  • the method comprises the following steps performed by a data base for storing subscriber data, storing an additional number to be dialled for reaching a user of the subscription, associating the additional number to the subscription by storing an association between the additional number and data stored for said subscription and storing limiting information to limit the services provided under the additional number compared to services provided under the main number.
  • This has the advantage that the invention can be implemented by minor adaptations of the database. Thus adaptations in the network or a terminal connected to said network are not necessary.
  • the privacy provided enables the owner of the subscription to hide his original number.
  • the original number is the number that comes with the subscription.
  • Said hiding of the original number may be used for particular purposes as avoiding receiving so-called spam messages or calls. It also enables to have privacy provided without the necessity of changing an existing subscription.
  • the storing of limiting information permits to restrict the services provided under the additional number in comparison to services provided under the main number. By this, a tailored solution can be offered to a subscriber that for example needs the second number only to use for short message service.
  • a main number is the first number allocated to a subscription.
  • the additional number is for instance a mobile station integrated services digital network number.
  • the additional number can be limited in the amount of time it is valid for. This is advantageous if a user of a subscription intends to use the additional number for a particular purpose and wants to restrict to be reachable for a predefined time. If a user of a subscription would like to offer services or goods for a predefined time for instance in the case of an auction or a special sales activity, the number can be inactivated after the end of the sales activity.
  • the invention further introduces a database for storing subscription data to be used in a cellular telecommunications system.
  • Said database comprises an input output unit, a processing unit and a storage. It is characterised by that the processing unit is adapted to initiate the storing of an additional number for reaching a user of a subscription and the associating of the additional number to subscription data stored for the subscription.

In the case that the additional number is valid for a predefined amount of time, it can be implemented by means of a timer that is decremented according to a clock signal.
  • the storage ST02, the processing unit PU2 and the input output unit IOU2 can be implemented by means of hardware, software, or a combination of both.
  • the processing unit PU2 is adapted to process requests for storing an additional number for a subscription and to associate data stored for the subscription to the additional number.
  • the storage is organised in a way that supports the storing of an additional number and said association. In the depicted embodiment all units are interconnected.

  • the home location register HLR3 returns the visited location register address together with the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) of the receiving terminal.
  • the SMS-gateway mobile services switching centre SMS- GWMSC interrogates the visited location register of the mobile services switching centre/visited location register MSC/NLR3 for the serving mobile services switching centre address. It receives said address in return and forwards the short message to the serving mobile services switching centre.

Abstract

L'invention concerne des moyens permettant d'assurer la confidentialité à un utilisateur bénéficiaire d'un abonnement à un réseau de télécommunication cellulaire. A cet effet, l'abonnement est fourni en mettant à disposition un numéro supplémentaire au moyen duquel les services du réseau peuvent être utilisés. Le second numéro, la correspondance des données de l'abonnement au numéro supplémentaire, ainsi que l'information d'acheminement pour atteindre l'utilisateur de l'abonnement, appelé sous le numéro supplémentaire, sont transmis dans le réseau.
