Abstract

L'invention concerne l'union de deux matériaux, un matériau rigide appelé EPDM (caoutchouc) et une résine hydrophile moulée et vulcanisée, qui forment un seul corps ou profil unique adapté à tout type de configurations géométriques, trouvant leur application dans des profils de menuiserie métallique, du bois ou d'un autre matériau pouvant servir à fabriquer ladite pièce de menuiserie. Le joint selon l'invention est caractérisé en ce que la zone du EPDM apporte un support rigide qui présente un certain degré d'élasticité afin de visser ou d'emboutir le profil ou la surface voulus et en ce que c'est la résine hydrophile qui interagit de façon dynamique, étant donné que ses propriétés lui permettent de se dilater lorsqu'elle réagit chimiquement avec un fluide pendant une durée et dans une proportion voulues en fonction de l'exposition de la résine à un certain degré d'humidité ou d'immersion. Le système selon l'invention assure l'étanchéité parfaite de l'élément ou de l'ensemble d'éléments auxquels il est appliqué. On a détermine que l'expansion peut être équivalente à huit fois son volume et atteindre une pression de scellement de 600 kg/cm2 selon les essais réalisés, les paramètres étant conditionnés au fluide auquel le joint est soumis et au jeu déterminé pour son expansion.
