Abstract

Vinyl polymers are prepared by addition polymerization in the presence of a nonvolatile, polyol-based fatty oil. The vinyl polymer is used in a printing ink varnish. The printing ink of the invention is free of, or has a low content of, volatile organic compounds. Unsaturated nonvolatile, polyol-based fatty oils which participate in the polymerization reaction may be included.
