Description

CENTRAL SERVER FOR THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT USERS
Field of invention The present invention relates to a method of establishing a way of communication between several users by means of a central server, where a first user leaves a first message on the central server by means of a first terminal, related to the first user. A second user accesses the first message on the central server by means of a second terminal, related to the second user and the second user responds to the first message by leaving a second message on the central server by means of the second terminal, which second message is accessible to the first user by means of the first terminal.
The present invention also relates to a central server for the establishment of a communication between several users. The present invention also relates to different contact services enabled by an inventive method or server. The present invention also relates to a computer program product and a computer readable medium through which an inventive method or server may be realised.
Background art Various kinds of contact services over the Internet are well known to the art.
There are dating-sites or marketing places where a user may post some kind of contact information and where one or several other users may respond to this information in various ways. Any user may contact a central server at the Internet in order to place a first message or to respond to other person's first messages by leaving a second message.
Mobile terminals, such as mobile computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and cell phones are getting more and more sophisticated enabling the user to access the Internet and also these different contact services. This is desirable since a user of a contact service may access the service without having to use a stationary terminal.
A mobile terminal communicates with other devices mainly through two different protocols, the Internet Protocol (IP) for data communication and different voice and data protocols for telephone and fax communication. It is also known to use the IP for telephone communication, voice over IP.
The 3G standard also supports protocols for bi-directional video telephony and streaming sessions between mobile devices.
Summary of the invention
Technical problems
Different terminals, specifically mobile devices, utilises different standards and programs for the implementation of communication according to the IP. The limited processor capacity, memory space and many times the very limited display have generated many different solutions to the problem of providing Internet access through mobile terminals.
It is a technical problem to provide a contact service for communication between different users by means of mobile terminals. It is a technical problem to present a contact service that will function on a mobile terminal regardless of the specific solution provided by the terminal for IP communication.
Solution With the purpose of solving the above mentioned problems and from the standpoint of prior art as described above, the present invention teaches that that the first and second terminal is able to communicate by means of video telephone communication and that the central server is arranged to communicate by means of video telephone communication. It is specifically taught that the communication between the central server and respective terminal is performed through a video telephone call, and that the first and second messages respectively are video messages recorded and stored by the central server.
This means that the communication related to an inventive method is performed according to a standard for video telephony, which is independent of how any IP based service is implemented on respective terminal. Standards for video telephony are well established and it is easy to reach compatibility between different terminals. If the central server communicates by means of wireless video telephone communication then at least one of the terminals may be a mobile terminal where the central server and mobile terminal communicates through wireless communication. It is specifically taught that the mobile terminal communicates by means of wireless video telephone communication in order to provide a user-friendly user interface, similar to that of Internet.
It is also taught that the mobile terminal communicates according to the 3G standard and that the central server comprises a E1 unit adapted to communicate according to the ISDN 30 standard, where the E1 unit is arranged to communicate by means of wireless video telephone communication according to the standard for bi-directional video and streaming sessions between 3G-324M-based mobile handsets/devices. This will enable the central server to communicate with any standard 3G telephones by means of video telephony. It is also proposed that the central server communicates by means of wired video telephone communication, and that any stationary terminal may communicate with the central server through wired video telephone communication.
It is also proposed that the first message is accessible to several second users, and that second messages from several second users are accessible to the first user.
The present invention teaches that, in order to provide an interactive user interface, the first and second messages are recorded by the central server and stored in the form of recorded video messages, that a user interface presented to the first and second users are in the form of pre-prepared video messages, that instructions are given to the users by means of the pre-prepared messages, that multiple-choice instructions may be given to the users by means of these pre- prepared messages, that the users responds to the multiple-choice instructions by pressing the numerical buttons on the first or second terminal, thus generating DTMF/MF-signals an messages, and that a communication session between a user an the central server is a mix of pre-prepared messages, previously recorded first and/or second messages, and DTMF/MF-messages.
In order to provide a possibility to let the first user know when there as a response to the first message it is proposed that the central server sends a notification to the first terminal whenever a second user has responded to the first message.
Advantages The advantages of a method, a central server, various contact services, a computer program product and a computer readable medium according to the present invention are that contact services that normally only are available through Internet will be available to any terminal that is compatible with video telephony, such as mobile 3G telephones.
Brief description of the drawings
A method, a central server, various contact services, a computer program product and a computer readable medium according to the present invention will now be described in more detail with reference to accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic and simplified illustration of a central server communicating with mobile terminals, Figure 2 is a schematic and simplified illustration of a central server communicating with a mobile terminal and a stationary terminal, Figure 3 is a schematic and simplified illustration of a central server communicating with several second terminals, Figure 4 is a schematic and simplified illustration of a the different kinds off messages that are used in an inventive communication, and Figure 5 is a schematic and simplified illustration of a computer unit with inventive computer program code.
Detailed description of preferred embodiments
With reference to figure 1 an inventive method of establishing a way of communication between several users by means of a central server A will now be described.
A first user 1 leaves a first message 11 on the central server A by means of a first terminal 12, related to said first user 1 , where a second user 2 accesses said first message 11 on said central server A by means of a second terminal 21 , related to the said second user 2.
The second user 2 may respond to the first message 11 by leaving a second message 22 on said central server A by means of the second terminal 21. The second message 21 is accessible to the first user 1 by means of the first terminal 12.
The invention specifically teaches that the first and second terminal 21 , 21 is able to communicate by means of video telephone communication, that the central server A is arranged to communicate by means of video telephone communication, and that the communication between the central server A and respective terminal 12, 21 is performed through a video telephone call, hence the first and second messages 11 , 22 respectively are video messages recorded and stored by the central server A.
Figure 1 shows that the central server A communicates by means of wireless video telephone communication A1 and that at least one of the terminals, in the figure terminals 12 and 21 , is a mobile terminal. The central server A and the mobile terminal 12, 21 communicates through wireless communication, and the present invention teaches specifically that the mobile terminal 12, 21 communicates by means of wireless video telephone communication. It is proposed that the mobile terminal 12, 21 communicate according to the
3G standard and that the central server A comprises a E1 unit A2 adapted to communicate according to the ISDN 30 standard, where the E1 unit A2 is arranged to communicate by means of wireless video telephone communication A1 according to the standard for bi-directional video and streaming sessions between 3G-324M-based mobile handsets/devices. One suitable E1 unit for European purposes is the Diva Server V-PRI/E1 from Eicon ® Networks Corporation. It should however be understood that other E1 units may also be used or even required depending on local standards of communication.
Figure 2 shows an embodiment where the central server A communicates by means of wired video telephone communication A3, and that at least one of the terminals, in the figure the second terminal 21', is a stationary terminal, and that the central server A and the stationary terminal 21' communicates through wired communication A3, and it is specifically proposed that the stationary terminal 21' communicates by means of wired video telephone communication. Figure 3 shows that the first message 11 is accessible to several second users, in the figure exemplified by the three second users 2, 2', 2", and that second messages 22, 22', 22" from several second users 2, 2', 2" are accessible to the first user 1. It should be understood that a second user is not required to leave a second message after accessing a first message and that several first users may leave first messages available to the second users.
Figure 4 shows that first and second messages 11 , 11', 22, 22', 22", 22'" are recorded by the central server A and stored in the form of recorded video messages. A user interface 13, 23 presented to the first and second users 1 , 2 are in the form of pre-prepared video messages A13, A23, and instructions are given to the users 1 , 2 by means of the pre-prepared messages A13, A23.
These pre-prepared messages A13, A23 may comprise multiple-choice instructions that are given to the users 1, 2. The users 1 , 2 may respond to the multiple-choice instructions A13, A23 by pressing the numerical buttons 14, 24 on the first or second terminal 12, 21 , thus generating DTMF/MF-signals and messages 15.
A communication session between a user 1 , 2 and said central server is a mix of pre-prepared messages A13, A23, previously recorded first and/or second messages 11 , 22, and DTMF/MF-messages 15.
The present invention also teaches that the central server A may send a notification to the first terminal 12 whenever a second user 2 has responded to the first message 11.
With renewed reference to figure 1 an inventive central server A for the establishment of a communication between several users will now be described.
The central server A is adapted to receive and store a first message 11 from a first terminalc12, belonging to a first user 1 , and the central server A is adapted to provide a second terminal 21 , belonging to a second user 2, accesses to the first message 11. The central server is also adapted to receive and store a second message
22 from the second terminal 21 , the second message 22 being a response to the first message 11 from the second user 2, and to provide the first terminal 12, and thereby the first user 1 , access to the second message 22. The present invention specifically teaches that the first and second terminal 12, 21 is adapted to communicate by means of video telephone communication, that the central server A is adapted to communicate by means of video telephone communication, and that the central server A is adapted to communicate with the terminal 12, 21 belonging to respective user 1, 2 through a video telephone call, wher the first and second messages 11 , 22 respectively are video messages recorded and stored by the central server A.
According to one preferred embodiment the central server is adapted to communicate by means of wireless video telephone communication A1 , meaning that if at least one of the terminals, in figure 1 both the first and the second terminal 12, 21 , is a mobile terminal, then the central server A is adapted to communicate with the mobile terminal 12, 21 through wireless communication A1 , and preferably wireless video telephone communication.
The present invention teaches that the central server A is adapted to communicate with mobile terminals 12, 21 that communicate according to the 3G standard.
In order to enable the central server A to communicate through wireless video telephone communication, the present invention teaches that the central server A comprises a E1 unit A2 adapted to communicate according to the ISDN 30 standard, and that the E1 unit A2 is adapted to communicate by means of wireless video telephone communication according to the standard for bidirectional video and streaming sessions between 3G-324M-based mobile handsets/devices.
Figure 2 shows that the central server A may also be adapted to communicate by means of wired video telephone communication A3, so that if at least one of the terminals, terminal 21' in figure 2, is a stationary terminal, then the central server A is adapted to communicate through wired communication A3 with the stationary terminal 21'.
Figure 3 shows that the central server A is adapted to make the first message 11 accessible to several second users 2, 2', 2", and that the central server A is adapted to make second messages 22, 22', 22" from several second users 2, 2', 2" accessible to the first user 1. Figure 4 shows that the central server A is adapted to record and store the first and second messages 11 , 22, 22', 22", 11', 22'" in the form of recorded video messages.
The central server A is also adapted to present a user interface 13, 23 to the first and second users 1 , 2 in the form of pre-prepared video messages A13, A23 and the central server is adapted to give instructions to the users 1 , 2 by means of the pre-prepared messages A13, A23. The pre-prepared messages A13, A23 may comprise multiple-choice instructions to the users 1 , 2, and the central server A is adapted to receive responses from the users to the multiple-choice instructions in the form of DTMF/MF-signals and messages 15 generated by the user by pressing the numerical buttons 14, 24 on the first or second terminal 12, 21.
The central server A is adapted to perform a communication session with a user in the form of a mix of pre-prepared messages A13, A23, previously recorded first and/or second messages 11 , 22, and DTMF-messages 15.
The present invention also teaches that the central server A is adapted to send a notification to the first terminal 12 whenever a second user 2 has responded to the first message 11.
The present invention also relates to a dating site or a market place for different users, where a computer unit acting as a central server according to the inventive method provides the dating site or market place.
