  • This invention relates to personal computers and more specifically to a computer that supports dual monitors wherein at least one of the computers is detached, receiving its video signal by telemetry.
  • Prior Art It is known to have a personal computer that supports dual monitors, both receiving their video signals through electric cables connected to the computer. Both monitors may be driven by the same video signal resulting in duplicate display content being displayed on the respective monitors. Dual monitors are also frequently used by a single user to display more content than is conveniently displayed on a single computer.
  • Dual monitors are also convenient, for example, when more than one person wishes to observe the displayed content. Such might be the case when an operator is presenting display content to another person or group of persons not in the same location or in an orientation that makes observation of the operator' s monitor ineffective or inconvenient.
  • the present invention comprises a personal computer and a primary display monitor and further including a secondary display monitor remote from the computer receiving its video signal by telemetry instead of through a video cable. It is known to have a computer that supports two display monitors with display content duplicated on the respective computers.

It then can be used as a two- sided display or it can be detached and carried to a more convenient or comfortable location where it is viewed separately by the second observer as an operator generates display content from the computer. At least when detached, the secondary monitor is battery powered.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un ordinateur personnel fournissant un signal vidéo à une paire de moniteurs de visualisation principal et secondaire. L'amélioration apportée réside dans le fait que le moniteur de visualisation secondaire situé à distance de l'ordinateur reçoit sont signal vidéo par télémétrie plutôt que par l'intermédiaire d'un câble vidéo. Un émetteur de signaux vidéo est connecté à l'ordinateur par l'intermédiaire d'un câble émetteur branché dans le port du moniteur de visualisation de l'ordinateur. Le signal est ensuite transmis depuis l'ordinateur par l'émetteur connecté au récepteur connecté au moniteur secondaire. Dans un mode de réalisation différent, la télémétrie entre le moniteur de visualisation secondaire et l'ordinateur est réalisée par l'intermédiaire d'une carte d'accès à distance, laquelle technologie est bien connue dans l'art de la technique. De cette manière, un second observateur peut se déplacer avec le moniteur de visualisation secondaire, ou il peut être assis confortablement dans un bureau en tenant ledit moniteur de visualisation. Dans la pratique, le moniteur principal et le moniteur secondaire sont tous deux des écrans plats, tels que les écrans issus de la technologie LCD. Le moniteur secondaire peut être monté de manière amovible à l'arrière du moniteur principal. Il peut alors être utilisé comme écran double ou il peut être détaché et transporté vers un emplacement plus pratique ou plus confortable où il peut être visualisé séparément par le second observateur pendant qu'un opérateur génère un contenu d'affichage depuis l'ordinateur.
