In this case, the on-call effective/background sound is transmitted via a call channel.
Now, operations of a mobile terminal according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described as follows.
As shown in Fig. 1 , when a user presses a predetermined key button in a key button unit 1 80, the main controller determines if a call mode is set up at that time. As a result, if a call mode is set up, the main controller recognizes this situation as when the user selects an on-call effective/background sound output mode so that the on-call effective/background sound is read from the storage unit 1 10 and then output to the transmit signal processing unit 160. Subsequently, the transmit signal processing unit 160 performs a signal processing of the on-call effective/background sounds in such a way that they does not function as noises as seen from the other user's voice signals received through the wireless communication unit 130 and transmits them via the same channel as a voice signal, that is, a call channel or another channel. If they are transmitted via the same channel as the voice signals, additional data must be added to identify if they are the voice signals or the on-call effective/background sounds before the transmission. In this case, the speaker means in the microphone 150 in a mobile terminal receives the on-call effective/background sound and then outputs them to the transmit signal processing unit 160. Then, the main controller 170 performs a control in such a way that the on-call effective/background sounds received through the wireless communication unit 130 are input to the receive signal processing unit 140. The receive signal processing unit 140 outputs the on-call effective/background sounds through the speaker together with voice signals of the other user.
Subsequently, the main controller 170 gets a remote access to the server 300 which provides the on-call effective/background sounds in response to the user's request and then downloads the on-call effective/background sound to store them in the storage unit 1 10 and update them later. In other words, the server 300 includes a database constructed with the sound sources provided as the on-call effective/background sounds. The main controller 170 performs a control in such a way that the sound sources of the on-call effective/background sounds are downloaded from the server 300 and transmitted to the other user via a call channel to make the other user hear them.
(Second embodiment)
As shown in Fig. 2, according to the second embodiment of the present invention, unlike the first embodiment, the on-call effective/background sounds stored in the storage unit 1 10 are directly input to the transmit signal processing unit 160 and then processed to transmit them to the other user's mobile terminal. Other structures are the same as the first embodiment except this. Following descriptions will be given to the functions different from the first embodiment, and those same as the first embodiment will not be given.
The control unit 170 reads the on-call effective/background sound corresponding to the key button from the storage unit 110 to output them to the key tone output unit 142. The on-call effective/background sounds played by the key tone output unit 142 are directly input to the transmit signal processing unit 160 to be transmitted to the other user 's mobile terminal. As a consequence, according to the second embodiment, the user who selected the on-call effective/background sound can not hear the selected on-call effective/background sound. However, in this case, the present invention can be modified to allow the user who selected the on- call effective/background sound to hear it by further comprising a signal connection formed to input the output signal of the key tone output unit 142 to the speaker 120. (Third Embodiment)
As illustrated in Fig. 3, according to the third embodiment of the present invention, unlike the first embodiment, an embedded module 200 which is separately fabricated is incorporated into a main frame of the mobile terminal so that the on-call effective/background sound is transmitted to the other user's mobile terminal during a call by communications with the main module 100. The embedded module 200 comprises an embedded storage unit 210 for storing a plurality of on-call effective/background sounds and an embedded controller 230 having connections capable of communicating with the main controller 170 in the main module 100 in order for the on-call effective/background sounds that will be transmitted to the other user by the communications to be output to the key tone output unit 142.
For descriptions of operations of the mobile terminal according to the third embodiment of the present invention, when a user presses a predetermined key button during a call, the embedded controller 230 detects it to allow the corresponding on-call effective/background sound to be read from the embedded storage unit 210 and then output to the key tone output unit 142 in the main module. Other operations are the same as the first embodiment. So, descriptions for that will not be given. (Fourth Embodiment)
As illustrated in Fig. 3, according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention, unlike the first embodiment, the on-call effective/background sound output to the key tone output unit 142 in the main module 100 by the embedded controller 230 is input to not the speaker means in the microphone 150 but the transmit signal processing unit 160 like the second embodiment. Other operations are the same as the third embodiment. So, descriptions for that will not be given.
Meanwhile, the storage unit 110 or the embedded storage unit 210 according to the present invention is divided into a plurality of portions so that the downloaded on-call effective/background sound is stored in one of the portions and then output or played later. Particularly, if the portions for storing the on-call effective/background sounds are short, the present invention can be implemented to delete the previous on-call effective/background sound by using a First-In-First-Out method or a particular on-call effective/background sound as user's needs. As the main controllers 170 according to the first and second embodiment, the embedded controllers 230 according to the third and fourth embodiment get a remote access to the server 300 which includes a database constructed with sound sources for the on-call effective/background sounds. Then, the sound sources for the on-call effective/background sounds are downloaded to transmit them to the other user via a call channel and controlled to allow the other user to hear them.
INDUSTRIAL AVAILABILITY According to the present invention, it is advantageous that the on- call effective/background sound corresponding to the pressed key button can be played or output in the caller 's mobile terminal as well as the other user's when a user presses a predetermined key button on a dial pad during a call. In addition, it is advantageous that the on-call effective/background sound can be used to talk to the other user as a substitute when a caller feels shy of directly saying something during a call.
Furthermore, it is advantageous that the on-call effective/background sound can be used to set the mood as user's needs.
Although the present invention and its advantages have been described in details, it should be understood that the present invention is not limit to the aforementioned embodiment and the accompanying drawings and it should be understood that various changes, substitutions and alterations can be made herein by the skilled in the arts without departing from the sprit and the scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
