Description

A TIMING CONTROLLER FOR A GENERATOR OF WATER DROPS
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a timing controller for a generator of water drops for commercial use, and more particularly to a timing controller for a generator of water drops which makes water drops generated in places for banquets, various events, amusement, etc. as well as in Karaoke rooms, entertainment halls and salons, etc. to make the atmosphere more exciting, by an arbitrary selection of timing.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In general, a Karaoke machine is a music entertainment system providing prerecorded accompaniment to popular songs that a performer sings live, usually by following the words on a video screen. Recently, such Karaoke machines have been widely provided and used in Karaoke rooms, banquet places, event halls, restaurants, liquor salons, etc., and the demand in market places for the machines is increasing. Usually in a Karaoke room, a lighting apparatus like stage lighting is provided to encourage the atmosphere, and a celebrating music such as fanfare is played from the Karaoke machine if a score evaluating the performer's singing and displayed on the video screen after singing is higher than a certain predetermined score. However, in order to make the atmosphere more exciting, a generator of water drops connected with the Karaoke machine has been introduced.
Conventional generators of water drops have been disclosed in Korean Utility Model Registration Nos. 152713 and 245543, the detailed description of which will be omitted herein. Also, in Korean Utility Model Registration Nos. 192979 and 291312, it is disclosed that a generator of water drops is connected with the Karaoke machine to make the atmosphere more exciting. The detailed description thereof will be provided hereinafter. Fig. 1 is a circuit diagram illustrating an embodiment of a conventional controller for the generator of water drops disclosed in Korean Utility Model Registration No. 192979.
As shown in Fig. 1, the controller for the generator of water drops connected to the Karaoke machine comprises a circuit (10) for generating fanfare or any celebrating music if the score displayed on a video screen after singing is higher than a certain predetermined score; a speaker (20) for transmitting the celebrating music generated from the circuit (10) outside; a detecting part (30) for detecting if the celebrating music is generated from the circuit (10) and producing a signal; a recognition part (40) for recognizing the signal from the detecting part (30) which informs if the celebrating music has been generated and producing a control signal; and a switching part (50) for supplying power to a generator to produce water drops according to the control signal from the recognition part (40).
According to the above controller for the generator of water drops used in Karaoke rooms, when a performer finishes singing a song by operating the Karaoke machine, and the score displayed on the video screen of the Karaoke machine is higher than a predetermined score, the circuit (10) generates fanfare or any celebrating music, and the generated celebrating music is transmitted outside through the speaker (20).
At this time, the detecting part (30) detects if the celebrating music is generated from the circuit (10) and produces a signal for the recognition part (40). Upon receiving the signal from the detecting part (30) that the celebrating music has been generated, the recognition part (40) produces a control signal, by which the switching part (50) is operated to supply power to a generator of water drops.
Therefore, the generator of water drops is driven to produce water drops, and by the combination of the acoustic effect from the fanfare music and the visible effect from the water drops, a fantastic atmosphere is produced.
Fig. 2 is a circuit diagram illustrating another embodiment of a conventional controller for the generator of water drops disclosed in Korean Utility Model Registration No. 291312. The controller for the generator of water drops connected to the Karaoke machine as shown in Fig. 2 comprises a circuit (110) installed in the Karaoke machine for generating fanfare; a comparator (120) for sensing the fanfare generated from the circuit (110) and producing an output signal; a speaker (160) for transmitting the fanfare generated from the circuit (110) outside; a switching transistor (130) operated in response to the output signal from the comparator (120) for an operation time input from a central processing unit (150); a generator of water drops (140) for generating water drops by the operation of the switching transistor (130); a volume (141) for a user to adjust an integer number which determines the operation time of the switching transistor (130) and to adjust the velocity of a reduction motor provided in the generator of water drops (140); and the central processing unit (150) provided between the comparator (120) and the switching transistor (130) to change the operation time of the switching transistor (130) according to the integer number variable by the user's operation of the volume (141).
According to the controller constructed as above, a performer or a user first operates the volume (141) to set up an integer number and to adjust the velocity of the reduction motor in the generator of water drops (140) to a desired level.
Then, if the fanfare is generated from the circuit (110), the comparator (120) detects it and produces an output signal to be transmitted to the central processing unit (150). The central processing unit (150) then controls the operation time of the switching transistor (130) based on the integer number set up by the user by the operation of the volume (141).
The generator of water drops (140) generates water drops at the velocity set up by the volume (141). However, since the above generator of water drops including the controller has to be connected to the Karaoke machine and generates water drops only when the fanfare or celebrating music is played, it is impossible for a user to adjust arbitrarily the timing for the generation of water drops.
Moreover, since the generator of water drops is always operated in connection with the Karaoke machine, it is impossible to use it in various places other than Karaoke rooms such as event halls and banquet rooms or outdoor playgrounds, separately from the Karaoke machine by arbitrarily selecting the time for the water drops.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention has been proposed to overcome the above disadvantages of the conventional generators of water drops for Karaoke machines.
The object of the present invention is to provide a timing controller for a generator of water drops for commercial use, which makes water drops generated by an arbitrary selection of timing by a user, irrespective of the operation of the Karaoke machine, thus making the atmosphere more exciting.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a timing controller for a generator of water drops, which controls the generation of water drops for a time period previously set up by a user, by inserting a certain amount of money into the controller and manipulating an operating button, irrespective of the operation of the Karaoke machine.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a timing controller for a generator of water drops, which can be used for promotional purposes by automatically and periodically generating water drops for a short period of time previously set up by a user, irrespective of the insertion of money, so that the existence of the generator of water drops and its effect to enhance the atmosphere can be advertised.
In order to achieve the above objects, a timing controller for a generator of water drops according to the present invention comprises: an inlet for coins; an input-output slot for bills; a money sensor for sensing whether a coin or bill inserted through the inlet or the slot is normal and deciding whether the coin or bill should be stored in the controller or returned; an outlet for ejecting coins which were decided by the sensor to be abnormal and to be returned; a storage for coins and bills which were decided by the sensor to be normal and to be stored; an operating button for a user or performer to arbitrarily select the time when the generation of water drops begins; a deep switching part for a user to adjust the time period for which the water drops are generated; a displaying part (LCD) for displaying the amount of money calculated from the input coins or bills and the number of times for which the water drops are generated, by means of light emitting diodes (LED); a controlling part for having the amount of money detected by the sensor displayed on the displaying part, and by the selection of the operating button, generating a control signal to drive the generator of water drops for the time period adjusted by the deep switching part; and a driving part for driving the generator of water drops in response to the control signal from the controlling part.
The deep switching part as described above can include, for example, a first deep switch for setting up the time for which water drops are generated as 1 minute; a second deep switch for setting up the time for 1 minute and 30 seconds; a third deep switch for setting up the time for 2 minutes; a fourth deep switch for setting up the time for 3 minutes; a fifth deep switch for setting up the time for 5 minutes; and a sixth deep switch for generating water drops periodically for a short time such as about 10 seconds.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Reference will now be made in detail to preferred embodiments of the present invention in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
Figs. 3 and 4 show the timing controller for the generator of water drops according to the present invention, wherein the controller for the generator of water drops is indicated by the reference numeral 200 and the generator of water drops is indicated by the reference numeral 230.
As shown in the drawings, the timing controller (200) for the generator of water drops according to the present invention includes an inlet for coins (211); an input-output slot for bills (212); a money sensor (213) for sensing whether a coin or bill inserted through the inlet (211) or the slot (212) is normal and deciding whether the coin or bill should be stored in the controller (200) or returned; an outlet for ejecting coins (214) which were decided by the sensor (213) to be abnormal and to be returned; and a storage for coins and bills (215) which were decided by the sensor to be normal and to be stored.
The timing controller (200) for the generator of water drops further includes an operating button (216) for a user or performer to arbitrarily select the time when the generation of water drops begins; a deep switching part (217) for a user to adjust the time period for which the water drops are generated; a displaying part (LCD) (218) for displaying the amount of money calculated from the input coins or bills and the number of times for which the water drops are generated, by means of light emitting diodes (LED); a controlling part (219) for having the amount of money detected by the sensor (213) displayed on the displaying part (218), and by the selection of the operating button (216), generating a control signal to drive the generator of water drops (230) for the time period adjusted by the deep switching part (217); and a driving part (220) for driving the generator of water drops (230) in response to the control signal from the controlling part (219).
The deep switching part (217), although not shown in the drawings, is provided with a first to fifth deep switches for setting up the time for which water drops are generated for 1 minute, for 1 minute and 30 seconds, for 2 minutes, for 3 minutes, and for 5 minutes. Also, by way of showing an example, the deep switching part (217) is provided with a sixth deep switch for generating water drops periodically for a short time, for example, for 10 seconds every thirty minutes. The operation of the controller for the generator of water drops according to the present invention will be described in more detail hereinafter.
At first, an operator of the generator of water drops (230) sets up the time for which water drops are generated by operating the first to sixth deep switches. The deep switching part (217) herein is not disposed out of the controller (200), but disposed inside the controller (200) which is locked by a locking mechanism. Thus, general customers such as users or performers cannot control the time.
That is, only an operator who installed the generator of water drops (230) can unlock the controller (200) to be open and operate the deep switching part (217) inside. By manipulating one of the first to fifth deep switches, the operator can set up the time for which water drops are generated, and water drops are generated for the above time at each time the operating button (216) is pushed. The time may be set up longer than the above 5 minutes.
The sixth deep switch functions as advertisement means by showing users or performers that there is provided with the generator of water drops (230) and that the water drops can make the atmosphere much more exciting.
In order for the users or performers to use the generator of water drops (230), a predetermined amount of money must be inserted to the controller (200) by coins or a bill. When coin(s) is inserted through the inlet (211), the money sensor (213) detects whether the coin is normal or correct, and if the coin is abnormal or incorrect, it makes the coin ejected through the outlet for ejecting coin(s) (214).
On the contrary, if the coin is normal and correct, the money sensor (213) informs the controlling part (219) of it, and the coin is stored in the storage for coins and bills (215).
If coins are continuously inserted, the above procedure is repeated so that the total inserted coins can be checked
In addition, if a bill is inserted through the slot (212), the money sensor (213) detects whether the bill is normal or inferior, and if the bill is improper, the bill is ejected through the same slot (212).
For example, if a normal 1000-won bill (about US$0.8) is inserted, the money sensor (213) detects the amount and informs the controlling part (219) of the amount, and simultaneously forwards the inserted bill to the storage for coins and bills (215).
If the money inserted is detected by the sensor (213), the controlling part (219) controls the displaying part (218) including light emitting diodes (LED) to display the amount of money detected by the sensor (213), and simultaneously to display the number of times in which the water drops can be generated with the inserted amount of money. For example, if it is previously set up by the operator that one generation of water drops will be possible with the amount of 500 won (about US$0.4), and if the user inserts 2000 won (about US$1.6), the displaying part (218) will show the inserted amount as 2000 won and the number of times of generation of water drops as 4 times.
Then, if the user or performer wishes to have water drops generated to make the atmosphere more exciting while singing a song or at any time, he/she pushes the operating button (216), and the controlling part (219) recognizes it and produces a control signal to drive the generator of water drops (230) for the time period adjusted by the deep switching part (217).
Upon receiving the control signal from the controlling part (219), the driving part (220) drives the generator of water drops (230) while the control signal is transferred from the controlling part (219).
As the generator of water drops (230) herein is the same as the conventional generator in its constitution and function, the detailed description of the generator (230) is omitted. After one cycle of water drops has been generated, the controlling part (219) controls the change of the displaying part (218), so that the displaying part (218) displays the rest of the amount of money and the remaining number of times.
For example, if the inserted amount was 2000 won (about US$1.6) and the number of times was 4 at first, after one cycle of water drops, the displaying part (218) will show the remainder as 1500 won (about US$1.2) and the number of times as 3 times.
According to the present invention, water drops can be generated by an arbitrary selection of timing by a user, irrespective of the operation of the Karaoke machine, and the atmosphere can be made more exciting.
Also, according to the present invention, generation of water drops can be controlled in such a manner that water drops are generated for a time period previously set up by a user, by inserting a certain amount of money and manipulating an operating button, irrespective of the operation of the Karaoke machine. Further, the timing controller for a generator of water drops according to the present invention can be used for promotional purposes by automatically and periodically generating water drops for a short period of time previously set up by an operator, irrespective of the insertion of money, so that the existence of the generator of water drops and its effect to enhance the atmosphere can be advertised. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to the present invention without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. The present invention covers the modifications and variations thereof provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
