Abstract

The invention concerns a completely wood-free charcoal obtained from a raw material which is the residues of olive oil extraction namely crushed stones (1), said raw material purified of its oily residues is roasted until a black material (2) is obtained, the resulting material is crushed and mixed until a homogeneous and smooth paste (3) is obtained, the resulting paste is compressed and molded until sticks 10 cm long with diameter of 2 cm for charcoal designed for barbecues and 12 cm long with diameter of 8 cm designed for chimneys. (4). The resulting charcoal exhibits the following characteristics: guaranteed wood-free, easy lighting, constant heat value, long-lasting heat value, embers lasting for three hours, no flame emission, no smoke emission, flake-free, suitable for use indoors, limited residual ashes and fragrance (5). Said characteristics result directly from the raw material used and the inventive method for making it. The resulting charcoal is particularly designed for use for barbecues and in heating chimneys.
