Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel tank and a method for its production.
- fuel tanks in motor vehicles have a hollow body made of polyethylene (PE).
- PE polyethylene
- fuel tanks are often modified to effectively suppress the permeation.
- the PE polyethylene
- Such tanks are e.g. made of high pressure polyethylene (HDPE) or a multilayer material (COEX), the two outermost layers of which are made of HDPE '.
- the basic material of such tanks is still PE.
- Components to be attached to the motor vehicle tank are usually welded to the fuel tank in order to find a secure and permanent hold on it.
- an add-on part has a connection surface, for example on a flange, hereinafter referred to as the first connection surface. In the assembled state, this lies against a counter surface of the fuel tank, hereinafter referred to as the second connection surface.
- the two connections welded surfaces, which presupposes that the plastic materials of the fuel tank and add-on part are chemically related and can form a cohesive connection with each other.
- tank add-on parts with housings made of, for example, PA or POM are necessary, since permeation through the housing wall should also be prevented in the attachments and this is not sufficiently guaranteed when using PE material.
- Suitable materials have sufficient permeation-tightness for the housings of the add-on parts, but, since they are polymers with polar groups, cannot be welded to PE and other non-polar polymers.
- the micropores in the respective plastic material are produced by a separate surface treatment, for example by roughening a material that has, for example, a fibrous structure.
- a plastic material that is microporous overall also having micropores that open into its surface. It would now be conceivable to manufacture an attachment entirely from such a material. For permeation reasons, only a material with a closed-pore structure can be used.
- the fuel tank have a first connection surface and the add-on part have a second connection surface, at least one housing area of the add-on part containing the first connection surface being made of a there is no plastic material that can be welded to the material of the hollow body and that an intermediate piece is arranged between the hollow body and the attachment part, each of which rests with a surface area on the first or on the second connecting surface, the intermediate piece having micropores opening into an upper compartment area , into which protruding projections protrude from a connecting surface.
- the intermediate piece consists of a special material, such as a microporous plastic.
- a microporous plastic In addition to plastic, other materials, for example microporous metals, which, like a microporous plastic material, can be produced, for example, by a sintering process are also suitable.
- the microporous material of the intermediate piece has closed pores, that is to say which are not interconnected. This effectively prevents permeation of fuel vapors in the area of the intermediate piece.
- fuel permeation can be prevented by using as thin as possible, foil-like intermediate pieces. It can also be achieved by a suitable procedure that a molten plastic material penetrates far into the film-like intermediate piece and thereby closes a considerable proportion of the micropores and thereby at least reduces fuel permeation.
- a mounting part is arranged between the intermediate piece and the hollow body, which consists of a plastic material that can be welded to the material of the fuel tank.
- a fuel tank of the type described can generally be manufactured by bringing one of the two plastic materials to be connected into contact with the other material in a flowable state, whereby it penetrates into its micropores. After the material has hardened, the above-mentioned microform connection between the two parts to be connected is formed.
- a thermoplastic material the flowable state is achieved by heating, in principle all plastic connection and processing methods, such as welding, injection molding, molding, etc., are suitable.
- thermosets can also be used in principle. These are applied in the liquid state to the surface of a microporous material, for example a microporous intermediate piece, and curing can take place in a physical manner (for example UV curing) or chemically (for example adding hardeners).
- FIG. 1 shows a section of a first embodiment of a fuel tank in a partially sectioned schematic view
- FIG. 2 shows detail II from FIG.
- FIG. 5 a second embodiment ariante in a representation corresponding to FIG. 1, FIG. 6 the detail VI from FIG. 5,

Description
Beschreibung
