Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pallet for handling or storing loads.
- a pallet comprising a plate of rectangular or more generally polygonal shape, for receiving and supporting loads, and studs integral with a face thereof by which the pallet comes to rest on the ground.
- the height of the studs also allows the passage of the forks of a handling machine. We can thus lift and move the pallet with the load it supports.
- Pallets are commonly manufactured by assembling wooden slats arranged parallel to each other across connecting boards, three for example. The latter support wooden studs. The studs are either isolated or connected to each other by boards forming consolidation soles.
- Wooden pallets have the disadvantage of being relatively heavy and of not offering a perfectly flat bearing surface.
- wood especially if the pallet must circulate through certain countries, requires an expensive and restrictive treatment against parasites.
- Document FR-A-2 304 532 discloses a handling pallet, comprising a tray consisting of a blank of corrugated cardboard and cut to form parts of the tray and folded strips constituting housings for the feet, a cardboard plate provided with windows corresponding to the housing of the feet being arranged on the plate so that the housing enters the windows, and side members being introduced into the housing to constitute the feet themselves and ensure the locking in relative position of these various constituents.
- a cardboard pallet consisting of a bottom plate on which are formed foot elements and two symmetrical bottom elements ensuring the maintenance and the envelope of the elements of feet.
- Cardboard pallets have the particular advantage of being light, of being able to be assembled by gluing, and their disposal after use poses no problem. They have some drawbacks, however, including that of not having a tray strong enough for certain applications. For example, cardboard is susceptible to tearing and its compressive strength is low compared to that of wood. Furthermore, given their constitution the pallets lack rigidity and can deform. The floor is then not completely flat. Finally, their assembly can be difficult.
- the object of the invention is to provide a pallet sufficiently resistant to be able to replace those made of wood while being light.
- the invention also aims to provide a pallet structure allowing the use of materials which do not require any particular treatment against parasites.
- a pallet comprising a plate forming a support for loads to be handled or transported, and studs integral with the plate and arranged to allow the passage of forks of handling equipment, characterized by the the tray consists of a corrugated cardboard plate secured to a thin rigid plate. ! Thanks to this tray structure, the advantages of wood are preserved with regard to rigidity, in particular bending rigidity, and resistance to compression while benefiting from those of cardboard.
- the cardboard plate is of the tri- or quad-flute type for its high strength-to-weight ratio.
- a thin rigid plate made up of agglomerated fibers and having a thickness of between 1 and 10 mm, preferably 3 mm, formed a combination whose mechanical properties were excellent for an application as a pallet tray.
- the rigidity of the pallet comprising three rows of three studs each is further improved by connecting the studs of each row to one another by blades forming soles.
- FIG. 1 represents a partial view of a pallet tray according to the invention
- Figure 2 shows a pallet with connecting elements.
- FIG. 1 shows in perspective a tray 10 formed from a corrugated cardboard plate 12, associated with a rigid thin plate 14.
- the corrugated cardboard here has four BABA type grooves as defined according to standard NF Q 12-008. It consists of an assembly of corrugated sheets of paper and flat sheets. It comprises two large grooves A forming two layers of thickness equal to or greater than 4.5 mm, 5 mm for example, each and two small grooves forming two layers of thickness between 2 and 3.5 mm, for example 3 mm , each.
- the flat sheets are arranged between the fluted layers and on the surface.
- a suitable adhesive ensures the connection between the different layers. Where appropriate, the materials are treated so as to be resistant to humidity.
- a cardboard with three grooves is chosen.
- the structure is similar with one less groove than the previous cardboard.
- the structure with three or four grooves offers both very good resistance to vertical compression (in the direction of the grooves) and very good resistance to flat compression.
- the thin rigid plate 14 advantageously consists of a panel of agglomerated fibers.
- a panel is obtained by compressing a mattress of cellulosic fibers under high pressure.
- Such panels have a thickness of between 1 and 5 mm.
- a panel three mm thick is chosen. This material has excellent resistance to compression. It protects the corrugated cardboard on the surface and forms with it, thanks to lamination, a composite panel perfectly suited to the application as an upper pallet tray.
- the composite panel combines strength, particularly in bending, lightness and flatness.
- An example of an agglomerated fiberboard is constituted by an MDF type panel like those sold under the brand Isorel.
- Another example consists of compact cardboard with a grammage greater than 600 g / m 2 , in particular greater than 1000 g / m 2 .
- Another example of a thin rigid plate consists of a plastic plate, in particular of polyolefin such as polyethylene or polypropylene.
- This slat 18 is added when a reinforcement of the pallet is necessary due to the constraints or the anticipated loads.
- a slat forms a link for a row of three studs.
- the studs are connected by three by a slat 19 forming the sole.
- the slats are made of plywood and the blocks of agglomerated wood fibers. The dimensions are defined according to the usual standards in the field.
