Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device that uses the application of electric currents to cause or favor the desquamation of the skin in order to improve its appearance.
  • the skin is composed of two layers: the epidermis and the dermis.
  • the epidermis is a thin outer layer composed of stratified epithelium.
  • the outermost layer of the epidermis is the stratum corneum, which is composed of flattened cells filled with the keratin protein. It is believed that the cells are linked together by protein connections between the cells.
  • the cells in the deepest portion of the epidermis, the basal layer multiply and grow, pushing the older cells of the epidermis up and close to the surface. As these-cells move up, they flatten.
  • the epidermis is generally devoid of blood vessels, and depends on the blood vessels found in the dermis for nutrition.
  • the most superficial cells of the epidermis being very removed from the nutrient supply, gradually differentiate, transforming their proteins into keratin. This keratinization process results in the death of the cells.
  • the outermost dead cells of the stratum corneum detach and are replaced by more recently keratinized cells.
  • the stratum corneum detaches itself as individual cells or as small agglomerates of cells.
  • Skin problems such as dry skin, aging, dandruff, acne, corns and sunburn can be described as disorders of keratinization, in which the detachment of cells of the stratum corneum on the surface of The skin is altered in relation to normal, young, and healthy skin.
  • a new device to peel the skin through the use of electric currents which consists of an insulating support, is the subject of this registration; which at the same time serves as mango; that at one end it houses a metallic body covered by its outer face, or of application, by an element that in the application of the device will act as an impedance element between said metallic body and the skin, this impedance element will be of characteristics such that, applying a current of adequate power to the metal body, the device can be applied to the skin, with mass return, so that between the skin and the device there is a local and uniform action of electrical discharges that cause or favor the desquamation of The skin, and that sliding the device on the skin also favors the dragging of desquamated cells, all this preventing scarring.
  • the element that covers the metal body Not only is it resistant to local discharges that occur during the application of the device, but also to maintain its properties if hair is burned in the application area, thus preventing its perforation and the consequent danger of damaging the skin.
  • the present description is completed with the incorporation of a safety circuit to the current generator that feeds the device for desquamation. In case of deterioration of the part of the device that comes into contact with the skin, this safety circuit will have the function of controlling the generator, in such a way as to avoid damaging the skin or the production of cauterization burn.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device for peeling the skin
  • Figure 2 is a section of the same device.
  • the device object of the invention consists of an insulating support (1), which also serves as a handle, and which at its base (2) contains a metal body (3), or good conductor of the current, which is covered by its face exterior, or application, by an element (4) of a plastic material that will act as an impedance element between the metal body (3) and the skin, the nature and shape of this element (4) will be such that it allows the application , by means of an electrical connection (5), of a suitable power to the metal body (3) is transferred so that in contact with the skin, with mass return, a local concentration of electric discharges, of such intensity, that causes or favor the desquamation of the skin and that sliding the device on it also achieves the removal of desquamated cells, all this preventing scars from occurring on the skin.
  • the element (4) that covers the metal body (3) is of a nature that makes it resistant to local discharges that occur during the application of the device, thus preventing its perforation and the consequent danger of damaging the skin.
  • This embodiment also provides for the incorporation of a current generator to feed the device for descaling and which also incorporates a electrical safety circuit that in case of eventual deterioration of the device prevents the generator from supplying power to the device and may damage the skin or burn it by cauterization.
  • the protection circuit may consist of: a resistor connected in series with the electrical connection (5) that supplies the device and a DC amplifier.
