Jewel to suspend a pair of glasses to a garment
The present invention relates to the field of personal accessories to be used on a garment and it is particularly referred to a jewel to suspend temporarily a pair of glasses.
It is known to everybody the problem to hold temporarily one's own eyeglasses or sunglasses during intervals of non use of the same.
Usually, a person who wears glasses, both eyeglasses or sunglasses, every time that he has to take them off for short periods of time, he has the problem to place them near to himself, in a safe place, without damage them and especially avoiding to leave them, without paying attention, in a place that he may not remember in a successive moment when he needs to use them again.
Generally, the best place to house said glasses is constituted by pockets or small pockets placed on garments such a jacket or a shirt, but when the garment is not provided with such pockets, the problem seems almost unsolvable.
Therefore, it would be very useful to have an accessory suitable to be used on a garment such as a jacket, a shirt or a jersey, which is easily to set on such clothing, which has a pleasant look and when possible which has an aesthetical, decorative effect and which constitutes at the same time a mean to suspend effectively the personal glasses.
According to the invention said accessory could be a small case, made even of precious metal, provided with a mean of suspension preferably ring-shaped, said case able to be applied to a garment provided with buttons as button cover or, in the event that the garment does not have buttons, to be pinned as a brooch or a pin or to be fastened on the garment by means of a couple of magnets.
Said aims and embodiments, as well as the respective advantages, are shown in the enclosed drawings in which:
the figure 1 shows a case according to the invention, constituting a jewel to which a pair of glasses is suspended; the figure 2 shows the invention, in a assembly top view; the figures 3 and 4 show the invention, in the embodiment applicable to the garment as button cover, viewed from the side in touch with the garment; the figure 5 shows the invention of figures 3 and 4, applied as button cover to a shirt; the figure 6 shows the invention, in the embodiment applicable to the garment as a pin, viewed from the side in touch with the garment; the figure 7 shows the invention of figure 6, applied as a pin to the buttonhole of a jacket; the figure 8 shows the front view of the invention, in the embodiment applicable to the garment by means of two magnets; the figure 9 shows the rear view of the invention, in the embodiment applicable to the garment by means of two magnets; the figure 10 shows the exploded view of the invention of figure 8. A jewel 1, to suspend a pair of glasses to a garment, according to the invention is constituted by an octagonal prism-shaped case 2 of low thickness and internally hollow, made of metallic material, even of precious metal, presenting laterally on any face 4, a mean 5 to suspend the glasses, said mean constituted by a shaped eyelet made of wire, steadily hinged at 3 to said face 4.
Said case has on the upper part a circular central zone 6, slightly lowered, fit for setting a finishing, decorative accessory such as precious stones, semiprecious stones, murrhine stones, lucky amulets and zodiacal signs, letters of the alphabet, cameos, etc. not shown in figure. In a different embodiment, said lowered central zone is able to house a second case which is counter-shaped in respect to the first one and it has
the same finishing than said main case to which said second one is intended to fit in.
In the embodiment of said jewel applied to the garment as button cover, on the lower face of the case 2, a small plate 7 is placed in touch with the garment and is opened like a collar and hinged at 8 to the opposite face to the one housing the hinge 3 of the suspension eyelet 5; said small plate has a flared out, opening zone 11, converging towards a central hole 9, the opening is fit for helping the entrance of the shank of the button 10 in the central hole 9. Said manoeuvre is accomplished through the small plate 7 rotated in an open position according to the hollow zone 12 of the case 2, so that the upper face 15 of the button 10 is parallel to said small plate; consequently the button 10 will be housed inside said hollow zone 12 and when the case 2, swinging on the hinge 8 placed between the small plate and the case, will close on said small plate, it will be firmly but reversibly fastened to it, because of the grip of its two end portions 13 and 14, placed on the collar- shaped small plate 7. By such operating mode, the case will hide the button placed on the garment and the suspension ring 5, jointed to the case 2, will allow the engagement of the glasses through the insertion of one of the two temples 18 of the glasses 20 inside itself.
In another embodiment, which has the same inventive concept than the first one, the jewel is shaped in such a way as to be applied to the garment as a pin.
As showed in figure 6, the case 22 has the same octagonal prism shape, of low thickness and internally hollow, provided with a suspension ring 55, but it has, internally and centrally in the hollow zone 12, a pin 16 which orthogonally projects out from said hollow and fit for piercing the fabric of the garment or more properly to pass through a buttonhole placed on the same garment. Said pin is fit for being locked by a small cap 17, provided with a central hole 21 on the lower plate 19; the central hole is fit for housing the pinpoint 23 of the pin 16, which will be locked into the cap
by a spring means not shown in figure 6 and engaged by two tangs 24 and 25 placed laterally on the upper zone of said cap.
In a further embodiment, characterized by the same basic inventive concept, the jewel is fastened to the garment through two magnets. In this embodiment the case 2, which constitutes as in the other embodiments of the invention, the mean properly fit for suspending the glasses, is provided inside with a magnetic mean; the jewel is moreover provided with another case 26 to be positioned against the first one, to interpose a portion of the garment, in order to fasten the jewel in any position on the same garment. In such way the user is not constrained to hang up the glasses necessarily where there is one of the buttons of the worn garment and so he can choose the best position that enable a more safe and comfortable engagement.
Moreover, without the pin, it can be avoided that the prolonged use of the jewel, that involves to piercing the fabric approximately always in the same area or in adjacent zones, damages the garment.
The case 2, as showed in figures 8, 9 and 10, has the same shape than in the two previous embodiments, but inside, a counter-shaped rubber rigid container 27 is housed, which has an external octagonal shape too and it is internally hollow according to a cylindrical profile, fit for housing inside a magnetic small disk 28, which is further housed in a corresponding metallic half-cylindrical case 29, leaving a face of the small disk 28 free and touching the internal face of the shell constituting the case 2.
The second case 26 is constituted by another rubber shell 30, where a rubber rigid container 31 is housed, having cylindrical shape and fit for housing inside a magnetic cylindrical small disk 32, housed in a corresponding metallic half-cylindrical case 33, leaving a face of the small magnetic disk 32 touching the internal face of the shell 30.
In use, the magnetic case 2 constituting the jewel to suspend a pair of glasses will be placed on a portion of the garment and the second case 26 will be positioned directly below it so that the jewel will be firmly but
reversibly placed, enabling a safe engagement of the glasses by the insertion of one of the two temples 18 of glasses 20 in its inside.
Advantageously the assembly will constitute a jewel such as a button or a brooch, provided with a suspension ring mean fit for holding the temple of a glasses.
The embodiments of the invention here described are to be considered as merely exemplifying and not limitative, being possible several different embodiments without exceeding the same inventive concept, for example the case 2 may be fastened to the garment by any other known mean as, for example, a screw mean or any other engagement mean; furthermore, the suspension ring could be made of a portion of flexible chain, of a tubular portion of soft material or by a clip in any material able to hold steadily the temple of glasses.
