Definitions

  • Recepteur de messages pourvu de multiples orqanes de signalisation
  • Le domaine de I'invention esthold des radiocommunications et plus precisement justify des recepteurs de messages radio emis par des telephones portables.
  • the present invention relates to an arrangement of a self-service wagering terminal system including a computer module and a feeding module, the latter including an overload protection block interconnected with a power supply and a backup power supply, and also a data transmission block interconnected through a communication network with head office of a betting company.
  • the wageror usually puts down his/her draft tips there on a piece of paper available for this purpose in the betting shop, then he/she hands it to the operator at the counter who - according to the wageror's writing and verbal instructions - prepares the relevant ticket in a database available at his/her computer site, prints it and hands it over to the wageror who pays for it either in cash or through a cashless payment performed with his/her electronic purse or credit card.
  • This way of placing bets requires sufficient space - the wageror should have reasonably comfortable access to tables with offers; in addition, separated detached space (a counter) with the operator working site shall be available.
  • the disadvantage consists in the fact that the operator shall, in turn, according to the wagerors ' interest, attend not only the bet placing but also ensure other activities as e.g. supplementing new betting opportunities, up-to-dating current changes in ratings, times, dates of the sport events, printing necessary reports, etc. To cope with all the activities mentioned as above is almost impossible for one operator, especially when the wagerors ' interest to place bets is higher. In addition, the operator shall provide a wide range of other activities so his/her working load during the working hours is enormous. To operate such betting shop demands considerably high financial costs - both the overhead and wage ones.
  • the second way during which the wageror is physically present represents the use of terminals being usually located in various facilities in which their personnel provide necessary service in addition to his/her main job contents.
  • High costs for operator's wages in such betting places are partially reduced because his/her main job includes other activities; on the other hand, the fact mentioned above represents the main disadvantage of such facilities because the wageror must wait in queue in order to place a bet, e.g. in a tobacconist's shop or a news-stand, because other clients than wagerors are attended first in such facilities. This can sometimes even put off potential wagerors when queuing-up seems to be too long to them.
  • Another disadvantage of the system as mentioned above is the fact that the special preprinted forms shall be in advance filled in the proper way so that the terminal can distinguish the data and print out the demanded ticket.
  • necessary special forms need to be printed centrally and distributed to the individual betting shops; this fact also increases the overhead costs connected with betting.
  • the terminal serves in the case mentioned as a simple technical means for the operator employed in the betting shop, not directly for the wageror and so its usage and possibilities are therefore considerably limited.
  • Another way how to place bets is betting through wagering systems making full use of data networks, particularly the cellular and satellite networks, for transmission of data packets on bets.
  • the wagering system featuring with the improved communication between a master computer and a remote terminal is described in the Patent Application No. WO 99/30787.
  • the wagering system with a "rapid access" and a computer selection uses a key in the form of random numbers that serves as the seeds in an algorithm generating pseudo-random numbers.
  • the algorithm and the seed is used for creation of combinations of random numbers for each play in a bet in an agent's terminal when the combination of numbers is sequentially assigned and printed together with the sequential serial number to the ticket. Due to the fact that both the algorithm and the seed are stored both in the master computer and the agent's remote terminal, the remote terminal can transmit all relevant information using only the single transmission of the actual number of plays sold; this reduces the amount of exchanged data by several orders.
  • the reduced data exchange represents the innovation in the data transmission method as e.g. the satellite transmission of packets and cellular sen/ices.
  • the method intended for transmission of data on games into a global computer network is described in the European Patent Application EP 1 199 690 A2.
  • the method of the remote play includes a player's access through the remote terminal and a gaming place in a global computer network connected to the remote terminal.
  • the player can send his/her personal identification data into the gaming place through the remote terminal and select a game of chance located in a gaming machine intended for the remote game through the remote terminal.
  • the remote terminal is located outside the gaming machine.
  • the player places the bet for the selected game through the remote terminal and receives the randomly generated text or the graphical resulting data on the remote terminal for the game selected.
  • the resulting data are generated either through the game server or the gaming machine in the gaming device and are then transmitted to the gaming place.
