Abstract

Methods of detecting the presence of Mycobacterium or Nocardia in a sample using Mycobacterium and Nocardia secA nucleic acid sequences are disclosed. Methods of identifying a Mycobacterium or a Nocardia species involved in infection of a subject are also disclosed. The disclosure further provides Mycobacterium and Nocardia species-specific secA1 nucleic acid sequences.
