Abstract

A cooking device with a door. The door has baffle plates in order to guide a cooling air stream in the door in an efficient manner. Thus the temperature of the outer surface of the door does not reach critical values

Description

Description
A COOKING DEVICE HAVING BAFFLE PLATES FOR GUIDING COOLING AIR STREAM THROUGH THE DOOR
[001] This invention is related to a cooking device that comprises a door which, has a lower temperature value than the temperature of the cooking chamber. [002] When cooking devices such as ovens operate, the temperature in the cooking chamber is much higher than the outside temperature. Due to the temperature in the cooking chamber all the walls of the cooking device heat up as well as the door. Contact of the user with the hot door at any point may result in injuries. In order to prevent such negative effects the temperature of the door of a cooking device should be lower than certain heat values as regards to the international standards. Various applications have been developed in order to lower the door temperature. [003] In the current state of art, United States Patent US5107821 , an air duct through which cool air is blown has been placed between the front panel and the bac?k panel that constitute the oven door. [004] In the current state of art, United States Patent US5441036; however, the door of the cooking device is separated into four air ducts that let the air pass throug?h and that are connected to each other. [005] At another application of the invention, United States Patent US5918589, the door of the cooking device is separated vertically into at least two sections whereby ducts in which air passes, are formed. Both on the top and the bottom parts of these ducts many holes are designed. [006] The objective of the present invention is to realize a cooking device that comprises a door that has a lower temperature value than the cooking chamber. [007] A cooking device that is realized to achieve the objectives of the invention is illustrated on the attached figures, where: [008] Figure 1 - General view of a cooking device. [009] Figure 2 - Exploded view of a door. [010] Figure 3 - Schematic view of an alternative application of a diverter. [011] Figure 4 - Schematic view of another alternative application of a diverter. [012] Figure 5 - Schematic view of another alternative application of a diverter. [013] Figure 6 - Schematic view of another alternative application of a diverter. [014] Figure 7 - Exploded view of a door where a diverter is placed between a interior panel and an exterior panel. [015] Figure 8 - Schematic view of an alternative application for a door. [016] Components illustrated on the drawings are numbered individually and listed below. [017] 1. Cooking device [018] 2. Cooking chamber [019] 3. Door [020] 4. Exterior panel
[021] 5. Interior panel
[022] 7, 107 - Diverter
[023] 8a, 8b - Hole ,
[024] The cooking device (1) that is the subject of invention, comprises a cooking chamber (2) in which foods desired to be cooked are placed and a functional door (3) that separates the cooking chamber from outside and also provides access to the interior of the cooking chamber (2) (Figure 1).
[025] The door (3) comprises an exterior panel (4) that its one surface of which contacts outer environment, an interior panel (5) one surface of which contacts the cooking chamber (2), one or more than one hole (8b) that are referred as air inlet holes and that open towards the bottom side of the door (3) which provide air flow from inside the cooking chamber (2) between the exterior and interior panels (4 and 5), and one or more than one hole (8a) located on the top side of the door (3) and referred to as air outlet holes that provides the air which enters from the air inlet holes and pass through the door (3) to be thrown away from the door (3), one or more than one diverter (7, 107) that are located in a way that no space is permitted between exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5), and that by increasing the flow rate of air that passes from the surface of exterior panel (4) increase the heat transfer between the door (3) and thte air; thus, decreasing the door (3) temperature.
[026] At the preferred application of the invention, two diverters (7) are located between the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) inclined at a certain angle towards each other along the side of the door (3). Therefore, cross sectional area where air passes over is narrowed from the bottom side towards the top side of the door (3) and flow rate of air that passes over the surface of exterior panel (4) is increased and the over heating of exterior panel (4) and thus of the door (3) is prevented (Figure 3a).
[027] At an alternative application of the invention, two diverters (7) are located again along the side of the door (3). However, at this application, diverters (7) are located between the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) in a way that they would approach inclined to each other in the section close to the bottom side of the door (3), then vertical to the side of the door (3) and parallel to each other reaching the top side of the door (3) (Figure 3b).
[028] At another application of the invention, however, diverters (7) are obtained by combining several pieces. Diverters (7) that are obtained by positioning each piece parallel to each other and successively with an increasing inclination with respect to the top side of the door (3), are located along the side of the door (3) with an inclination approaching each other between the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) of the door (3) (Figure 3c and Figure 3d).
[029] At an alternative application of the door (3), being the subject of invention, the door (3) comprises a diverter (107) in plate form, located between the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) in order to prevent over heating of the exterior panel (4) and consequently of the door (3) by increasing the air flow rate. Diverters (107) are located between the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) completely separating the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) from each other and located in an inclined form between the air inlet and outlet holes (8a and 8b), exterior panel (4) and diverter (107) (Figure 5).
[030] At another application of the invention, the door (3) comprises a diverter (107) in. plate form located between the exterior panel (4) and interior panel (5) with certain spacing, and diverters (7) located between the diverter (107) and exterior panel (4) leaving no space between the diverter (107) and exterior panel (4) (Figure 4).
[031 ] The door temperature is decreased by increasing the flow rate of air passing over the surface of diverters (7, 107) and exterior panel (4) and thus increasing the heat transfer between the door (3) and air. Therefore, any harm sustained by the user that may arise as a result of a contact with the exterior panel (4) forming the door (3) is prevented.
