Description

明細書 ヘッドスライダ分離方法及びへッドスライダ分離装置 技術分野
本発明は、 ヘッドスライダが実装されたフレキシャから、 ヘッドスライダを 分離するへッドスライダ分離方法及びへッドスライダ分離装置に関する。 背景技術
従来より、 ハードディスクドライブで使用される磁気ヘッドアセンブリは、 デ一夕の読み取り用、 書き込み用素子を含み一体成形されたへッドスライダを フレキシャに装着し、 当該フレキシャの一端部を口一ドビームの先端に接合し て構成されるものである。 ここで、 磁気ヘッドアセンブリの製造コストにおい てフレキシャの占めるコス卜の割合が高いことが知られている。 製造コストを 抑えるために、 磁気へッドアセンブリの組立後にへッドスライダに不具合が発 見された場合、 ヘッドスライダのみをフレキシャから分離し、 フレキシャを再 利用することが行われている。 ヘッドスライダ分離装置の従来例について以下 に図面を参照しつつ説明する。
図 6 A、 6 Bは従来のへッドスライダ分離方法の工程を示す側面図である。 図 6 Aは、 ヘッドスライダ 5 0 1が半田材 5 1 5及び金ポール 5 0 3を介して フレキシャ 5 0 7に固定された状態を示す。 図 6 Bはへッドスライダ 5 0 1が フレキシャ 5 0 7から剥離された状態を示す。
直方体状のへッドスライダ 5 0 1が薄板状のフレキシャ 5 0 7上に配置さ れている。へッドスライダ 5 0 1の端面には、スライダ電極 5 0 5が固着され、 フレキシャ 5 0 7の上面にはフレキシャ電極 5 0 9が固着されている。 フレキ シャ電極 5 0 9とスライダ電極 5 0 5とは、 2種類の接合部材により接合され る。 一方の接合部材である半田材 5 1 5は、 フレキシャ電極 5 0 9上に付着さ れる。 他方の接合部材である金ボール 5 0 3は、 半田材 5 1 5を介しフレキシ ャ電極 5 0 9に、 そしてスライダ電極 5 0 5に、 圧接された状態で超音波接合 されている (図 6 A参照)。
上記した構成において、 ヘッドスライダ 5 0 1をフレキシャ 5 0 7から分離 するためには、 半田材 5 1 5を覆う金ボール 5 1 3にビーム状加熱光線 5 1 7 を照射して半田材 5 1 5を溶融し、 金ポール 5 1 3と半田材 5 1 5とを分離し ヘッドスライダ 5 0 1をフレキシャ 5 0 7から分離する (図 6 B参照) (例え ば、特開 2 0 0 2— 3 6 7 1 3 2号公報(段落番号〔0 0 1 9〕〜〔 0 0 3 9〕、 図 1 ) 参照。)。
上述した特開 2 0 0 2 - 3 6 7 1 3 2号公報は、 へッドスライダ 5 0 1をフ レキシャ 5 0 7から分離するために、 金ポール 5 0 3にビーム状加熱光線 5 1 7を照射して、 半田材 5 1 5を溶融してへッドスライダ 5 0 1の分離を行うも のである。
ビーム状加熱光線 5 1 7が半田材 5 1 5に照射され、 これを加熱した場合で あっても、 半田材 5 1 5に比べ熱伝導率の高い金ポール 5 0 3側に熱が逃げる。 結果として、 半田材 5 1 5に付与された熱により、 半田材 5 1 5の上面側部 5 1 5 a (金ポール 5 0 3と接触する側) から温度が上昇し溶融していく。 半田 材 5 1 5の上面側部 5 1 5 aが溶融すると、 金ポール 5 0 3を半田材 5 1 5か ら分離できるが、 半田材 5 1 5の下面側部 5 1 5 b (フレキシャ電極 5 0 9と 接触する側) の溶融が不十分であるため分離時に半田材 5 1 5がフレキシャ電 極 5 0 9上に残ってしまう恐れがある。 この場合、 フレキシャ 5 0 7を再利用 するためには、 さらに半田材 5 1 5をフレキシャ電極 5 0 9上から取り除く機 構が必要となり、 へッドスライダ分離方法やへッドスライダ分離装置の構成が 複雑となる。
また、 最近では、 製造コストの抑制及びヘッドスライダの小型化のため、 金 ポールを用いずに半田ポールのみを用いた磁気へッドアセンブリが使用され ている。 このような構成の場合、 半田ポールを加熱するのみではフレキシャ電 極上に半田材が残ってしまう場合がある。 また、 カツ夕等の切断手段を用いて 半田材を切断することによりへッドスライダの分離を行う場合には、 フレキシ ャ電極上の半田材が残らないように切断することは困難である。 発明の開示
そこで本発明は、 半田付けにより接合されたヘッドスライダをフレキシャか ら分離する際、 フレキシャ側に半田材等の残渣が生じることを防止できる簡易 な構成のへッドスライダ分離方法及びへッドスライダ分離装置を提供するこ とを目的とする。
ところで、 上記した特開 2 0 0 2 - 3 6 7 1 3 2号公報を考慮すると、 半田 材の、 フレキシャ電極と接触している部分を選択的に或いは効率的に溶融すれ ば、 フレキシャ電極の上面に半田材を残さずにヘッドスライダを分離できる。 しかし、一部の例外を除き、半田材はフレキシャ電極の全体を覆っているため、 フレキシャ電極を直接加熱することは困難である。 また、 フレキシャ電極を直 接加熱することが可能であったとしても、 加熱部分の周囲のフレキシャ (樹脂 製) に熱的損傷を与える可能性がある。 そこで、 本発明は、 以下の解決手段を 採用した。
上記目的を達成するための本発明のヘッドスライダ分離方法は、 ヘッドスラ イダが実装されているフレキシャを固定手段により固定する工程と、 前記へッ ドスライタ'を保持し移動できるスライダ保持手段を用いて前記へッドスライ ダを保持する工程と、 フレキシャ電極を覆う半田材の領域内であって、 スライ ダ電極から最も遠い前記半田材部分を加熱溶融する工程と、 前記溶融された前 記半田材部分を介して前記フレキシャ電極を加熱することで前記フレキシャ 電極に密着する領域の前記半田材を溶融する工程と、 前記フレキシャ電極に密 着する領域の前記半田材を溶融させた後、 前記スライダ保持手段により前記ス ライダを保持し移動し、 前記スライダ電極と前記フレキシャ電極との半田材に よる接続状態を解消し、 前記へッドスライダを前記フレキシャから分離するェ 程と、 を備える。
また、 上記目的を達成するための本発明のヘッドスライダ分離装置は、 へッ ドスライダが実装されているフレキシャを固定するための固定手段と、 半田材 の所定の加熱位置を加熱するための加熱手段と、 前記へッドスライダを保持し 移動させるためのスライダ保持手段と、 を備え、 前記所定の加熱位置は、 フレ キシャ電極を覆う前記半田材の領域内であって、 スライダ電極から最も遠い前 記半田材部分であり、 前記固定手段によりフレキシャを固定した状態で前記加 熱手段により前記所定の加熱位置を加熱し、 溶融した半田材部分を介して前記 フレキシャ電極を加熱することで前記フレキシャ電極に密着する領域の前記 半田材を溶融させ、 スライダ保持手段によりへッドスライダを保持し移動する ことで、 前記へッドスライダを前記フレキシャから分離する。
上記スライダへッド分離方法及びスライダへッド分離装置によれば、 フレキ シャ電極の上方であって、 フレキシャ電極上に存在する半田材の厚さが最も薄 くなる領域、 すなわちスライダ電極から最も遠い半田材部分を加熱する。 この 加熱される半田材部分の半田の量は僅かであることから容易に溶融し、 かつ、 半田材の下方に存在するフレキシャ電極を連続的かつ効果的に加熱する。 他方、 加熱される半田材部分から最も離れた位置にあるスライダ電極を覆う半田材 部分に対しては、 加熱される半田材部分から距離が離れる分だけ半田材の溶融 温度に達するまでの時間を要する。 フレキシャ電極等の電極材は通常、 熱伝導 率が比較的高いものが用いられており、 結果として加熱される半田材部分から 離れるに従って、 半田材よりもフレキシャ電極の温度が高くなる。
また、 比較的融点の低い半田材部分を介してフレキシャ電極を加熱すること により、 フレキシャ電極が加熱手段によって直接加熱されない。 従って加えら れる熱量は、 実質半田材を溶融するために必要な熱量となる。 結果として、 フ レキシャ電極に密着するフレキシャ部分に付与される熱を半田材の略溶融温 度程度までに制限することができ、 フレキシャの熱的損傷を防止することがで さる。
さらに、 フレキシャ電極と接触する半田材のフレキシャ電極表面側部分 (す なわち半田材の下側面部分) と、 半田材の外表面側の部分を比較すると、 外表 面側の部分は外気に曝されているため、 時間の経過とともに半田材の下側面の 部分の蓄熱量が、 外表面側の部分より大きくなる。 従って、 フレキシャ電極の 表面に密着している半田材部分は溶融する一方、 スライダ電極近傍の半田材は 溶融しないので、 スライダを移動させると半田材がスライダ電極に固着した状 態でフレキシャから分離される。
本発明のへッドスライダ分離方法及びへッドスライダ分離方法によれば、 半 田付けにより接合されたへッドスライダをフレキシャから分離する際、 フレキ シャ電極に接する半田材部分を溶融することができるので、 フレキシャ電極の 上面に半田材等の残渣が生じることを防止できる。 図面の簡単な説明

, 以下、 本発明によるへッドスライダ分離方法及びへッドスライダ分離装置の 実施の形態について図面を参照しつつ説明する。
まず、 実施の形態において使用される、 ヘッドスライダが分離されるフレキ シャの構成について説明する。 図 1 Aはフレキシャに実装されたへッドスライ ダの上面図であり、 図 1 Bはその側面図である。 図 1 Cは、 ヘッドスライダを 分離した状態を示す側面図である。
薄板状のフレキシャ 7上が図中左右方向に延在する。 フレキシャ 7上には、 略直方体状のヘッドスライダ 1が実装されている。 スライダ 1は、 その長手方 向に対向する端面の一方、 すなわちヘッド側端面 1 aに、 単一の薄板状のスラ イダ電極 5を備える。
フレキシャ 7上のヘッド側端面 1 a側の表面には、 スライダ電極 5に対応し て、 単一の薄板状のフレキシャ電極 1 1が配置されている。 さらに、 図 1 Bに ' 示すように、 スライダ電極 5の表面とフレキシャ電極 1 1の表面とが略直角を 形成している。 この略直角を形成するスライダ電極 5の表面とフレキシャ電極 1 1の表面に半田材 3が固着され、 スライダ電極 5とフレキシャ電極 1 1とが 互いに電気的に接合される。
本実施形態の場合、 半田材 3は、 フレキシャ電極 1 1の上面 1 1 aをほぼ覆 うように固着し、 半田材 3の厚さは、 スライダ電極 5側からフレキシャ電極 1 1の先端部 1 1 bに向かい薄くなつている。 すなわち、 スライダ電極 5から最 も離れた箇所である、 フレキシャ電極 1 1の先端部 1 1 bにおいて半田材 3の 厚さが最も薄くなつている。
次に、 本発明のへッドスライダ分離方法の実施形態において使用されるへッ ドスライダ分離装置について説明する。 図 2は、 ヘッドスライダが実装された フレキシャからへッドスライダを分離するためのへッドスライダ分離装置を 模式的に示す上面図である。 なお、 明瞭化のためフレキシャに実装されている ヘッドスライダは割愛した。 但し、 図 1 A〜l Cに示すヘッドスライダと同じ 構成のものが後述するフレキシャ 7に実装されている。
へッドスライダ分離装置 1 0は、 へッドスライダが実装されているフレキシ ャ 7を固定するための固定手段であるフレキシャ固定ュニット 4 3と、 半田材 の所定の加熱位置を加熱するための加熱手段、 すなわちレーザュニット 1 6と、 ヘッドスライダ (図 1 A〜1 Cの 1 ) を保持し移動させるためのスライダ保持 手段、 すなわちスライダ吸着ユニット 1 4とを備える。
フレキシャ固定ユニット 4 3は、 平板状の基台 4 4と、 その基台 4 4の表面 上にフレキシャ 7を固定するための、従来から知られているクランプ(不図示) が設けられている。
フレキシャ固定ュニット 4 3に対して、 X方向 4 7に対向配置されているの はレーザュニット 1 6である。 レーザュニット 1 6は、 半田材に対するレ一ザ ビーム 2 7を生成するレーザ発振部 1 7と、 レーザ発振部 1 7が装着されてい るレーザュニット本体 2 9とを備える。
図中においてレーザュニット 1 6に対して Y方向 4 5に対向配置されてい るのは、 へッドスライダを保持し移動させるためのスライダ吸着ュニット 1 4 である。 スライダ吸着ユニット 1 4は、 ヘッドスライダ (図 1 A〜1 Cの 1 ) に負圧を付与する吸着ノズル 2 1と、 吸着ノズル 2 1を支持するノズル支持体 1 9と、 ノズル支持体 1 9が装着されている吸着ュニット本体 1 5とを備える。 吸着ノズル 2 1の先端部であって、 ヘッドスライダに当接する部分には不図示 の吸引孔が設けられている。 吸引孔は、 吸引源 (不図示) と連通しており、 吸 引力が吸引孔を介してヘッドスライダに付与されると、 吸着ノズル 2 1にへッ ドスライダが吸着保持される。 さらに、 吸着ノズル 2 1は、 不図示の昇降手段を介してノズル支持体 1 9に 連結されていて、 吸着ノズル 2 1が図 2の紙面の表裏方向に移動可能に構成さ れている。
へッドスライダ分離方法の実施形態における分離工程を説明する。 図 2に示 されるように、 まず、 ヘッドスライダ 1が実装されているスレキシャ 7をフレ キシャ固定ュニット 4 3の基台 4 4に不図示のクランプを用いて固定する。 そ して、 吸着ノズル 2 1をフレキシャ 7に実装されているへッドスライダに当接 するまで下降し、 吸引力を付与することによりへッドスライダを吸着保持する。 さらに、 図 1 A〜l Cにおけるフレキシャ電極 1 1を覆う半田材 3の領域内 であって、 スライダ電極 5から最も遠い半田材部分 (加熱位置 2 3 ) にレーザ ビーム 2 7を照射することで加熱溶融する (加熱溶融工程)。 そして、 レーザ ビーム 2 7により溶融された半田材部分を介してフレキシャ電極 1 1を加熱 することでフレキシャ電極 1 1に密着する領域の半田材 (図 1 Bの 3 b参照) が溶融される (フレキシャ領域加熱工程)。
フレキシャ電極 1 1に密着する領域の半田材 (図 1 Bの 3 b参照) を溶融さ せた後、 吸着ノズル 2 1を上昇させることによりヘッドスライダ 1を保持し移 動する。 図 1 Cに示すように、 この移動に伴い、 スライダ電極 5とフレキシャ 電極 1 1との半田材による接続状態を解消し、 ヘッドスライダ 1をフレキシャ 7から分離する。
上記加熱位置 2 3は、 フレキシャ 7からヘッドスライダ 1を分離する際に、 半田材 3がフレキシャ電極 1 1に残ることを防止することを目的として設定 されている。 例えば、 フレキシャ電極 1 1の上側面 1 1 aに接している半田材 の下側面 3 bを完全に溶融すれば、 フレキシャ電極 1 1の上側面 1 1 aと半田 材の下側面 3 bの境界に沿って分離できるからである。
半田材の溶融のメカニズムについて、 半田材の加熱位置 2 3にレーザビーム 2 7 (図 2参照) を照射した場合を例に説明する。 フレキシャ電極 1 1の上方 であって、 フレキシャ電極 1 1上に存在する半田材の厚さが最も薄くなる領域、 すなわちスライダ電極から最も遠い半田材部分 (加熱位置 2 3 ) を加熱する。 この加熱位置 2 3の半田材は僅かであることから容易に溶融し、 かつ、 その下 層に存在するフレキシャ電極 1 1を連続的かつ効果的に加熱する。 他方、 加熱 位置 2 3の半田材部分から最も離れた位置にあるスライダ電極 5を覆う半田 材部分に対しては、 加熱される半田材部分 (加熱位置 2 3 ) から距離が離れる 分だけ半田材の溶融温度に達するまでの時間を要する。 フレキシャ電極等の電 極材は通常、 熱伝導率が比較的高いものが用いられており、 結果として加熱位 置 2 3の半田材部分から離れるに従って、 半田材 3よりもフレキシャ電極 1 1 の温度が高くなる。
また、 比較的融点の低い半田材部分を介してフレキシャ電極を加熱すること により、 フレキシャ電極が加熱手段によって直接加熱されないので、 フレキシ ャ電極 1 1に密着するフレキシャ 7の熱的損傷も防止することができる。
さらに、 フレキシャ電極 1 1と接触する半田材のフレキシャ電極表面側部分 (すなわち半田材の下側面部分 3 b ) と、 半田材の外表面側の部分 3 aを比較 すると、 外表面側の部分 3 aは外気に曝されているため、 時間の経過とともに 半田材の下側面の部分 3 bの蓄熱量が、 外表面側の部分 3 aより大きくなる。 従って、 フレキシャ電極の表面に密着している半田材部分 3 bが溶融する一方、 スライダ電極 5近傍の半田材は溶融しないので、 へッドスライダを移動させる と半田材がスライダ電極 5に固着した状態でフレキシャ Ίから分離される。 なお、 上記実施形態では、 模式的にヘッド側端面に 1つのスライダ電極を備 えるヘッドスライダを、 フレキシャから分離する方法について説明した。 しか し、スライダ電極及びフレキシャ電極の個数が変わっても、上記加熱溶融工程、 フレキシャ領域加熱工程の回数を適宜変更すれば、 へッドスライダをフレキシ ャから分離できることは言うまでもない。
また、 上記実施形態では、 図 1 Aにおけるヘッド側端面 1 aにスライダ電極 を備え、 スライダ電極とフレキシャ電極が接続された状態で実装されたへッド スライダを、 フレキシャから分離する方法について説明したが、 この実施形態 に本発明が限定されるものではない。 例えば、 ヘッド側端面 1 aに対向するテ ィル側端面のみ、 若しくはティル側端面及びへッド側端面の両方にスライダ電 極を備えるヘッドスライダである場合には、 レーザ装置の配置を変えたり、 レ 一ザ装置を複数にする構成を適宜採用することでフレキシャからへッドスラ イダを分離できることは言うまでもない。
(実施例)
以下に、 本発明のへッドスライダ分離方法に係る実施例について図面を参照 して説明する。図 3は、へッドスライダを実装したフレキシャの上面図である。 図 4 A、 4 Bは、 図 3の矢印 IV方向から見た側面図であり、 ヘッドスライダを フレキシャから分離する工程を示す。
まず、 実施例におけるへッドスライダが実装されたフレキシャについて説明 する。 図 3に示されるように、 略矩形状の薄板状フレキシャ 1 0 7上に略直方 体のヘッドスライダ 1 0 1が載置されている。 ヘッドスライダ 1 0 1は、 その 長手方向 (図 3の左右方向) に対向する端面すなわち、 へッド側端面 1 0 1 a 及びティル側端面 1 0 1 bを備える。 へッド側端面 1 0 1 aには、 4つの薄板 状の第 1のスライダ電極 1 0 5 a〜dが固着され、 ティル側端面 1 0 1 bには、 2つの薄板状の第 2のスライダ電極 1 0 9 a、 1 0 9 bが固着されている。 フレキシャ 1 0 7上のへッド側端面 1 0 1 a側の表面には、 第 1のスライダ 電極 1 0 5 a〜 l 0 5 dに対応して、 4つの薄板状の第 1のフレキシャ電極 1 1 1 a〜dが配置されている (図 4 A参照)。 また、 フレキシャ 1 0 7上のテ ィル側端面 1 0 1 b側の表面には、 2つの薄板状の第 2のスライダ電極 1 0 9 a、 1 0 9 bに対応して第 2のフレキシャ電極 1 1 3 a、 1 1 3 b (図 4 A参 照) が配置されている。
対応するスライダ電極とフレキシャ電極とは、 半田材により電気的に接合さ れている。 図 4 Aを参照すると、 例えば、 第 1のスライダ電極 1 0 5 dと第 1 のフレキシャ電極 1 1 1 dとが半田材 1 0 3 dにより接合されていることが 理解できる。 第 1のスライダ電極 1 0 5 dの表面と第 1のフレキシャ電極 1 1 1 dの表面とが略直角を形成している。 この略直角を形成する第 1のスライダ 電極 1 0 5 dの表面と第 1のフレキシャ電極 1 1 1 dの表面各々に半田材 1 0 3 dが固着され、 第 1のスライダ電極 1 0 5 dと第 1のフレキシャ電極 1 1 1 dとが互いに連結される。
半田材 1 0 3 dの厚さは、 第 1のスライダ電極 1 0 5 dの表面から第 1のフ レキシャ電極 1 1 1 dの先端部 1 1 1 d 2に向かい薄くなつている。 すなわち、 第 1のスライダ電極 1 0 5 dから最も離れた箇所である、 第 1のフレキシャ電 極 1 1 1 dの先端部 1 1 1 d 2において半田材 1 0 3 dの厚さが最も薄くな つている。
他の第 1のスライタ電極 1 0 5 &〜1 0 5じと第1のフレキシャ電極 1 1 1 a〜l 1 1 c、 そして両部材を接合する半田材 1 0 3 a〜l 0 3 cも上記の 構成と同様に、 構成されている。
第 2のスライダ電極 1 0 9 a、 1 0 9 bと第 2のフレキシャ電極 1 1 3 a、 1 1 3 bは、 第 1のスライダ電極及び第 1のフレキシャ電極と同様に構成され、 それぞれ半田材 1 1 5 a、 1 1 5 bにより電気的に接合されている。 また、 半 田材 1 1 5 a、 1 1 5 bの厚さは、 第 2のスライダ電極 1 0 9 a、 1 0 9 bの 表面から第 2のフレキシャ電極 1 1 3 a、 1 1 3 bの先端部(1 1 3 b 2参照) に向かい薄くなつている。
次に、 実施例において使用するへッドスライダ分離装置について説明する。 図 5は、 ヘッドスライダ分離装置の上面図である。
へッドスライダ分離装置 3 0 1は、 略平滑な上面を備える略矩形状の作業テ 一ブル 3 0 3と、 作業テーブル 3 0 3の上面に載置されているスライダ保持手 段、 すなわちスライダ吸着ュニッ卜 3 1 1と、 レーザビームを照射し半田材を 加熱するための加熱手段、 すなわち第 1のレーザユニット 3 2 1 ¾び第 2のレ —ザュニット 3 3 1と、 へッドスライダが実装されたフレキシャを固定するた めの固定手段、 すなわちフレキシャ固定ユニット 3 4 2と、 半田材の加熱位置 (レーザ照射位置) を検出するための画像認識カメラ 3 5 1と、 を備える。 画像認識カメラ 3 5 1は、 上向き (図 5の紙面の表裏方向に対して表方向) になるように作業テーブル 3 0 3の略中央に固定され、 後述する第 1のレーザ ユニット、 第 2のレーザユニット、 フレキシャ等の位置決めをするために各部 材の位置情報を得るために使用される。
ヘッドスライダが装着されているフレキシャを保持するためのフレキシャ 固定ユニット 3 4 2は、 略矩形状の可動台 3 4 3と、 可動台 3 4 3の表面上に 装着され、 フレキシャ 1 0 7 A、 1 0 7 Bが載置される基台 3 4 4と、 基台 3 4 4に対してフレキシャ 1 0 7 A、 1 0 7 Bを固定するための従来から知られ るクランプ (不図示) と、 を備える。
また、 フレキシャ固定ユニット 3 4 2の可動台 3 4 3は、 Y方向移動ュニッ ト 3 4 5に装着されている。 Y方向移動ユニット 3 4 5は、 Y方向駆動軸 3 4 6と、 Y方向駆動軸 3 4 6に嵌挿される Y方向スライダ 3 4 7と、 を備える。 Y方向駆動軸 3 4 6を回転させると Y方向スライダ 3 4 7が Y方向に移動す る構成である。 よって、 Y方向駆動軸 3 4 6を回転させることにより、 Y方向 スライダ 3 4 7に固定された可動台 3 4 3を移動させてフレキシャ 1 0 7 A、 1 0 7 B等の Y方向に関する位置決めがなされる。
図中においてフレキシャ固定ュニット 3 4 2の右側には、 第 1のレーザュニ ット 3 2 1が配置されている。 第 1のレーザュニット 3 2 1は、 第 1のレーザ 発振部 3 2 3と、 第 1のレーザ発振部 3 2 3が装着された第 1の可動テーブル 3 2 7と、 を備える。 また、 第 1のレーザ発振部 3 2 3は、 略 L字状の第 1の 発振部支持体 3 2 5を介して第 1の可動テーブル 3 2 7に装着されている。 また、 第 1のレーザユニット 3 2 1の第 1の可動テーブル 3 2 7は、 X方向 移動ユニット 3 2 9に装着されている。 X方向移動ユニット 3 2 9は、 X方向 駆動軸 3 3 0と、 X方向駆動軸 3 3 0に嵌挿される X方向スライダ 3 3 1と、 を備える。 X方向駆動軸 3 3 0を回転させると X方向スライダ 3 3 1が X方向 に移動する構成である。よって、 X方向駆動軸 3 3 0を回転させることにより、 X方向スライダ 3 3 1に固定された第 1の可動テーブル 3 2 7を移動させて 第 1のレーザ発振部 3 2 3の X方向に関する位置決めがなされる。
図中において第 1のレーザュニット 3 2 1の Y方向上方に配置されている 吸着ュニット 3 1 1は、 へッドスライダを吸着保持するための吸着ノズル 3 1 3と、 吸着ノズル 3 1 3が装着されるノズル可動テーブル 3 1 5と、 吸着ノズ ル 3 1 3を支持し、 ノズル可動テ一ブル 3 1 5に装着される略 L字形状のノズ ル支持体 3 1 7と、 を備える。
吸着ノズル 3 1 3は、 従来から知られる不図示の昇降機構により上下方向 (図 5の紙面の表裏方向) への移動が可能である。 また、 吸着ノズル 3 1 3の 先端部は下方へ (図 5の紙面の表裏方向の裏側へ) 向き、 吸着ノズル 3 1 3の 先端部に吸引孔 (不図示) が設けられている。 また、 吸引孔は不図示の気体ポ ンプ等の吸引源と連通し、 吸引孔からへッドスライダに負圧を付与することで 吸着ノズル 3 1 3にヘッドスライダを吸着保持する。
また、 吸着ュニット 3 1 1のノズル可動テーブル 3 1 5は、 X方向移動ュニ ット 3 1 2に連結されている。 X方向移動ユニット 3 1 2は、 X方向駆動軸 3 1 4と、 X方向駆動軸 3 1 4に嵌挿される X方向スライダ 3 1 6と、を備える。
X方向駆動軸 3 1 4を回転させると X方向スライダ 3 1 6が X方向に移動す る構成である。 よって、 X方向駆動軸 3 1 4を回転させることにより、 X方向 スライダ 3 1 6に固定されたノズル可動テーブル 3 1 5を移動させて吸着ノ ズル 3 1 3の X方向に関する位置決めがなされる。
, 第 2のレーザユニット 3 3 1は、 Y方向移動ユニット 3 4 5の Y方向スライ ダ 3 4 7を挟み、 吸着ユニット 3 1 1に対面するように配置されている。 第 1 のレーザュニット 3 2 1と同様の構成であり、 第 2のレーザ発振部 3 3 3と、 第 2のレーザ発振部 3 3 3が装着された第 2の可動テーブル 3 3 7と、 を備え る。 さらに、 第 2のレーザ発振部 3 3 3は、 略 L字状の第 2の発振部支持体 3 3 5を介して第 2の可動テーブル 3 3 7に固定されている。
第 2のレーザユニット 3 3 1の第 2の可動テーブル 3 3 7は、 X方向移動ュ ニット 3 3 9に装着されている。 X方向移動ュニット 3 3 9は、 X方向駆動軸 3 4 0と、 X方向駆動軸 3 4 0に嵌挿される X方向スライダ 3 4 1と、 を備え る。 X方向駆動軸 3 4 0を回転させると X方向スライダ 3 4 1が X方向に移動 する構成である。 よって、 X方向駆動軸 3 4 0を回転させることにより、 X方 向スライダ 3 4 1に固定された第 2の可動テーブル 3 3 7を移動させて第 2 のレーザ発振部 3 3 3の X方向に関する位置決めがなされる。
上記構成のへッドスライダ分離装置 3 0 1は、 以下のような工程でへッドス ライダの分離作業を行う。 不具合のあるへッドスライダが装着された複数のフ レキシャ 1 0 7 A、 1 0 7 Bを、 フレキシャ固定ユニット 3 4 2の可動台 3 4 3に設けられた基台 3 4 4にクランプ (不図示) で固定する。 複数のフレキシ ャ 1 0 7 A、 1 0 7 Bは、 Y方向にほぼ等間隔に配置される。
次に、 へッドスライダが分離される最初のフレキシャ 1 0 7 Aが画像認識力 メラ 3 5 1の上方に位置するように可動台 3 4 3を移動する。 画像認識カメラ 3 5 1を作動させてフレキシャ 1 0 7 Aの位置情報を得る。 位置決めの基準と して、 好ましくはフレキシャ 1 0 7の荷重突起部 (ディンプル) (不図示) を 用いる。 そのフレキシャ 1 0 7 Aの位置情報に基づき、 X方向移動ユニット 3 1 9を用いて吸引ノズル 3 1 3の位置決めを行う。
そして、 吸着ノズル 3 1 3をへッドスライダ (図 4 A、 4 Bの 1 0 1 ) の上 面 (図 4 Aの 1 0 1 c参照) に当接させるように下降させ、 負圧を付与するこ とによりヘッドスライダを吸着保持する。
さらに、 半田材 1 0 3 a〜 l 0 3 dそれぞれの加熱位置 1 2 3 a ~ l 2 3 d (図 3参照) すべてに対して、 ほぼ同時に第 1のレーザ発振部 323から発せ られるレーザビーム 328を照射できるように、 X方向移動ュニツト 329を 用いて X方向に第 1の可動テーブル 327を移動し、 第 1のレーザ発振部 32 3の位置決めを行う。 また、 半田材 1 15 aおよび 1 15 bの加熱位置 125 aおよび 125 b両方に対して、 ほぼ同時に第 2のレーザ発振部 333から発 せられるレーザビーム 334を照射できるように X方向移動ュニット 339 を用いて X方向に第 2の可動テーブル 337を移動し、 第 2のレーザ発振部 3 33の位置決めを行う。
このように位置決めがなされた後、 第 1のレーザ発振部 323、 第 2のレー ザ発振部 333を稼動させ、 フレキシャ電極を覆っている半田材 (図 4A, 4 Bの 103 d、 1 15 d参考) の加熱位置 123 a〜 123 d、 125 a、 1 25 b (図 3参照) 全てをほぼ同時に照射する。
フレキシャ電極に接触している半田材の下側面(図 4A, 4Bの 103 d 1、 1 15 b l参考) を溶融させたのち、 吸着ノズル 313を上昇させて、 ヘッド スライダ 101をフレキシャ 107から分離する。 吸着ノズル 313に吸着さ れているへッドスライダは、 不図示の廃棄箱に搬送される。
次に、 可動台 343を Y方向上方 (図 5中) に移動し、 フレキシャ 107B を所定位置に移動させ、 上記の分離工程を繰り返すことによりフレキシャから へッドスライダを分離する。
上記実施形態及び実施例において、 加熱手段としてレーザビームを照射する レーザ装置を用いたが、 本発明がレーザ装置に限定されることなく、 ホットェ ァガン等の半田材に熱を付与することができる手段であればよい。
また、 へッドスライダを保持し移動するスライダ保持手段として負圧を付与 し吸引するスライダ吸着ュニットを使用したが、 へッドスライダを保持できれ ば、 チャック等を使用できることは言うまでもない。
さらに、 ヘッドスライダをフレキシャから分離する際に、 ヘッドスライダを フレキシャに対して上方に移動することで分離したが、 へッドスライダとフレ キシャとが互いに対して離れるように移動させさえすればよい。 よって、 へッ ドスライダを固定してフレキシャを移動させる構成でも良い。
この発明は、 その本質的特性から逸脱することなく数多くの形式のものとし て具体化することができる。 よって、 上述した実施形態及び実施例は専ら説明 上のものであり、 本発明を制限するものではないことは言う.までもない。 この出願は 2 0 0 5年 2月 8日に出願された日本国特許出願番号 2 0 0 5 - 0 3 1 1 7 6からの優先権を主張するものであり、 その内容を引用してこの 出願の一部とするものである。

Claims

請求の範囲
1 . へッドスライダのスライダ電極とフレキシャのフレキシャ電 極とが半田材を用いて電気的に接続された状態で前記フレキシャに実装され ている前記ヘッドスライダを、 前記フレキシャから分離するへッドスライダ分 離方法であって、
前記へッドスライダが実装されている前記フレキシャを固定手段によ り固定する工程と、
前記へッドスライダを保持し移動できるスライダ保持手段を用いて前 記へッドスライダを保持する工程と、
前記フレキシャ電極を覆う前記半田材の領域内であって、 前記スライ ダ電極から最も遠い前記半田材部分を加熱溶融する工程と、
前記溶融された前記半田材部分を介して前記フレキシャ電極を加熱す ることで前記フレキシャ電極に密着する領域の前記半田材を溶融する工程と、 前記フレキシャ電極に密着する領域の前記半田材を溶融させた後、 前 記スライダ保持手段により前記スライダを保持し移動し、 前記スライダ電極と 前記フレキシャ電極との半田材による接続状態を解消し、 前記へッドスライダ を前記フレキシャから分離する工程と、 を備えるへッドスライダ分離方法。
2 . 前記半田材部分を加熱溶融するためにレーザビームを使用す る請求項 1に記載のへッドスライダ分離方法。
3 . へッドスライダのスライダ電極とフレキシャのフレキシャ電 極とが半田材により電気的に接続された状態で前記フレキシャに実装されて いる前記へッドスライダを、 前記フレキシャから分離するためのへッドスライ ダ分離装置であって、
前記へッドスライダが実装されている前記フレキシャを固定するため の固定手段と、 前記半田材の所定の加熱位置を加熱するための加熱手段と、 前記へッドスライダを保持し移動させるためのスライダ保持手段と、 を備え、
前記所定の加熱位置は、 前記フレキシャ電極を覆う前記半田材の領域 内であって、 前記スライダ電極から最も遠い前記半田材部分であり、
前記固定手段によりフレキシャを固定した状態で前記加熱手段により 前記所定の加熱位置を加熱し、 溶融した前記半田材部分を介して前記フレキシ ャ電極を加熱することで前記フレキシャ電極に密着する領域の半田材を溶融 させ、 前記スライダ保持手段により前記へッドスライダを保持し移動すること で、 前記へッドスライダを前記フレキシャから分離するへッドスライダ分離装 置。
4 . 前記加熱手段は、 レーザ装置である請求項 3に記載のへッドス ライダ分離装置。
