Abstract

The granulation device (1) comprises a melt distributor (2), for the distribution of an introduced melt (arrow S) of a material with thermoplastic properties to several melt channels (3). The melt distributor comprises an inlet (2a), for connection to a non-represented extruder, which generates the melt and transports the same to the melt distributor by a corresponding pressurisation. A conical cavity (2b) extends from the inlet, to which said melt channels are connected. The melt distributor is made from a metal, such as, for example, steel. The melt distributor is connected to a granulation die plate (5) on the front face thereof, by means of a clamping ring (4) and tensioning screws (6), whereby a peripheral section of the granulating die plate is embodied as clamping flange (5d). The melt channels are embodied in the granulating die plate. The melt channel is surrounded by an annular groove (5b), embodied in the granulating die plate. A temperature control element is arranged in the annular groove, generally referred to by the reference (11). Said temperature control element encloses the melt channel about the entire circumference thereof and a significant part of the axial length thereof. The annular groove and the temperature control element housed thereon, extend to the vicinity of the outlet opening (5c), in order to be able to guarantee a desired temperature in the melt channel, almost to the outlet opening.
