Abstract

The invention relates to a method of reducing the number of components forming a vehicle body. More specifically, the invention relates to a car body configuration comprising identical elements which are each reproduced several times. Said configuration considerably simplifies the assembly of a vehicle body, providing savings in terms of production method, spare part storage and maintenance. According to the invention, four different body elements are required, namely: one element (1) which is reproduced four times and which forms the front and rear mudguards; one element (2) for the roof and the supports thereof; one element (3) which is reproduced twice and which forms the front hood and the rear boot; and one element which is reproduced either two or four times, depending on whether it is intended for a coupe or a sedan, and which forms the sliding doors. The headlights and the taillights are provided with the same form, as are the front windscreen and the back window. The invention enables manufacturers to produce cars having different forms and lines.
