The invention relates to a device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle comprising a lever (1), coupled (3) at its lower end with the brake pedal, and at its upper end provided with means (4) for manual 10 operation by the driver, said lever (1) being operable by pushing downward, in such a way to push said brake pedal (2), being provided means for blocking the lever (1) in a lowered position.

DEVICE FOR MANUAL CONTROL OF THE BRAKE OF A
VEHICLE
The present invention relates to a device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle.
More specifically, the invention concerns a device of the above kind comprised of a lever that can be installed on each kind of vehicle and suitable to transform into manual control the pedal control of the brake.
As it is well known, in the last years many solutions have been studied to allow to handicapped persons to drive the vehicles.
Particularly, many solutions realised aims to transfer the controls close to the upper arms of the driver, the latter in many cases not being able to operate the controls using the pedals usually provided in the vehicles. In this situation is included the solution suggested according to the present invention, allowing to transform the brake pedal control into manual control.
It is therefore specific object of the present invention a device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle comprising a lever, coupled at its lower end with the brake pedal, and at its upper end provided with means for manual operation by the driver, said lever being operable by pushing downward, in such a way to push said brake pedal, being provided means for blocking the lever in a lowered position.
Preferably, according to the invention, in correspondence of the upper end of the lever it is provided a operation and control push-button panel.
Particularly, according to the invention, means are provided on said operation and control push-button panel, for operating said blocking device and/or to operate the electric horn. Preferably, said blocking device is an electromagnetic operated blocking device.
Furthermore, according to the invention, said means for manual operation by the driver are comprised of a knob.
The present invention will be now described, for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, with particular reference to the figures of the enclosed drawings, wherein: figure 1 is a schematic view of a first embodiment of the device according to the invention; figure 2 shows a particular of the device of figure 1 ; figure 3 is a schematic view of a second embodiment of the device according to the invention; and figure 4 shows a particular of the device of figure 3. As it can be noted observing all the figures of the enclosed drawings, it is possible to note the structure of device according to the invention. In the various figures, the same elements are indicated by the same reference numbers.
Particularly, device according to the invention provides a lever 1 , suitably shaped on the basis of the features of the vehicle, directly connected to the pedal 2 of the brake by a coupling 3, that can have different shapes. Really, coupling 3 of figures 1 and 2 is different with respect to the one shown in figures 3 and 4, being substantially different in function of the kind of vehicle on which the device according to the invention is installed.
As it can be seen from the figures, said lever 1 is provided with a knob 4, to allow a strong grip of the device, and with a push-button panel 5 allowing, by suitable buttons, to operate the electric horn and the electromagnetic operation blocking device and/or other functions. In the following, the operation of the device according to the invention will be described.
Leverl is movable according to the direction of arrow A. braking is obtained applying a downward thrust on the knob 4. Since lever 1 is directly connected with brake pedal 2, in this way the wished deceleration of the vehicle is obtained.
To activate the blocking device of the device according to the invention, it is sufficient to push the lever 1 downward and operating the suitable switch provided on the push-button panel 5. Release of the inventive device is simply obtained pushing again the lever 1 downward. As it is well clear from the figures of the enclosed designs, control lever 1 is directly coupled with the brake pedal 2, without further kinematics or anchoring supports, thus obtaining a very simple structure.
Said lever 1 allows the reduction of the force necessary to operate the brake pedal 3. Furthermore, being it provided a blocking device, it allows to easily activate the emergency brake.
By the provision of the push-button panel 5, integral with the same lever 1 , it makes easier the operation of electric horn, blocking device and/or other functions that it is wished to make available to the driver.
The present invention has been described for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, but it is to be understood that modifications and/or changes can be introduced by those skilled in the art without departing from the relevant scope as defined in the enclosed claims.

Claims

1. Device for manual control of trie brake of a vehicle characterised in that it comprises a lever, coupled at its lower end with the brake pedal, and at its upper end provided with means for manual operation by the driver, said lever being operable by pushing downward, in such a way to push said brake pedal, being provided means for blocking the lever in a lowered position.
2. Device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle according to claim 1 , characterised in that in correspondence of the upper end of the iever it is provided a operation and control push-button panel.
3. Device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle according to claim 2, characterised in that means are provided on said operation and control push-button panel, for operating said blocking device and/or to operate the electric horn.
4. Device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that said blocking device is an electromagnetic operated blocking device.
5. Device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that said means for manual operation by the driver are comprised of a knob.
6. Device for manual control of the brake of a vehicle according to each one of the preceding claims, substantially as illustrated and described.
