Abstract

It is described a pot for cooking pasta (10) shaped in the form of a truncated cone and provided with elliptic sections (11) and handles (12). The pot allows to determine the quantity of water necessary for cooking a given quantity of pasta.

Description

POT FOR COOKING PASTA AND RELATED LID AND ACCESSORY Field of the invention

The object of the invention is a new cooking pot, and its lid, intended for cooking

"pasta". By using this pot it is possible to easily and immediately measure the different ingredients (pasta, water, salt) and to cook pasta homogeneously and perfectly.

State of the art

On the market there is a wide offer of food cooking pots adapted to different kind of foods to be cooked in order to exalt their taste and making the cooking easier also considering the various heating apparatuses used and the food which must be prepared.

In particular, for cooking pasta, for example already available are pots with an internal basket used to drain pasta, and there are also normal pots equipped with a lid, with many small holes, that functions as a colander. However, it is to take into account that in order to get a perfect dish of pasta it is necessary an appropriate quantitative relation among the quantities of pasta, water and salt.

Without long experience it is hard to calculate, at a glance, the quantities, so there is a need for boring measuring (scales, cups, spoons, etc). It is obvious that a pot, particularly designed for easily and simply cooking pasta, in particular long shaped pasta (such as spaghetti, vermicelli, macaroni, linguine, bucatini, etc) would be very helpful and convenient for anybody.

The present invention, exactly provides the user with a pot that overcomes all the above mentioned problems. Description of the invention The present invention refers to a pot and its lid for cooking pasta, in particular long shaped pasta as above defined.

The advantages of the pot according to the invention will be clearly understandable in the light of the description and of the Figures. As it is shown in Figure 1 , the pot according to the invention 10 is, basically, truncated cone shaped with four elliptic sections 11. The longest axis of the base allows the long pasta (spaghetti, macaroni) to lay horizontally in the boiling water.

This allows to eliminate the time required for the bending of the pasta (when dropped in water vertically as in common pots) and for its total immersion through the use of a fork or the hands.

Each elliptic level (wave) 11 has increasing section and decreasing height, starting from the pot bottom, so that each of the 4 levels indicates the exact water quantity required for preparing from 1 to 4 portions of pasta.

Preferably the side handles 12 are capable of holding down firmly the lid 13 against the rim 14 of the pot; preferably at least a portion of the surface of the lid

13 presents holes and slits 15 expressly devised for a fast flowing of the water, with no sprinkle effect.

Preferably, on top of the lid is screwed or fixed a handle 16 presenting holes 17 different in diameter, that allow to measure long pasta by running it through the holes.

If preferred the handle 16 of the lid 13 can present a groove in which a detachable accessory 19 can be inserted.

This accessory 19 is a shaft equipped with a small bowl 20 on one end, and a special hook 21 on the other end. The bowl 20 (scoop) contains the exact quantity of coarse salt for 1 portion of pasta; the hook 21 allows to "catch" a single macaroni or spaghetti to test the cooking point.

According to a particular embodiment of the invention the handle 16 of the lid 13 is disposed parallel to the surface of the lid (as shown in Figures 3 and 5), this embodiment allows an easier measure of the needed quantity of pasta. The devised pot has preferably the following dimensions:

Base of the pot: 27 cm long, 15 cm wide;

Top of the pot: 32 cm long, 20 cm wide Height of the pot: 14,5 cm

Preferably, the pot has 4 sections 11 and the handle on the lid 16 has 2 or 3 holes 17 for measuring 1 , 2, or 3 portions of long shaped pasta. The diameter of the holes can be, for example, respectively: 23 - 32 - 36 mm or 23 and 32 mm in the case of two holes.

The scoop (hemispheric bowl) has a radius of 13,5 mm; the shaft is 18 cm long. The pot and the accessory according to the invention can be made of the most suitable materials; preferably the pot and the accessory will be made of stainless steel, with triple base (3 ply capsule) (stainless steel-copper/aluminium-stainless steel) for an optimised diffusion of the heat; while the handles will be made of material having a low heat conduction as wood, resin, bakelite, etc.

Claims

1. Pot for cooking long shaped pasta having essentially a truncated cone shape formed by elliptical sections (11 ), wherein the longer axis of the bottom section is so long to allow the laying on said bottom of the long shaped pasta of standard measure.

2. Pot (10) according to claim 1 wherein in the interior are present the sections (11) having decreasing height, starting from the bottom of the pot, which show the exact level of water necessary for cooking a correspondent number of standard portions of pasta.

3. Pot according to claims 1 and 2 having side handles (12) capable of holding down firmly the lid (13) against the rim (14) of the pot.

4. Pot according to claim 3 wherein at least a portion of the surface of the lid (13) presents holes and slits (15) which allow a fast flow of the water.

5. Pot according to Claims 1 - 4 wherein the lid (13) presents an handle (16) having holes (17) having various diameters.

6. Pot according to claim 5 wherein the handle (16) of the lid (13) can present a groove (18) capable of holding, in a detachable manner, an accessory (19) consisting of a shaft equipped with a small bowl (20) at one end and a hook (21) at the other end.

Pot according to claims 1 - 6 wherein such pot has the following dimensions: base of the pot: 27 cm long, 15 cm wide; top of the pot: 32 cm long, 20 cm wide; height of the pot: 14,5 cm, and presents 4 sections (11), a handle (16) with 3 holes (17) having the following dimensions: 23 - 32 - 36 mm.

8. Pot according to claim 7 wherein the handle (16) presents a surface parallel to the surface of the lid containing two holes having the following dimensions: 23 - 32 mm.
