape of a cone with a diameter decreasing toward an upper end thereof.
[51] A lower portion of an inner periphery of the brush cover 7 is provided circ um- ferentially with the protruding coupling ridge 71 that will be caught by the coupling groove 53 of the lift cap 5. An upper portion of an outer periphery of the brush cover is provided with a projection 72 that will be caught by a step 81 (Fig. 2) formed on an inner periphery of the outer cap 8 when the outer cap 8 is threadly engaged with the upper portion of the lower cap 2, thereby lowering the lift cap 5.
[52] The outer cap 8 is a lid coupled to the lower cap 2 to protect the brush 6 when make-up is not being applied, and takes the shape of a cylinder with an open bottom.
[53] When the outer cap 8 is coupled to the lower cap 2, the lift cap 5 is lowered and fixed by means of the step 81 of the outer cap 8 and the opening/closing protrusion 32 of the packing body 3 is simultaneously inserted into the lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5, thereby closing the outlet 51 that is the outflow passage.
[54] A lower portion of the inner periphery of the outer cap 8 is formed with female threads 80 for thread engagement with the upper portion of the lower cap 2, and the step 81 is formed above the female threads 80 such that the step comes into contact with the projection 72 of the brush cover 7 to lower the lift cap 5.
[55] Fig. 2 is a sectional view showing a coupled state where the outflow passage is closed in the cosmetic container according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[56] The cosmetic container shown in Fig. 2 is divided into the container body 1 and a lid unit in which the lower cap 2, the packing body 2, the spring 5, the lift cap 5, the brush 6, the brush cover 7 and the outer cap 8 are coupled to one another. A liquid cosmetic is filled into the container body 1 and the lid unit is then coupled thereto, thereby finishing the manufacturing process of the cosmetic container.
[57] Next, the process of assembling the lid unit, and a state where the lift cap 5 is lowered and fixed to close the outlet 51 of the lift cap 5 will be described with reference to Fig. 2.
[58] The packing body 3 is first inserted into and coupled to the hole formed at the center of the lower cap 2. Thereafter, the brush 6 is fitted around the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 6, and the lower end of the brush 6 is attached or coupled to the inner top surface defined between the axial tube 50 and the rim 52 of the lift cap 5. Then, the brush cover 7 is fitted over the brush 6 to gather the upper portion of the brush 6. When the brush cover 7 is coupled to the lift cap 5, the coupling ridge 71 formed at the lower portion of the inner periphery of the brush cover 7 is caught by the coupling groove 53 formed in the outer periphery of the rim 52 of the lift cap 5.
[59] When the lift cap 5, the brush 6 and the brush cover 7 are completely coupled to one another, the spring 4 is positioned in the recess 22 of the lower cap 2 and the lift cap 5 is then coupled to the upper portion of the lower cap 2. At this time, the protrusion 54 formed on the outer periphery of the lift cap 5 is caught by the catching step 26 formed on the inner periphery of the rim 20 of the lower cap 2 so that the lift cap cannot escape from the lower cap. The lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5 is tightly inserted into the space 30 of the packing body 3.
[60] When the coupling of the lift cap 5 is completed, the outer cap 8 is coupled to the upper portion of the lower cap 2. At this time, the step 81 formed on the inner periphery of the outer cap 8 comes into contact with the projection 72 of the brush cover 7 and lowers the lift cap 5. When the lift cap 5 is completely lowered, the outer cap 8 is threadly engaged with the lower cap 2.
[61] When the lid unit has been completely assembled in the order described above, a liquid cosmetic is filled into the receiving portion 10 of the container body 1 and the lid unit is coupled to the container body 1, thereby completing the manufacture of a cosmetic product. At this time, when the lid unit and thence the lower cap 2 to be threadly engaged with the mouth 11 of the container body 1 is completely coupled, the ratchet gears 25 formed at the lower portion of the inner periphery of the lower cap 2 are engaged with the ratchet gears 13 formed at the lower portion of the mouth 11 of the container body 1, thereby preventing rotation in an opposite direction.
[62] In the case where the assembly of the cosmetic container of the present invention has been completed as shown in Fig. 2, the outflow passage for the liquid cosmetic is closed so that the cosmetic container can be carried or stored.
[63] When the outer cap 8 is threadly engaged with the upper portion of the lower cap 2, the spring 4 is compressed by the step 81 of the outer cap 8 and the lift cap 5 integrally coupled to the brush cover 7 is lowered. At this time, the lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5 is lowered in a state where it is inserted into the space 30 of the packing body 3 coupled to the lower cap 2. Thus, the opening/closing protrusion 32 of the packing body 3 is inserted into the lower end of the axial tube 50 and closes the outlet 51 of the lift cap 5.
[64] Fig. 3 is a sectional view showing a coupled state where the outflow passage is opened in the cosmetic container according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[65] To perform make-up by causing the liquid cosmetic contained in the cosmetic container to flow outward, the outer cap 8 of the cosmetic container is removed as shown in Fig. 3 and a user then squeezes or inverts the container body 1 so that the liquid cosmetic can flow outward through the outlet 51. Thus, make-up can be applied.
[66] Here, when the outer cap 8 threadly engaged with the lower cap 2 is removed, the outlet 51 formed at the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5 is opened and the outflow passage is secured. This will be described in greater detail below.
[67] When the outer cap 8 threadly engaged with the lower cap 2 is removed, the fixing force exerted on the lift cap 5, which has been lowered and fixed by the outer cap 8, is released and the spring 4 is simultaneously extended to raise the lift cap 5. The lift cap 5 is prevented from being raised when the protrusion 54 formed on the outer periphery of the lift cap 5 comes into contact with the catching step 26 formed on the inner periphery of the rim 20 of the lower cap 2. At this time, the opening/closing protrusion 32 of the packing body 3, which has been inserted into the lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5, escapes therefrom so that the outlet 51 of the axial tube 50 communicates with the opening hole 31 of the packing body 3, thereby securing the outflow passage.
[68] Therefore, application of make-up can be conveniently performed using the cosmetic container by causing the liquid cosmetic to flow toward the brush 6 only through the operation for removing the outer cap 8.
[69] Fig. 6 is a sectional view showing a coupled state where an outflow passage is closed in a cosmetic container according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 7 is a sectional view showing a coupled state where the outflow passage is opened in the cosmetic container according to the second embodiment of the present invention. A description of a configuration overlapping with that of the first embodiment of the present invention will be omitted.
[70] The cosmetic container according to the second embodiment of the present invention shown in Figs. 6 and 7 is substantially identical to that of the first embodiment of the present invention in view of their configurations and assembling methods except that the packing body 3 is formed integrally with the lower cap 2.
[71] The lower cap 2 in the second embodiment of the present invention is formed with a space 27 of a predetermined depth at the center of the recess 22 and an opening hole 28 at a side of a lower end of the space 27 so as to provide an outflow passage of a liquid cosmetic. An opening/closing protrusion 29 is formed to protrude from the center of a bottom surface defining the space 27 such that it can escape from or be inserted into the lower end of the axial tube 50 of the lift cap 5.
[72] Here, the space 27 is formed to have a depth identical to that of the packing body 3 in the first embodiment of the present invention. Like the variant of the first embodiment shown in Figs. 4 and 5, it is also possible to form opening holes 28 at both sides of the lower end of the space 27.
[73] Since the method of opening and closing the outflow passage of the cosmetic container according to the second embodiment is identical to that of the first embodiment described above, a description thereof will be omitted.
[74] Fig. 8 is a perspective view showing a state where the container body and the lid unit are separated from each other in the cosmetic container of the present invention. There is shown a state where they are separated from each other to fill the receiving portion 10 of the container body 1 with the liquid cosmetic.
[75] The cosmetic container of the present invention is conceived to conveniently and rapidly manufacture a cosmetic product in such a manner that the container body 1 is filled with the liquid cosmetic and the lid unit is then coupled to the container body, thereby completing the manufacture of the cosmetic product. In the same assembling method as described with reference to Fig. 2, the lid unit is completely assembled by coupling the lower cap 2, the packing body 3, the spring 4, the lift cap 5, the brush 6, the brush cover 7 and the outer cap 8 to one another; the prepared container body 1 is filled with the liquid cosmetic; and the lid unit is screwed onto the mouth 11 of the container body 1. At this time, when the lid unit is completely screwed down, the ratchet gears 13 and 25 formed respectively on the outer periphery of the lower portion of the mouth 11 of the container body 1 and the inner periphery of the lower portion of the lower cap 2 are engaged with each other, so that the lower cap 2 can be prevented from being rotated in an opposite direction and loosened. Thus, the coupled state of the lid unit and the container body 1 is firmly maintained. Industrial Applicability
[76] As described above, the present invention provides a cosmetic container with an opening/closing means for opening or closing an outflow passage by causing an opening/closing protrusion of a packing body to escape from or be inserted into an outlet formed at an axial tube of a lift cap only through an operation for separating or coupling an outer cap to raise or lower the lift cap when a user intends to utilize a cosmetic product with a brush. Since the cosmetic container is constructed to be divided into two parts: a lid unit with the integrally formed brush and opening/closing means and a container body, the cosmetic container enables a cosmetic product to be conveniently and rapidly manufactured only through a process of filling the container body with a liquid cosmetic and coupling the lid unit to the container body.
[77] Here, the opening/closing means comprises a lower cap that is threadly engaged with a mouth of the container body and formed with an opening hole at a side of a lower end of the lower cap and has a central hole in which the packing body with the opening/closing protrusion protruding from the center thereof is inserted and coupled; and the lift cap that is supported on and coupled to the lower cap by means of a spring such that the lift cap can be raised and lowered, is inserted into a space of the packing body such that the opening/closing protrusion of the lower cap can escape from or be inserted into a lower end of the axial tube of the lift cap when the lift cap is raised or lowered to open or close the outflow passage, and has the brush formed at an upper portion of the axial tube.
[78] Although the present invention has been described in connection with the preferred embodiments, it is not limited thereto. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and changes can be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention defined by the appended claims and the modifications and changes fall within the scope of the present invention.
