Abstract

The invention relates to a solubilisate, comprising an aqueous solution of a preservative for food, cosmetics and similar, including potassium sorbate, calcium sorbate, sodium benzoate, potassium benzoate and calcium benzoate and an emulsifier with an HLB value of 9 to 18, for example, a polysorbate.

Description

To improve the shelf life of food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and care products, these products are mixed with preservatives that inhibit their infestation by fungi and / or mold. Widely used as preservatives have found sorbic acid and its potassium or calcium salt. As further preservatives, the benzoates of sodium, potassium or calcium are often used for the above-mentioned products.
Unfortunately, the preservatives mentioned have little efficacy as a microbiological protection for fatty substances, because of the low solubility of the preservatives in the fats and oils used in the products mentioned above. Therefore, the agents adhere to the outside of the fat droplets and can not extend their protective action into the interior of the fat mixtures.
The invention is therefore based on the object to improve the microbiological protection of fatty substances.
To achieve this object, the invention provides a solubilizate which comprises a preservative which is either potassium sorbate or calcium sorbate or a benzoate of sodium or potassium or calcium, water and an emulsifier having an HLB value of between 9 and 18, for example a polysorbate, consists. This solubilizate, which preferably contains a saturated, aqueous solution of the preservative, is readily soluble in fats and oils and is well suited for immediate incorporation into the products mentioned at the outset, expediently within a few days. For a longer storage period for months, it is advisable to add one or more mitigikettiger triglycerides or lighter vegetable oils to the solubilizate, which reliably prevent precipitation of parts of the preservative.
It is preferred that the amount by weight of the polysorbate used is at least about twice as large as the weight proportions of the preservative, of the water and optionally of the triglycerides taken together. As polysorbate is mainly the polysorbate 80 in Consider, wherein the use of polysorbate 20 gives a less viscous solubilizate. The solubilizate according to the invention can be completely finely divided and homogeneously incorporated into the lipophilic constituents of the end products mentioned without additional working steps, so that the entire amount of lipophilic substances in the end product is microbiologically protected. The solubilizate according to the invention is particularly suitable for oils, fats, margarine, waxes, poultry meat, mayonnaise, prefabricated soup concentrates, sauces, creams, skin creams and pharmaceuticals.
Die Erfindung wird nachstehend anhand folgender Ausführungsbeispiele beschrieben:The invention will be described below with reference to the following embodiments:
Beispiel 1 :Example 1 :
About 10% by weight of potassium sorbate (E202) is dissolved with about 13% by weight of distilled water of about 70 to 75 ° C to a saturated solution by stirring for about three to five minutes until clear and stirred. Then, about 77% by weight polysorbate 80 are added to the solution and stirred in the said heat until the mixture has reached homogeneity and transparency.
This solubilizate thus contains 10% by weight of fat-soluble and water-soluble potassium sorbate.
Beispiel 2:Example 2:
In the saturated aqueous solution of potassium sorbate according to Example 1, about 10% by weight medium chain triglycerides are added and stirred at the indicated temperature for about five minutes, until a homogeneous, turbid emulsion. This emulsion is stirred with 67% by weight polysorbate 80 according to Example 1 until transparent.
Beispiel 4:Example 3: 10% by weight of potassium sorbate are stirred again with about 13% by weight of distilled water at 70 to 75 ° C until clear. About 10% by weight of a light vegetable oil, such as sunflower oil, olive oil, safflower oil, is added to the solution and stirred at the temperature mentioned until the emulsion is homogeneous. About 67% by weight polysorbate 80 is added to this mixture and stirred in the heat until transparency is obtained. Example 4:
About 10% by weight of sodium benzoate is dissolved in about 20% by weight of water at 70 to 75 ° C. to a saturated, clear solution by stirring. This solution is stirred at the designated temperature with about 70% by weight polysorbate 80 to clarity, homogeneity and transparency.
Beispiel 5:Example 5:
About 10% by weight of sodium benzoate are stirred as in Example 4 in about 20% by weight of distilled water at a temperature of about 70 to 75 0 C until a I 0 saturated, clear solution. About 10% by weight of medium-chain triglycerides are added to the solution and stirring is continued at the indicated temperature until the emulsion is homogeneous. Finally, about 60% by weight polysorbate 80 is added and stirred at the indicated heat until clear and transparent.
I5 I 5
0Instead of the sodium benzoate, potassium benzoate or calcium benzoate can be used at the same weight ratios. Again, polysorbate 80 is preferred, while the use of polysorbate 20 gives a less viscous product. 0
5 The vegetable oils which can be used for the invention are of conventional type. For the triglycerides it is possible, for example, to use the mixture obtainable under the trade name MIGLYOL 812 from Caesar & Lorentz GmbH, Hilden, which essentially comprises octanoic acid and decanoic acid and a little dodecanoic acid. 5
The specified temperature values are particularly favorable for the recovery of the solubilizates. Increasing the temperature, for example, to 85 0 C, the degree of saturation of the preservative is formally higher, in practice, but lower because of Wasserabdampfes while stirring. If the temperature is lowered to about 60 ° C., not only is the preservative content of the solution smaller, but it must also be stirred for more than about five minutes.
The stated percentages by weight are based on the total weight of the finished solubilisate (= 100% by weight).
