Abstract

A sanitary drainage device comprising a stainless steel vent (4) with an inner and outer rim (2, 1) and water inlets (3) which are used to direct the flow of water from a shower or the like to a sunken surface (5) where it is contained and pushed slowly to the drainage vent by the domed inner surface. This arrangement provides a certain amount of water at the upper end of the device that can be used for cleaning the surrounding surfaces of the shower cubicle or the like while at the same time passing water through the device which ensures its sanitation.

Description

SANITARY DRAINAGE DEVICE
This invention relates to improvements in devices for sanitising showers and surrounding facilities.
For many people a lack of time in a day to complete necessary hygenic and/or sanitary procedures can result in costly delays and increased stress. There have been many proposals to sanitise showers and surrounding facilities, many require excessive water consumption and harsh chemical cleaners.
For example one previous device proposes a flip top seat with basin and water flush to dispose of urine. These proposals have the disadvantage that massive amounts of water are used every time the device is used. These problems are overcome by the present invention which provides a Sanivent device comprising a stainless steel vent with water inlets in four points of its circumference, this is to ensure water can be transferred to a sunken inner surface without being forced through the water outlet.
In one form of the invention the stainless steel vent comprises a sunken inner surface with a slightly domed curve in the centre to allow water to be contained and slowly released depending on the force of the flow from the surrounding source. In another form of the invention the sunken inner surface comprises a rim slightly lower than the outer rim being the inner rim. Where between the inner and outer rim there is a vent broken in its circumference by only four inlets. This is to drain water from the shower in its entirety and allow just enough water to fill the sunken inner surface where it can be slowly vented to the surrounding drain. Such a gap may include a grill or mesh to ensure the users safety.
The vent may be made of stainless steel as with the sunken inner surface, inner rim, outer rim, water inlets and grill.
To assist with understanding the invention, reference will be made to the accompanying drawings which show one example of the invention.
In the drawings:
FIG 1 shows one example of a Sanivent device according to this invention
FIG 2 shows the application of such a Sanivent device to the common shower drain
Referring to FIG 1 it can be seen that the Sanivent device according to this invention comprises an outer rim(l) with inside an inner rim (2) with drainage vents (4) punctured by water inlets (3) around its circumference, at the centre of which can be found a sunken inner surface (5) with a slight dome (6).
FIG 2 shows the Sanivent device in operation. It can be seen that water is passed (14) through the inlet(9) into the sunken inner surface (11) where it is then pushed slowly (16) over the inner rim(8) and into the drainage vent(lθ) where water is moved(15) through the outer rim(7) where it joins water from the domed sunken inner surface (12) to flow from the drain (13).
It will be realised that the Sanivent device according to this invention is not restricted to a simple metal grill used to drain water from a shower shown in the example, but any drain or vent used which requires an artificial surface to be created to provide sanitary means.

Claims

The claims defining the invention are as follows:
1. A Sanivent device comprising a stainless steel outer with water inlets and a sunken domed inner surface allowing water to be passed and contained within the device before being flushed into the drain.
2. The Sanivent device of claim 1 wherein each of the water inlets are used to pass water from the outer rim to the inner surface where a continual flow is created where water is drained and simultaneously slowed in part to better service the device.
3. The Sanivent device of claim 1 where there are four water inlets from the outer to inner rim.
4. The Sanivent device of claim 3 where the vents circumference is covered by a stainless steel grill between the inner and outer rim permitting only water through the designated water inlets to pass into the inner rim.
5. The Sanivent device of any one of claims 1 to 4 where an artificial surface is created inside the area surrounded by the inner rim alone which is used for sanitary purposes.
6. The Sanivent device of any one of the claims 1 to 4 where the artificial surface is created by a continual flow of water through the device.
7. A Sanivent device substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
